The food and service was amazing I would recommend to eat here, lovely place to eat the owners are great and so friendly and make you so welcome

Had a lovely Sunday roast with the beef cooked to perfection, finished off with a delicious homemade brownie and ice cream. On another occasion had the steak which was also cooked just how I’d asked. Prices are very reasonable for the quality, and produce tastes fresh, the perfect country pub atmosphere.

We came across this pub whilst on holiday, we called in for a drink and ended up doing so on several occasions do to the great personalities of Barry & Caroline. They had only taken over the pub 2 weeks earlier and have taken to it like ducks to water! The hosting was fantastic & so was the food. The bar staff were lovely, very friendly & welcoming. Even though living in Norfolk, some distance away, we shall certainly be going back.

New owners, three weeks in... Change in menu. A bit cheaper than previously, but the food was awesome. Huge portions. The cheeseburger was tasty and the home-made chips were top-notch. My wife had fish pie, which she described as being delicious. The father in law said the chicken in his hunters chicken must've been a weight lifter, it was so big. The kids food was also great. The beer was tasty. St Austell a plenty. All in all a great experience. I know the owners will add their own touches in time, but they've made a great start. it was a little quiet there, but it was just a random Thursday. I look forward to visiting again in October.

We came across The Hart Inn whilst exploring Hartland Quay and surrounding area. The owners were very friendly and made us feel really welcome. We ordered food and were very impressed by the quality of the meal, even the fussy teenage daughter! Great atmosphere, lovely staff and amazing location. Will definitely be returning.

Staff very friendly but very disappointing meal from limited menu!! It was explained there was approx 30 min delay on food orders, but mains took 1hr 10mins and were unimpressive on arrival. I would not recommend this as a place to eat!!!

The Hart is under new management. They have made a good start. Three of us in our family had a very good meal here in a friendly atmosphere.

Good local beer and cider, delicious food and on top a super friendly service. We will come back whenever we are nearby!

Went on Saturday, found a table ordered a drink, then picked up menu and was told fully booked, no food, but we found a table!!! Heard several stories later, would not recommend!!

We arrived as a big group with no booking. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate us and even arranged for the chef to come in early so that they could cater for us. Thank you so much for putting up with our craziness we enjoyed our time, food, drinks and custom at your lovely pub

From the moment we walked in. The landlord was a breath of fresh air and made us feel most welcome. The pub has a welcoming atmosphere and the food is sublime. Well worth a visit.

What a lovely evening and meal! The guy that served us was absolutely brilliant! Such a kind service! Our dog is a bit fearful and he was so happy and enjoying his time while we had dinner! He got a few treats too! We vising for a few days and we def recommend it! Food was delicious and we had an apple crumble that was so nice too!

Went here for valentine's night,had the pork starter, chicken supreme partner had steak and we had biscoff cheesecake.What can I say it was all absolutely delicious and the price was very very reasonable.I live local and don't go out very often,after this visit I shall certainly be going back.Just fab.Thankyou.

Lovely valentines menu with starter Prawns. Steak for main and fudge cake for dessert. I can only describe the steak as one of the best I have ever had. Highly recommend. Thanks Michelle and Paul

Sunday lunch (braised steak) @ The Hart today - itreally very good, large portions home cooked and an extra plate of veg included. The Apple Crumble & Bakewell Tart is recommended.

We called for a table at the pub at the last minute. It was a busy night as the Hartland Farmers' Market - Christmas special was also on, but they found room for us. It was a busy evening but service was prompt, the staff were friendly, and we enjoyed our dinner there. Well recommended.

Atmosphere given 5 stars although our group of four were the only ones in as we couldn't have been more welcomed, and it's a hard time in the pub business. Food was excellent, and we'll certainly be returning soon.

This is a lovely old pub with a welcoming restaurant and food to match. The owners are constantly in attendance make sure their exacting standards are met. They both make you feel at home and relaxed we will return regularly even though we live more than 200 miles away, would definitely recommend.

Lovely setting with excellent ambience. The food was freshly cooked and full of flavour, friendly attentive staff and good value for money will definitely be back again.

A lovely decorated and laid out pub/restaurant with a nice beer garden and play area for children at the rear Very helpful and friendly staff, could see food being delivered to tables near us and it all looked lovely and judging by the comments was very nice. Sadly we were only able to go in once as the opening hours were quite odd, expected it would be open Saturday afternoon or Sunday evening given we were there bank holiday weekend but it wasn’t so check the opening hours beforehand

We visited the Hart Inn for dinner while staying locally and we were really impressed with the food - it was easily the best meal we had while we were away. I had one of the specials and my hubbie had the chicken supreme. Both were equally delicious. And our son’s kids meal was both tasty and a good size. The service was great too. I highly recommend a visit here.

When we arrived we were told they were short staffed and they had no idea how long food would take and we would be better off going elsewhere. I wish we had now! But there was a games room and pool table and my children wanted to stay. When the food arrived it was really disappointing. My lasagne was hard around the edges. My daughters burger bun was stale and the kids burgers didn’t taste great and were undercooked. While we were eating, other customers were turned away. A bad experience.

Rude staff via Facebook messenger when I had to cancel a booking due to a change of circumstances. Hate to think what the customer service is like in person!

