Really great local pub better priced than around the corner (can't say but looks over to Instow) good atmosphere warm and friendly

Lovely little pub. Mixture of locals and tourists. Local ales on tap which were all very good. They don’t do food, but that is a good thing as I prefer a wet pub if I’m going out for social drink. Made it my local whilst on holiday. Enjoyed a shanty band one night and a blues band on another. Great atmosphere. Best pub in Appledore. Enjoy this type of pub whilst you still can.

Great little pub with good local beers

Gem of a pub in Appledore. Great atmosphere, great staff, great selection of real ales and local ciders, brilliant music. You can even ask to take your drinks down to the Quay.

The champ is well worth the walk in from westward Ho! Sam is a really genuine, friendly and welcoming host who offered us an excellent selection of real ales along with his charming wit. This is what every pub should inspire to be! Looking forward to returning for some live music and real ale when we are next visiting the area. Long live the Champ! Thanks Sam.

What a great little pub! Good drinks, great atmosphere and service, with regular live music. They don't serve food, so they let you bring your own!

Best pub in appledore for atmosphere, place is small so buggies and big dogs probably not a good idea. Great range of beers and ciders.

Get fish and chips from the excellent chippy 2 doors down and eat them in this fantastic pub. Especially good when there's live music. We were only in Appledore for 3 nights and visited this place every single night!

Wanted to pop in a year ago when we came to Appledore but it was closed! Luckily today it was open!! Popped in as a family with the out dog… they were extremely friendly, cosy and the beer was amazing! Will definitely be back

Fab service, relaxed friendly atmosphere with great music

The heart of Appledore … staff were so friendly when we first arrived and went over and above to make us welcome, we have an 8 year old so pubs can easily become boring, but he was made especially welcome by staff and he really enjoyed it…. We visited regularly through our stay and enjoyed the music and great atmosphere! We were able to take local food in to the pub. The pizzas were amazing :)))))) We absolutely adore this little gem and hope to visit again soon! Friendships made and we left a little piece of our hearts here ! Thankyou so much Josh, Sam, Izzy, Adrian, and Ben … see you again ;))

Went last night for quick drink whilst exploring the area. We love little oldie worldie pubs and This is exactly that. Lovely bar staff who let me sample the local cider before I bought it. Lots of memorabilia throughout. Little outdoor smoking section which was ideal. Got talking to friendly locals and ended up spending the evening with them. Great local pub .

Well what can you say about this pub. Hidden little gem. The Guiness is excellent as is the service. We happen to go there on our first night when there was live music on. Great atmosphere and the service is perfect.

We enjoyed a couple of pints here while on holiday in the area, and have to say what a little gem of a place it is. Child friendly, dog friendly, CAMRA member friendly, great local beers... Super. A proper traditional English pub.

Great pub. Guys behind the bar make it greater. I joked I'd complain about them running out of Thatchers glasses but that made me think to actually take the time out to share my appreciation of a damn good watering hole. Top marks

Visited here whilst on holiday. We went on blues night which was brilliant. You could tell it was a proper locals pub but nobody made you feel unwelcome. Brilliant pub to visit whilst visiting appledore highly recommend.

If you are in town, this is a place you must visit if you enjoy music and drinks. Sweetheart place. I’m in love with this place. Great vibes. Awesome performance by the musicians. The beer is great. I bought my own pizza and initially thought that I would spend an hour but ended up staying for around 2.5 hours till the place got closed for the night. Photos and memories of princess Diana were seen in the pub, who I was a fan of in my school days and admired her work.

By far our favourite pub on our recent trip to Appledore! We were made to feel welcome, lovely vibe, great selection of drinks, cold, clean lager, an outside area and the best music playlist I think I’ve ever heard in a pub! Just head straight here if you are out, don’t bother with the others!

I love popping in here for a few jars. Both owners are so lovely and friendly, live music, not expensive either! It’s always a busy little place so they’re certainly getting it right :)

Great back street pub. Eccentric landlord and lady, live music and friendly locals, what more could you want.

Its great that these proper good pubs still exist..we had a good evening there and a warm welcome..lets keep these pubs going..live music good ale buzzy atmosphere..well done Champ we will be back soon.

A great pub with a lovely manager, good selection of drinks. People were very friendly. Enjoyed the fish and chips from next door too which you can eat in the pub. Will definitely be revisiting in the future.

Awesome little bar, great spot for a pint or some live music on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday. Pretty small though, so make sure you get in early!

Folk night. Welcoming and clearly a regular local feature. Turn up and play together. Great place.

Great pub. Lovely relaxed atmosphere even when things got more lively with the Brazillian Street Band playing. They don't do food but you can bring your own in and the chip shop on the corner will even deliver it for you. Small courtyard to the rear makes a nice smoking spot, it was just a shame there was no cover given the torrential rain. Really enjoyable night and look.forward to visiting again 😀

Amazing pub, staff and locals were awesome. Never been more welcomed in a pub in a small town. Any visitors need to give it a go. You won't only go once, we popped in for 1 drink and stayed all week..lol xx

A lovely little authentic pub tucked away just up from the harbour. Lots of music nights, smashing beer and sensibly priced. And you can take your fish and chips in to eat from Sylvester's to eat with your pint! Really worth a visit.

We came here after our terrible experience in Ilfracombe. We had been in here on the Friday night and returned on the Sunday.

We were in The Champ twice this week to try their new menu. On Wednesday we had Sole direct from Appledore Quay and Sunday we had a home-made Champ Pie; all fresh and cooked to perfection at very reasonable prices! Highly recommended 5/5! 🏆
