Easily the best Indian takeaway in Bideford. All the usual fare plus some great chef's specialities (love the Naga curry). Generous portions too. Just make sure that you order direct to benefit from discounts on collection orders or free Bombay potatoes. You don't get those through Just Eat!

Very solid Indian takeaway. Would recommend more creamy options. Collection order was ready promptly both times. Just not 5 stars as quality could be a little higher in non-creamy curry options and filled naan's.

I have had several takeaway meals from PoI. I tend to go for chicken and the Tikka is absolutely superb. Great portion sizes, tasty, juicy. Highly recommended.

Good curry. Wife had a lovely lamb pasanda possibly slightly too chewy. I had a chicken Tika Masala, which for some reason was a quite bright red colour but tasted ok. Naan Bread were great!

Ordered takeaway from just eat, costing £25. What a disappointment. The chicken tikka massala was like a slightly flavoured watery sauce that just ran off my plate a so dished it up, the chicken was hard. The onion bhajee were just a shocking, no flavour to them, dry, just plain revolting. Bombay aloo thst consisted of boiled potatoes that were seasoned with something to give them a slight colour, I didn't even attempt to try them at all. The only edible thing was the 2 popadums and bottle of coke!! Will never order from here again.

Ordered a take away for a 7.30pm collection. When we arrived it was just finishing being boxed so not a big wait. The food was really nice and that normal puddle of oil on the top of your curry was non-existent which was a massive bonus. If we were in the area again we would definitely be ordering from the Prince of India.

Tempted back after many years because I thought that the food may have changed … it hadn’t! If I had closed my eyes I would not have known I was eating curry as everything was bland and completely under seasoned. Bombay potatoes were insipid blanched in turmeric to make them have some colour. Rice was unsalted and tasteless. The lime pickle was unrecognisable because no lime and mostly a tomatoey sauce and the mint yoghurt was thin and watery. The Mint Chicken and Chicken Tikka Deshi Balti were again insipid and both contained chicken that was not tender. So disappointing that money wasted and should have stayed loyal to our regular takeout/eat-in Indian. Please heed this advice!

Always my favourite take away in Bideford, but since taken over recently even better, Until today, ordered online mid afternoon, 1 hour late, after chasing up twice, then not cool, but cold, even when warmed up not nice at all, will deffinately not be using again, such a shame

Great food long wait to get it.

I live locally and thought I would try this Indian for a change as take out. Food took an hour and fifty minutes to arrive and was completely inedible. The meat samosas were a quarter the size of normal samosas and being so small could only contain half a teaspoon of filling at most which had the taste appearance and colour of mashed potato. Onion bahji's were the size of small golf balls and burnt to a crisp literally fried for so long there wasn't even onion flavour left in them. The Lamb Bhauna was disgusting. The onions weren't cooked and the flavour I couldn't identify but it wasn't edible and certainly was not a Bhauna. Whoever works in the kitchen is certainly not a cook let alone a chef. To top it off when tit did arrive the driver was irate, He also had his young daughter in his car. I mention this because as an 'appology' they included a large bottle of a coke and a soft popodum which was broken but the amount of crushed pieces in the bottom of the bag made up nearly half of a second popodum. Maybe the girl got hungry. To sum it up Iv'e lived in several places around the country and travelled extensively but the level of sub standard faire provided by this establishment is beyond belief. Totally disgusting and a waste of thirty pounds.

I’m new to the area and looking for a good Indian takeaway. I was a bit reticent when I saw some of the reviews but always think places deserve a chance and my optimism was rewarded. The food was delicious and the service quick even though it was a Friday and they were clearly busy. If they can pull it off next time I go I think I’ve found my new local curry house.

Very disappointing, over cooked and not very fresh

Lovely food always fresh and hot, even the breads. I love a hot curry so I have the madras or Tikka madras and we also get a passanda . Nice little touch with the Bombay potatoes too .This by far is my favorite indian takeaway and was lovely to be lucky to be one of the winners of the weekly competition so I tried something completely different and it was just as lovely .

DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️ We placed an order on my 30th birthday! Quite a large order (around £100) They took the order and when I asked the price they told me £207. So I said ok and put the phone down. Did the maths with my family and phoned them back a minute later and said to cancel the order. They then asked why. So I said the price was too high. They then proceeded to say that they could do it for £107 and then when I said “I’ll ask my family if they still want it” he said “Let’s just say £100..” so I agreed and it arrived after a 2 HOUR wait. They said it would be 45 mins. So the food was stale. We was missing 8 popadoms and one of the main curry’s from our order. The quality was very sub par. PLEASE AVOID THIS COMPANY. ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️

Having travelled here for a holiday myself and my partner fancied an Indian Takeaway,I phoned for a delivery only to be told you don't deliver this far despite advertising a charge on deliveries over 3 miles.We decided to drive to pick up an order approx 8 miles.You also advertise free bombay potatoes on orders over £20 but what good is that when you can't get the order right,I ordered and paid for 4 poppadoms with all the sauces but I never got them,1 very fed up customer on what was meant to be a birthday treat to myself.Clearly checking the orders is failing and I'm out of pocket which as a holidaymaker I'll never see that money again.

