As Lundy Island is a conservation area, the Marisco Ta ten is the key focal point. Lundy is for walkers really and sadly after booking our holiday I became unwell and now have limited mobility. However, this didn’t stop me having a wonderful time, especially as our Cottage - Square Cottage is right next to the Inn. We ate breakfast, dinner and tea there and every meal was lovely, there is plenty of choice and the staff were brilliant, so helpful and pleasant. I would recommend Lundy Island and ghe Marisco Inn - their drinks selection is brilliant.

Excellent food!! I personally went through the menu over a week on the island, and did have anything that wasn't enjoyable. There's also a well stocked bar, I'm not a drinker so I found the prices for a pint excessive but understand that for most £6 for a Guinness maybe the norm. Once ordered food, it was always on the table within 5 minutes. Perfect. Loads of books to read, board games and the company of others. Brilliant service 👏. Some cushions for seats would be nice.

We visited mid summer and had promised the kids a late pub lunch after exploring Lundy. Having read all the previous positive reviews it’s fair to say we were a little disappointed with the menu. Chips, pasties, jackets and ciabatta. No children’s menu or healthy options. It was fairly priced and quick but not quite what we’d expected. The service from the food team was great but the bar staff weren’t especially friendly.

Breakfast was super as well especially when you're diving the next day 😋 I would like to say a HUGE thank you to the staff as on the last day of my holiday, I rather stupidly left my handbag there 😬😬 🙈🙈 After reaching the mainland (and borrowing a phone) I called the pub who said they had found it and would post it back to me. What can I say? Lundy Island is special in itself and after a day exploring what could be better than the Marisco Tavern. It stays true to the islands traditional values and seems like a museum of all things lundy from the years. Add to that the countless memorabilia from regular stayers on the island and couple it with a vibrant buzz of conversation about your day and you have the Tavern. Open a tab and relax. Now the food. If you want pretentious go elsewhere because this wholesome food is to die for. Generous portions piping hot and a great selection for a small island. They do run out of certain dishes so dine early if you don't want to miss out. The game pie is the best pie I have ever had. A special island with a Marisco heart beating at its middle.

Food was and reasonably priced considering the logistics of importing most things (apart for Lundy lamb, goat and venison!) Two excellent choices of real ale kept my husband happy and I loved the desserts. The real plus point for us was meeting the very friendly staff and finding out more about life on Lundy plus getting a few helpful clues re letterboxing (though we still failed to crack Jenny's cove). A friend and I visited Lundy Island via boat in May 2022 for the day. After walking around the island we stopped for a pub lunch at the Marisco Tavern. Small menu consisting of jacket potatoes, soup and pasties. We had chill jacket potatoes with cheese (extra charge for cheese), can of Thatchers (it’s not on tap) and a cream tea (but it doesn’t include a pot of tea - you have to pay separate for this). Nice food but the chilli was super spicy. The island is amazing and as we were so lucky with the weather it was like being abroad. Burnt to a crisp! There is one ferry onto the island a day and one off the island. Don’t miss it as if I don’t think it runs on a Sunday and they’ve had people sleeping in the church before as they missed the only ferry home!

I have been visiting Lundy on and off for years, and the quality of the menu has improved exponentially in recent years, with much more choice for those with special dietary needs, including vegans and vegetarians. It used to be that you had to speak directly to the chef to even get anything but now everything is labelled - and more to the point there actually is something that you don't have to arrange in advance. I Just wish the lunchtime choice was this good! Alas it's the same old sandwiches, pasties and jacket potatoes - safe but hardly inspiring. At least there is better choice of fillings. I know that lunchtimes are less popular - even on boat days, with in the summer months some preferring to sit in the garden with their own food (I guess even more will choose to do this now with money so tight) but a better choice would perhaps encourage them not to - a ploughmans lunch perhaps. or soup - with gluten free bread at least to go with these and for sandwiches so that those who do need gluten free food (and that's quite a lot of us) actually do have a choice. Having said all this, it's always lovely to visit the island and the Tavern is such a big part of the experience that I would always come for lunch here on arrival no matter what - walking through the door to take in the familiar atmosphere of the pub and greet old friends behind the servery and meet some new ones as the staff change and move on.

