Wonderful old word pub. Staff great. Carvery good. Coffee horrible. Need to get a proper machine. Locks on ladies toilets not working properly

Lovely staff, unfortunately didn’t get to enjoy meal roast dinner (carvery) . Car park is that small not enough spaces multiple 4x4 blocked entrance and took up double parking spaces! No other access. You could just about park but unfortunately you cannot get the doors open without hitting the other truck so completely useless for parking have no access to the pub. As we booked we weren’t expecting to park the car a mile and a half away from the pub and walk especially when it said it had its own car park and beer garden. Where we thought we had left the car would be safe and in no one’s way we then had keep moving the car around the village when we asked the staff if they could accommodate us with the space there was no parking spaces because of peoples lack of parking skills within the lines It meant we couldn’t enjoy our meal. It was constantly interrupted by moving the car unfortunately, I would like to put something about the food, but as we were rushed. I’m sure it’s nice pub with nice food. it was just wrong place wrong time 🤷🏻‍♀️

What a great find this was. We were staying down the road in a converted Horse Lorry (which we also highly recommend on air BnB with Charlie). The Bell inn was recommended in the guide of the horse lorry. Lovely pub, really friendly, the carvery is amazing (as is the puddings). It also has live music when we were there. Highly recommended to all.

Really good find! Good value, Good food, friendly staff. Book as is popular for all the above reasons. We went for Sunday carvery but weekday menu looks good also. Will be going back.

We found the Bell Inn on our last night camping in the area. Its a little gem. We felt welcomed, warm and cosy. Traditional old pub feel with a lovely atmosphere. The food was delicious and portions large. We did have to wait a little while to get our starters, but not excessively so and with 9 of us to feed on an already busy Saturday evening, totally understandable. Staff were very accommodating and friendly. Even our dog was made to feel welcome and given treats. We left with full bellies and happy smiles. A very lovely end to our holiday. Thank you.

Have had a fantastic family carvery

Lovely friendly chap who served us. The food was very hot but unfortunately not much taste at all. The carpets in the pub could do with a deep clean or even better new carpets or wooden floor. As soon as you walked in, the pub smelt badly of dogs as it is a dog friendly pub. We had fish and chips, the batter was the best part of the meal.

What a fantastic find! I took my 96 year old Father there and we both had the smoked slow roast Brisket. Bad news, our order took a while, good news, OMG! It was just to die for! So tender and tasty, with well cooked fresh veg. Generous portions as well! Great atmosphere, lovely staff, quaint traditional surroundings with a nice choice of real ale. I will certainly be back!

Good pub, staff were very friendly! Dog was welcome and they had lovely dogs there. I had the slow cooked pork belly and it was not one to disappoint, melting at the plate - must try! Chips were perfectly crisped up and seasoned well. Would deffinetly come back if local!

We really enjoyed the food here. We had the 3 shared smokehouse platter and it fed 2 of us easily. Brisket was super tender, ribs fell off the bone and pork belly well cooked.

Fabulous evening enjoyed with friends. Great good and cocktails, too. Lovely atmosphere and now booked in to return again with another set of friends.

Great pub. Great for dogs too. We loved the bbq smokehouse meats especially the pork belly! Great atmosphere.

The pub may not stand out from the outside, but don't let that fool you. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The pub dogs are also very friendly. We really enjoyed the food and are talking about coming back here the next time we are in the area. The smoked, slow cooked meats are so tender and delicious. Highly recommended if you enjoy that type of food. I also had the sweetcorn fritters as a side, which were also very tasty. Oh, and a good selection of beer, ciders, gins and rums...

Had a takeaway roast carvery and wow the meat was so delicious, the flavour was amazing! The potatoes crispy! Will be going back!

What a lovely place. Food is great. I will try and visit whenever I'm visiting relatives in Buckland Brewer. Pork belly is amazing.

Very poor choice of menu also not many new potatoes were served with the scampi they need a more varied menu very dissapointed would liked to of had more choice.

This is a great little pub with good home cooked, generously portioned food and nice lager, well worth a visit. Landlady very welcoming and accomodating. Best establishment we've visited in the area.

Best country pub for miles. If you like meat, you need to come here! Slow cooked home smoked meats are to die for..... friendly staff, good beer and dog friendly.

Hidden Gem! Fabulous food. Family and dog friendly pub. We came here on advise from locals to treat the husband on his birthday. We had the sharing platter - you will not be disappointed. Also has cocktail 🍹 menu.

Staff were very welcoming and friendly, especially the four-legged staff! Food was delicious and very generous portions. Only one thing to be aware of, car park is very small and tight, we arrived just after opening and was only just able to squeeze our midsize car into the last remaining bay, and there isn't much in the way of street parking available nearby. Definitely worth a visit, especially if you can get there on foot or by public transport

First time in this Pub after years of driving past it, wish I'd been in there sooner, absolutely brilliant, proper traditional pub with a great beer garden and extremely friendly staff... plus awesome dogs

Banging carvery on Sunday, easily accommodated a group of 10 including 3 kids under 5 and a dog! Reasonably priced and such a great meal, roasties were crisp, meat was not overcooked and nice variety of veg!