Popped in Friday evening without a reservation. They were able to seat us and I'm glad they did. The food was absolutely delicious - we had plaice, chicken supreme and the chocolate brownie. The service was lovely and relaxed and the music was great too: Razor Light and The Kooks. Would definitely visit again when I'm down this way

We dined here twice in our week's stay. The landlord and his wife were both friendly and very accommodating and, despite being busy, were able to squeeze us in - as a group of 7 - on the first occasion (we booked after!). The food is pub fayre, well done and good portions. I had the haunch of venison which was good. Service was efficient and despite being busy they got the food out quickly. The restaurant area at the back is a nice spacious area and they have a play area out the back for the kids to let steam off. Price-wise it was good value at about £25 per head for 2 courses, drinks and service. Definitely go back next time we're down in Hartland

This pub has a wonderful ambiance and welcomes couples, families, and regulars very well. The food quality was excellent, and the service was attentive and polite. We were delighted with the menu and enjoyed our meals very much indeed. We will definitely return when we come back to Hartland.

We were staying at a nearby glamping site and after seeing some of the reviews decided to book as our first night meal & very glad we did. Lovely welcoming staff, good selection of beer and food was delicious. We had the venison. Beautifully cooked and presented and at a very reasonable price. Would definitely recommend.

Went for more… Randomly called in one early evening (what we call tea time), had a lovely meal and a couple of drinks. Throughly enjoyed it, so went back again. Well worth a visit for good food, good drink and good service! We went twice for dinner during our 4 night visit to Devon. All meals were great and the staff were lovely.

Booked a Sunday Lunch here during a recent stay nearby and were very pleased we did. The food was absolutely top notch, beautifully cooked and really tasty. Service was also very friendly and prompt. If you’re down this way, it’s the place to visit for a great meal. Highly recommended.

Das Lokal ist sehr schön eingerichtet und gemütlich. Die ganze Familie ist engagiert und außerordentlich freundlich und hilfsbereit. Unser Hund wurde liebevoll begrüßt. Die fish and chips wurden mit Remoulade und Erbsen serviert. Das Essen war frisch zubereitet und geschmacklich sehr lecker. After a long walk the Hart Inn,was just what we needed. It was quite they let the dog in and the Staff we friendly. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. 5 🌟

The Hart In is the place to go if you want a fabulous meal at a reasonable price. Definitely not the usual pub fare! We had the haunch of venison & sirloin steak. Both cooked to perfection. We have been travelling all over England for 3 months and this was the best pub meal we've had. Hosts Paul & Michael are doing a brilliant job!

Had Sunday lunch here and it didn't disappoint. The beef was melt in your mouth and the roasties were lovely and crispy. Staff very friendly and polite. Great range of drinks to choose from and all in a lovely setting.. Landlord and Landlady were top notch..

Recently visited the hart inn And It was amazing Beautiful building and very good food Being an Annoying Vegan It’s hard to find a place that serves good Vegan food But The Hart is like nowhere else I have been, the food was amazing The staff were polite and smart and had good Knowledge about their food and the surrounding area The owners also work there and were absolutely lovely This place was the highlight of my Visit If you are ever in or near Hartland Devon you should definitely check this place out

Stumbled across this place whilst on holiday and I'm so glad we did! We ended up going 3 times as the food was exceptional. The Sunday roast is the best I have ever had.

A very welcome fish and chips and a very substantial mixed grill at the end of a day's walking in the rain! Dog friendly too.

Hartland is blessed with 3 great pubs. A great pub with a nice garden, great food and friendly accommodating owners.

A meal of 2 halves. Arrived early doors for evening meal after a coastal walk. Lovely pub & pleasant staff. It was quiet with only a handful of diners at that time so I can't imagine the kitchen was rushed off its feet. I ordered catch of the day, sea bass, sautéed potatoes, salsa Verde (all great) however seasonal veg part of meal (broccoli and greens) I'm sorry to say was boiled grey and heated up, im guessing left over from some previous service, really disappointed as spoiled the meal. I did.mention it to waitress. £18.95 is not a cheap main so when a third of the plate is inedible it doesn't represent value for money no matter how nice the pub and staff are and I felt a bit of a tourist mug. Hope it was a one off, off day, shame it was at my expense. staff. I pl0pleasantstaff

Family of 3. We ate at The Hart Inn for two of our 3 night stay in the area. On entering we were made to feel very welcome by Paul and his team. Our son loved the play area and his brownies! The food was freshly cooked and excellent. A really nice place with a really nice family running it. It was nice to hear a local accent, all be it from a few hundred miles away! A really lovely village pub, lots of beautiful traditional style, yet modern dining areas, an outdoor space and a kids play area. The food was high end pub grub, with a really good range of foods for all tastes, including vegetarian options and kids meals. Portions were really good sizes and the puddings were huge! Staff were super friendly and fit us in even though they were really busy. Definitely recommend a visit.

We took advantage of the Spanish themed Paella 3 course meal. We were not disappointed. The staff were very keen to serve, and were happy to replace the sweet item with a very generous portion of Sorbet. We would definitely return here.

We walked in and were greeted with a lovely warm welcome . We wanted lunch and they were really accommodating. The food we ordered arrived quickly and it was delicious. I had roast lamb and he had brisket. The lightest of Yorkshire puddings and plenty of vegetables. The homemade pineapple upside down cake for pudding was freshly homemade and still warm from the oven, oh my goodness it was good!! We will definitely visit again because it was too good to drive pass 😁

Nice food, huge portions, so big that we couldn't face dessert. Bit of a hiccup in the ordering process in that they forgot us (45 minutes and forgot ordered toppings on the burgers) and deducting one beer off the menu wasn't quite as apologetic as it could have been but lots of apologies verbally.

Great food and a super place with a variety of bars and rooms to cater for everyone. We were made to feel very welcome.