For a pair of thrifty 30 year old climbers, we didn't imagine we'd be glued to the Marisco menu for an entire week. Of course, we'd nurse a couple cups of coffee in and some pints in the evening, but eating every night and morning - surely not! Little did we know that the Marisco food was of the heavens! After our first encounter with Louis' immortalised jacket potato, beans and cheese, we were hooked. We went on to devour many a meal, which was always packed full of flavour and homely comfort, perfect for a wind-swept Autumnal week on the Island. Highlights: full-English mushrooms, Soay curry (coming from a 'vegetarian'), filter coffee, coriander garnish on jacket, beans and cheese, burger gherkin, Korevs in the beer garden. We genuinely had the time of our lives, thanks to such down to earth and friendly staff (and a few spectacular panoramics). Until next time!

All the staff were welcoming & friendly and whilst there was a reduced menu, the food was well priced and good hearty fare. I suspect that some negative reviews on here are from people who don't think that Covid restrictions apply to them whilst on holiday and ignored the strict rules, but I welcomed their appraoch and felt perfectly safe as a result as did others who we met during our visit. I’ve never been made to feel less welcome in a pub than I did in the Marisco Tavern. On our first day, I (helpfully I thought) brought my empty glasses through to the bar, but upon passing the threshold was berated by a searingly angry blonde lady, who demanded (with rolled eyes and superlatively aggressive language) that I sanitise my hands before putting down the glasses. I still don’t, and really even can’t, quite understand what she wanted to happen. Juggling? Contortion? Staff seemed confused and actually angered by simple, clearly stated communications. Not special requests you understand – nothing as complicated as ‘no chips with my burger’ – just statements like ‘can I pay by card’ or ‘our order is written on the back of the request form.’ Do prepare for a request form, by the way; to be submitted in advance of, but not earlier than, the same day as your meal – one of the most remarkable responses to coronavirus I’ve seen, and one that is seemingly unnecessary in any other pub. Having submitted the required meal documentation to a member of staff, and after some really incredibly, almost embarrassingly detailed explanation, we went outside for a drink (if only to escape the funk of muted hostility that permeates the bar area). After 15 minutes a bartender came out, to tell us that there weren’t enough meals left of the type we ordered, and that if we wanted to be fed, we had 10 minutes to race down the cliffside, confer with our friends on their order, and return to submit our forms! No apology was forthcoming. That evening, it emerged during our (okay) meal that the order was, even after all this, wrong. Our friends enquired with the waitress, who – incredibly – proceeded to point at us accusatorily, and moaned ‘they didn’t explain it properly’, as if a piece of paper with ~10 words needs detailed explanation. They then charged us for the wrong food, and to the wrong tab. In summary, I would encourage visitors to ensure they have enough food packed to be able to provision themselves during their stay, and I would encourage the Landmark Trust to address this problem.

How sad that after what would have been an outstanding 3 night stay on this magical island the only topic of conversation on the jetty awaiting our departure was how unfriendly and unwelcoming the blonde female member of the Marisco Tavern bar staff was to everyone!Visit the island but don’t visit the Tavern if this women is there - she will make you feel that you are a criminal for entering the pub.Hostile to everyone, no customer service skills and unapologetic for failing to get pre-advised food orders correct. Unable to manage the very customer tab system the pub itself had put in place, and unwilling to acknowledge responsibility for getting the orders or bills wrong. We booked multiple tables for our group as a treat for our final night, spending many hundreds of pounds in the Tavern to support the island economy. However - everything was too much trouble for this woman - who would not accept dessert orders from our group after main courses had been served if these had not been pre-ordered - despite dessert being a pre-packed food service chocolate cheesecake or cheese & biscuits - quick & easy! This could so easily have been handled differently to deliver a positive customer experience. So sad that the tavern which should be a welcoming hub for visitors to the island was such a disappointment.Suggest this member of staff should change her job - better suited to a role which doesn’t involve face to face contact with customers.

What a lovely coffee shop. Friendly staff, excellent taste in music (Taylor Swift). Clean and bright cafe. Hope small businesses like this come through the energy crisis, would be a shame to lose t