This was the perfect end to our holiday in Devon. The Bell Inn was very cosy and dog friendly .The food was outstanding and the staff were lovely. I would highly recommend, just wish we found this Inn sooner.

Honestly one of the best pubs I’ve been to for a very long time. Super dog friendly, great choice of veggie options on the menu and all other options were very very good! High quality and the staff were absolutely incredible! Cannot wait to come back again :)

One of the best roast dinners I've ever had

Had the most lovely meal here whilst staying nearby for a short break. The steak was so tender and tasty, very generous portion of sides to go with. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, it was a lovely ambience. Dog friendly too which was a bonus! Best steak we’ve had, would definitely come here again - couldn’t fault it. Big thank you to the staff!

We stopped in for Sunday lunch and it did not disappoint! All 6 of us had the carvery and were all left absolutely stuffed (not too stuffed for desert) but the quality was fantastic, all staff were welcoming and friendly but the dogs playing in the bar were even better 🤣. We will definitely be back!

Food was excellent but 7/8 dogs in bar barking then play fighting when your trying to talk to others in party or having a dog putting head on your lap while eating not very good I like dogs but not when out eating a meal !

A really nice pub and served good food. Really appreciated having the dogs inside with us since the weather was unwelcoming that day. And we enjoyed the atmosphere.

Went for our anniversary dinner last night, welcomed by the two ladies front of house instantly, had our table ready for myself, wife and two labs. The food was superb, the flavours were delicious and plenty of meat on the sharing Platter for us both (and the pups) we were also joined by the pub dogs which seeing the pubpupppy made my wifes day (me and our dogs were a bit put out by this!) it looks small from the outside but we'll worth a trip out to find this absolute gem of a pub! Put it on your list to visit.... We shall be back when next holidaying in the area. Thank you for the wonderful food.

The Bell deserves 5 stars ✨ for value for money. Food, staff and service very good also. 1st visit, definitely going back on a regular basis.

We held a large local fundraising evening and we used the services of the Bell for their mobile bar and catering. Roy came out to our premises and set it all up so we had no troubles dealing with the 400+ party goers with 8 taps for lager, beer and cider . They cooked a whole pig for us which was an amazing hog roast . All this meant we had a smoothly run function raising over £14,000 for charity. Thanks Roy and Sally we couldn’t have done it without you

We used the mobile bar equipment for our charity event and it was amazing, Roy and Sally helped us with everything so we knew what we were doing and weren’t left floundering around. They also cooked a pig for us to use, which went down really well, they were an amazing help for the whole event, which raised over £14000 for charity and we can’t thank them enough. We will definitely be calling on them again for the next event.

We were away on holiday for the new year in our motorhome, we managed to book into this pub for a meal and New Years celebrations. they let us join in with their quizzes and games, they even gave us a team name calling us “car park pikeys” 😂 A very friendly and dog friendly pub, the locals were all nice and also welcoming. Sat by the fire feeling cozy and warm. Definitely recommend this pub if you are passing anytime. Food was delicious.

The staff were so friendly, polite and professional. Easy to make a reservation and we ended up sitting outside and it was no bother to the staff. The burgers were delicious. Dog friendly too and two lovely goats in the garden. Would recommend and would return

Well worth the visit. Very homely and comfortable. Very dog friendly in fact you are greeted by a staffy that is very happy to see you. If you do not pay attention it rolls on his back and kicks it’s legs. Although when was at the bar he joined me but refused a pint. Must be on the wagon. While waiting for our dinner we were able to sit with a drink around a log fire in a comfortable armchair. Could have stayed there all night but had to move to our table to have a freshly cooked meal. The food was great and full of flavour. All in all a very enjoyable experience and now that I know it is so close to home we will definitely be going back. Thanks everyone concerned.

Quaint pub. Lovely pigmy goats in the garden and loads of outdoor space which is either under cover and open to the elements. Food was nice but not as good as the carvery that use to be here under other management. Will try again to see if it was just an off day.

Excellence is what The Bell Inn is about, 11 of us turned up for a meal, the greeting, the food, the service was excellent, we would certainly be back.

What an amazing carvery lunch. Highly recommend. We are in Devon on holiday, which is such a shame as if we lived closer we would make it a regular. You need to book on Sundays due to its popularity. And hold off on breakfast, the meal was exceptional sized portion. Lovely.pub, friendly hosts. Monkleigh is lucky to have such a gem.

Lovely traditional pub. Not sure about the food though - some of the mains were a little overdone, and everything came with a very strange salad.

Small (cosy) pub with a good range of beers - exmoor brewery when I visited. Food was good and sensibly priced. Car park limited and tight.
