We stopped here Monday 14th Oct just for a drink but the food we saw coming out looked good, so we decided to have a meal we had the seafood platter it was delicious 😁 I usually don’t eat squid as it’s taste like rubber but the squid was amazing. We had desserts too and the crumble was lovely 🥰 The guys serving us were both friendly attentive polite and funny too Will definitely be returning before our weeks break is over (remember to take photos next time)

Food very mediocre and cold. Service was good. My roast turkey dinner looked nothing like the appetising picture on the menu. The mingy portion of roast potatoes were tough and stale. The frozen vegetables were watery. The turkey was preformed. One had beef rib and the rib was tender but same complaint about potatoes and vegd. Only six chips on the child’s meal. Would not return and will not recommend

I would highly recommend the Sunday carvary, food served lovely and hot and vegetables cooked to perfection, all fresh. We have just spent the last few hours enjoying one of the best roast dinners. The service was excellent and the staff were really nice helpful.

Stopping off for morning coffee was a very different experience to when we visited the same week for evening drinks and was excellent (reviewed separately). The wait for the drinks to reach our table was unacceptable and when they did arrive my cappuccino was mostly froth, very little liquid! My husband said he heard the lady on the next table saying exactly the same thing. Wouldn't recommend for coffee. A pet hate of mine is when cakes are displayed without prices as was the case here.

Food was of a high quality. Thoroughly delicious. Mindy was such a good hostess and very attentive with a lovely smiley face 😊 The young Polish man (sorry we did not get your name) was very pleasant and helped look after us. We’ll be back again soon!

I looked on line for restaurants in Paignton to book up for my sons birthday. He works in Dartmouth so we bring our caravan down to visit him a few times a year. Read reviews about La Scala and booked a table. During the booking I mentioned we were coming to celebrate my sons birthday. I was asked his name and I gave it. We were surprised to find the manager or owner, Maximillian had decorated our table , put a banner in the window and a birthday card from the staff. Wonderful, warm welcome. Restaurant is not large but small and comfortable. From the reviews I had read I expected the food to be good but it far exceeded our expectations. Lots of choice for starters and main meals . Also nice that the manager took the time to chat to us. What a relaxing experience. Water and fresh bread was brought to the table whilst we perused the menu. Once decided we enjoyed the house wine which was reasonably priced and quite pleasant. We had a mixture of starters which were outstanding and decent sized portions. We tasted each others and all three were superb. Frequent visits to ensure we were satisfied were made by the Manager . If we thought the starters were good we were amazed how good the main meals were. Warm , tasty and well presented. An absolute delight. Didn't really have room for dessert but squeezed one in. Again smashing, decadent but nice !! The ambience in the restaurant was very good, we felt quite at home and relaxed throughout the evening. Even more surprised when a birthday cake with candles was brought to our table and staff and guests sang Happy Birthday. My adult son had a good laugh. All I can say is don't hesitate when you look for Italian restaurants, this is the one to go to. It looks a little small from the outside but there is enough room to be cosy and comfortable and has an expansive menu. Spoilt for choice. Will I go again. Can't wait. Thank you to Maximillian and staff for such a pleasant evening . We will certainly recommend you to friends and family especially those that come to that area with their caravans, boats etc. A visit to La Scala should be included in any visit to Paignton or surrounding areas.

Our recent stay at Lincombe Hall Hotel & Spa was unfortunately overshadowed by a disappointing and awkward dining experience. We were handed a menu that displayed prices, but there was no clear explanation of whether our dinner was included in our package or how additional charges would apply. We had to ask our server, who confirmed that dinner was indeed included. After finishing our meal, we headed back to our room, thinking all was settled. However, shortly after, a staff member knocked on our door, stating that we had left without paying. This intrusion felt unnecessary and uncomfortable, particularly as they could have simply addressed it at checkout. Initially, the waiter informed us we owed £120 for the dinner. He then went back and checked with the manager and said that we owed £30 for a sauce and steak addition—something that could have been clarified in advance. After spending £450 for our stay, this experience felt rude and unprofessional. A hotel of this caliber should be able to handle minor charges discreetly, without making guests feel accused. Sadly, we left with a poor impression of the service. Not what we expected, and a shame given the reputation of the place. We certainly had a far better experience in July 2022 where the place, the service and the politeness of the staff left us astonished. But I'm sorry, after the last experience, I wouldn't recommend this place. 1 star.