We are down here on holiday from Norfolk and decided we would like a India take away rung up too get a delivery as we are not familiar with the area staying at park Dean caravan site we was told that they would not deliver that far thought it clearly states on their takeaway menu delivery over 3 miles with be charged extra so we decided too go and fetch it ourselves which was roughly 8 miles away only too get back too our caravan too find half of the order was missing my girlfriend rung too complain and was greeted with a last then friendly reply this is a disgusting attitude towards your customer s

Delicious food. Good quality and enough for 2 days! My only gripe is we ordered our meals in the afternoon online and requested delivery at 6.15. It arrived at 5.35. Not a problem. The chicken biryani came with a veg curry as normal but also some potato curry with a slightly different sauce. This was a bonus! We also had a garlic naan bread which was tasty and really good lamb madras. No gristle or fat. Highly recommended.

Just moved back to Devon and decided to order in as it was too hot to cook. Got a chicken Saag, pilau rice & a few poppadoms. Asked in the order notes for the Saag to be spicy and it was absolutely spot on! Loads of tender chicken, tasty sauce, fluffy rice & crunchy poppadoms. Would 100% recommend - best Indian I've had in a long time!

This was a takeaway delivery - very grateful they delivered and were prompt. Unfortunately the food was well below par, the main courses were generic, vivid coloured sauces and the meat was over cooked. I always champion good food and restaurants but this was really very poor. The cauliflower bhaji was fine.

Awful gloop. All dishes looked and tasted similar. Truly dreadful. You would get a better curry at Asda. Pre-cooked meat (over done) with a generic sauce. No hint of fresh vegetables or spices. Appalling.

Website was really easy to use, option for collection or delivery, we collected and was ready on time. Food was delicious, all of it! We ordered a good selection with one veggie there was plenty choice. Would definitely order again.

Ordered Chicken Korma, mushroom rice, saga loo and peshwari naan... Plenty to share between 2 of us. The staff were very friendly and polite and the food was amazing. Cooked perfectly and full of flavour. Will definitely order again.

Items missing from order. Naan bread inedible... overcooked and left to dry and go cold. Main dish appeared to be precooked frozen and poorly reheated no evidence of spices in any part of meal.. Will not return.

Fooled by recent reviews of this takeaway so decided to try.....BIG Mistake. Ordered online but had to wait for 25 minutes past collection slot. Chicken tikka starter missing from order. Naan bread overcooked and left to go cold and dry. Complete lack of flavour or spices in Biryani . Had the appearance of pre cooked frozen food poorly reheated. Never again.!!

Came down from Southampton to stay with the other half, had a meal from Prince of India in Bideford Devon and found it to be best Indian meal I've ever had, the food was of an excellent quality and service including delivery was of the highest standards I recommend you try the food.

The food is ok nothing special however I wont be going back , Twice now I have been in there a bloke in dirty working clothes has been sitting in the kitchen hes not Indian and certainly doesn't work in the kitchen . The other day I went in to order a curry he was there again no one had masks on in the kitchen , And standing around in the shop were 2 scruffy people waiting to deliver meals neither had masks on ,I just walked out and won't be going back,

Eaten from here loads of times, food is lovely, but tonight our regular takeaway was over 2 hours late phoned once got through after an hour and they said its just left, waited another hour, no show tried 5 times to call and cancel but...

While on holiday in Devon we tried the Prince of India and it was the best meal we had while here. The service was excellent and the food really tasty. We would recommend to anyone who likes a tasty well spiced curry

Not at all happy with the delivery service tonight sat 21st Aug - ordered as have done in the past at 19.08 and got a confirmation email back stating food order received and a delivery time of 19.52 all great so far - however delivery time comes and goes - Ok I get it, its a Sat night and I don't actually mind waiting - however my issue is 42 minutes after expected delivery time food arrives with no apology or reason for such a late delivery - if you are going to be longer than at least email or phone your customer

Absolutely delicious Rogan Josh and Chicken Tikka Masala really generous portion sizes, meat tender, sauces spiced but not sufficient to overpower. Lovely lady answering calls patient and pleasant. Will definitely use again

The curry we ordered was lovely, although lacking in spice. The chips were awful, they had a green colour to them, very over fried highly recommended changing their oil.

Avoid these guys, shocking shocking service. Turns up hours late, can’t call them 200 times we tried no answer

On a visit from Bridgwater, we were on the lookout for an Indian and thought we'd try these guys. Turned out to be the best curry we've had in years! Outstanding quality and great service. I highly recommend the Deshi Lanka Balti.

We had a delicious takeaway from here. They use lovely fresh spices like cardamom and chili and the tarka dhal is thick and garlicky. We have vegetarian items from menu and will definitely be ordering from here again in the future.

When me and my boyfriend ordered we were skeptical because we heard the restaurant had changed owners. When I went to go collect the food, the people working there were so kind and added 2 free dishes to our order for no reason at all...

Some of the best Indian food I’ve had for a long time. Very happy. Delivery was a little later than expected, but that’s understandable as it’s New Year’s Eve. Well worth the wait though. Food arrived piping hot every dish was cooked to perfection. Highly recommended.

I visited the Prince of India last night for the first time, I was met with a friendly welcome, food was quickly prepared while I waited even though they was busy, food came as I requested and very tasty and not to hot as I like, will be coming back again

We were staying in Bulworthy Forest Lodges, awful telephone reception, but the owner was great in taking our order. Arrived an hour later, and was warm and very tasty. The price was very good, and everyone enjoyed their Curries. Thank you very much.

Very slow service, booked two hours in advance and it was a big order over £100. The food was cold and missing items. We couldn’t get through to them to complain, when we did finally get through they said they would send the missing items and a voucher off the next meal. They arrived with missing item but nothing else. Will definitely not use again.
