Came here after being recommended it by family who had visited it a couple of years ago and said it was good. Ordered the ribs in BBQ sauce which seemed to be reasonably priced, I assumed being in the heart of Devon it would be good pub food but I found the ribs and BBQ sauce to be tasteless and the ribs in the centre were stone cold. Clearly they had been microwaved instead of being freshly cooked. The problem with any kind of poorly heated up pork product is you risk food poisoning. Considering the length of time we waited for food, which was around an hour, I at least expected the food to be piping hot. The owner seemed a bit miffed that I sent them back to be honest. I very rarely leave bad reviews but I think this visit warrants it.

Bit disappointed to be honest. We drove out of way to visit the junction Inn, as we had read a couple of reviews, which seemed promising. We always make sure any pub we visit is dog friendly, unfortunately I wouldn't class this pub as being that. Dogs are only allowed outside and in the back room which can best be described as a dumping ground. You certainly wouldn't want to eat in there. We sat outside in front of the pub, which luckily wasn't too cold. We both ordered the lasagna and chips. Not the best. The lasagnas came with unmelted cheese on top, chips were half cooked, no garnish or garlic bread. A bit rubbish.

Good honest Devon pub with a welcoming, caring, genuine service and great tasty proper food. The lamb shank was very, very tasty - not the normal fall-off-the-bone-overcooked offering, but a real proper cut of meat really tasting of lamb. The stake and ale pie was also very juicy and tasty, though I was slightly disappointed it had a puff pastry top; still excellent. Ribs were also excellent, very meaty and a nice sauce. Chips great too. Simple but tasty side vegetables clearly freshly cooked. It took a while for the food to arrive but they already warn you about that and it's freshly cooked; it was worth the wait. We stopped for an early evening meal on the way back south from a day out at Bude; we'll definitely be back next time we do that trip. We sat out the front. The back of the pub has a garden of sorts but there were some odd noises and smells there, so I would definitely sit inside the pub or out the front.

The best way of measuring the effectiveness and quality of an organisation is to observe how they manage when things are out of the normal and out of the ordinary. Well out of the ordinary is very simple at the moment we're in the middle of a pandemic with one of the most hardest areas being the hospitality industry. I didn't intend stopping and the junction Inn. I was forced to stop because I suffered a sudden pain attack due to a traumatic brain injury suffered in an accident last year. I had to stop take medication and allow time for it to take effect. I spotted the pub nearby and walked in thinking I would get something to eat and that would help absorb my medication and pass the time for it to take effect. Unfortunately I had arrived 10 minutes after service has stopped from kitchens. The restaurant was closing. I didn't make any special pleading or special case I just asked if it might be possible to have a sandwich. The waitress I was talking to to felt suitably empowered to go to the kitchen and even though it was against the policy to serve food after this time. She asked in the kitchen if they could make a sandwich for me. The kitchen stuff or the chef should have been finishing her end of shift cleaning up in order to get away off home. However she decided not only to make me a sandwich that was a combination of what was on the menu and also started up the fryers produced for me a plate of delicious, hot, crispy chips to accompany my excellent door-step Sandwich. It is a delight to see see responsibility for making the customer happy delegated down from senior management to the shop floor. It speaks very well for the organisation and very well for the management in charge, it speaks well for the entire ethos surrounding the business. It was not a plannec stop on my journey. The next time I visit it will be.

We were staying a mile away from this pub so decided to try it. There was a warm welcome and all the usual covid precautions were in place. We ordered steak & kidney pie with chips and fish pie. Both arrived with vegetables of the day. What a surprise! We had 6 vegetables, all beautifully cooked and presented. Carrots, broccolli, cabbage, creamed swede, red cabbage and cauliflower. These days most establishments are meat heavy with minimal veg. Both pies were generous and we enjoyed them but I thought the sauce in the fish pie could have been thicker and the mash on top was rather sloppy. However this is a personal observation. If you are in Halwill Junction we really recommend this pub!

We Pre booked, as we were advised. We are on our holiday, and picked the junction, as the reviews & menu looked fantastic. If I am judging on COVID top notch. Staff all complied with social distancing. We couldn’t of asked for more. Now the food! We both had the piri piri prawns, served with sweet chilli sauce & lime. Our main courses I chose the half breast of chicken burger £5:95. That was just for a chicken burger on a bun with salad on. So I added chips, cheese, bacon & coleslaw. So by the time you added it all up the chicken, cheese n Bacon burger cost £10:25. So as you can imagine I was expecting g a feast. My husband choose the mixed grill. Just after the bar tender was asked to go hone early as the pub wasn’t busy enough. Our starters arrived 5 breaded prawns deep fried on a bed of rocket, with chilli sauce, but no lime! They were tasty. Our mains came in a timely manner. My husbands mixed 2 sausages a piece of gammon roped with an egg, steak, small rack of small ribs in BBQ sauce( husband commented that he thought they were from a pigeon). Peas & side salad & onion rings. Looked amazing. Sausages looked budget sausages & deep fried. My Husband commented that the whole dish was greasy & tasteless. My half a breast chicken burger, well.......I had grated cheese on the bottom, with 3 lots of sliced chicken, that would of been about half a breast, with a slice of bacon underneath. Once I bit into the burger it noticed it was Luke warm. As we never got a check back I couldn’t inform the waitress of the burger. I left half as it was too cold to eat. The chips were hot & crispy, but peppered with black bits, which to suggest the oil needs changing. As the waitress came to collect our plates I told her my burger was cold. The bill was brought with An apology. I was shocked at a bill of £47:10. On that was only 1 glass of wine & a J20. As my husband passed the kitchen, he saw a young lad working no hat or hair on, and rubbish on the floor. Safe to say we will not be re visiting. And we now understand why the pub was not busy. Will not be revisiting.
