Lovely staff few beers with family

Had a meal it was great service and great food reasonably priced

We had a lovely lunch in their bar. Our dogs were more than welcome.

Thank you Alice for assisting us today at Quay car park when our Smart car wouldn't start. Arranged for hubby to look after the bar while you took my husband to Watertown garage and arranged for mechanic to attend to our car, then driving my husband back to our car. All supplied with beautiful smile. Thanks again.

Smells bad ! If you can put up with that then a great pub to visit is cheaper than some . Great for watching sports and live music.

Love it as a great working class man's pub. Occasional live music.Fish n Chips from their chip shop opposite great price and so tasty.Enjoy a pint and fish n chips in a warm and inviting atmosphere.Or just pop in for a great pint.

Old fashioned pub, friendly staff, dog friendly, can't beat a pint in there and having fish and chips from the Royal Plaice opposite at your table! A firm favourite for years!

the pub side of it is terrible, if your a tourist avoid at all at all cost they make it clear that your not welcome and it’s a pub for locals and locals only. me and my family party of 14 came here on our first night to have a few drinks one women that worked there was very rude and making nasty comments towards us, even though we put plenty of money behind the bar and keeping ourselves to ourselves. we won’t be going back there again as we was made to feel out of place and uncomfortable.

Lovely evening spent at this pub staff were very kind it warm cosy atmosphere is very welcoming. Always nice to find a pub that is local at the heart of the village. Also great to see them join in with carnival!

Excellent service as ever in the pub. A proper pub in the heart of Appledore. Bar staff always friendly especially Alice who goes above and beyond. Yes sometimes you have to wait , but that is always when it's busy as is expected. Always got a varied selection of live music to suit all. Keep up the good work .

Good beer, ordered fish & chips from shop over road, once ready they brouht it into the pub for us, great.

Amazing pub in the heart of Appledore. Service is great. The bar staff work really hard and nothing you ask is too much trouble. Highly recommend. Always great bands playing as well.

Never had a problem in The Royal. Yes service at times can be slow however this is usually at busy times and you just need to be patient. Love the atmosphere and that tis a proper wet pub with no airs and graces. Long may it continue........oh and if you are dissatisfied perhaps address the problem at the time. You never know it might get rectified there and then!

I and my family called into the Royal Hotel yesterday afternoon for a drink my daughter and I were watching the rugby Australia v all Black's barmaid just switched over never asked very ignorant won't bother going back

Service in the pub by the women was incredibly poor both Friday and Saturday night. We’re used to being welcomed in and spoken to politely most places in appledore, however not this time.

Hotel bar with outside seating and own Fish & Chip takeaway opposite. Sports channels on bar TVs. Good selection of beers and spirits. Friendly staff

This is a great pub. I have been here many times. We often buy chips from the chip shop opposite and wait for them to be delivered whilst having a beer.

Very enjoyable watched my football team on the telly had a good pint and had the fish and chips apart from my team losing it was very good

Expensive for what we had, first attempt food came out barely cooked, was swapped with no issues, had fish finger sandwiches which were ok but no wow factor for £10 each sorry

Advertises hot drinks on the sign outside but went to order and was told they are a pub pub and don't serve hot drinks.

Good traditional pub. Nothing fancy, but there isn't anything wrong with that.

For track and trace excellent. For customer service, excellent. Made customers adhere to rules. Only one ale on but thankfully not doombar or tribute.

Nice pub. Dog friendly. Ok prices. Opposite chippy..you can bring food from the chippy into the pub..or the chippy will deliver to the pub.

So the pub is a tad lived in but the atmosphere and the fact that you can order from their chippy (Royal Plaice) across the road is genious. Wonderful meal.

Lovely pub and made to feel very welcome with the best fish and chips we have ever tasted! You really should go there, thoroughly recommend it!!

Seemed a proper local pub in a place that gets a fair few tourists. Furthermore, we weren't locals but were treated very nicely.

Good food, decent priced drinks and a friendly atmosphere...a nice place to go to unwind from a long day.
