Toby and Dean thank you Brilliant hosts and service that matched wonderful food I had hake and highly recommend . Friends had fish pie and recommend this to. Views of harbour while we are added to ambulance. Try the brew we did ! Thank you we will certainly come back again

A lovely harbourside location, only a short stroll from our hotel. We were greeted by a member of staff and shown to our table which had been booked online the evening before. We had no trouble booking at such short notice but think this would be an issue in the height of summer. The restaurant tables are upstairs with views overlooking either the harbour or Esplanade, twinkling fairy lights are strung across all the beams giving a lovely atmosphere. In summer, al fresco eating would be an option too. We each had three courses, all were excellent and very tasty. The prices were reasonable too. All in all, a very good evening and made up for the mediocre meal served at the hotel on the first night of our stay. I'm sure if we lived locally this restaurant would be a regular choice.

Belated birthday meal . Ordered Mussels and spicy Chorizo bites both very tasty.. fish & chips with curry sauce oviustly and Angus burger..wine & cider all very tasty and hot ..was feeling a bit cold so asked if they could turn up the heating which was done for me by Steph the waitress who was very professional friendly and a very pleasant young lady. We have been here a few times before with family and as a couple ..we will be back again love the food and the atmosphere also friendly staff.

Arriving at Harbour Lights we were greeted by a pleasant member of staff. After confirming our reservation we were shown to our table. The staff were attentive but not overly so, this was great we had time to have a drink and choose our meal in a timely manner. The menu was very good. A selection of fish, vegan and meat dishes were offered. Again the quality of the food was excellent. I can't fault Harbour lights. Their service, ambience and quality of food and the service by staff is very good.

Booked a table for 10 last Friday and I have to say it was a delightful experience from start to finish. I received a warm welcome upon arrival and was shown to our table. The food and drinks were delicious and good value. Our whole group had a lovely experience and we will certainly book here again. The only thing was the lighting in the area was although lovely it was a little dark to read the menu and it made me smile when people had their phone lights out to read them 😊, but it was not a major issue just a little niggle.

Booked a table to dine at 20:30 ,it was quiet but prefer to know we have a table.We like the moules as a main, with warm bread 🥖 and fries. Staff are allways welcoming and attentive, the vibe upstairs is charming, and particularly relaxed after the madness of New Year. Will return again, when in Paington 😘

Had fish and chips all frozen food not alot of it well over priced won't be recommended it to anyone in future I'll go down the road to the new wetherspoons better value better amount

Only popped in for some chips, but made very welcome and got a complementary drink! A pleasant change to what we expected.

I booked a table for New Year’s Eve for 11 people in October and paid a deposit in early December to secure the booking. We arrived at 7.30pm and received a warm and courteous welcome. We were shown to our table upstairs and we were told that that there was about a thirty minute wait for food.which wasn’t a problem as there were 11 of us covering three generations and we were looking forward to a pleasant family evening together. We ordered drinks and then ordered our food. A number of the party are vegetarian so some of our main meals were combinations of starters and sides which didn’t seem to be a problem. Our initial order was 2 starters and 11 mains. The 2 starters arrived and were eaten. We then waited and waited and waited for the mains to arrive. No member of the waiting staff came to ask if everything was alright or to clear the table. At around 9pm my daughter in law got up from the table to make contact with a member of staff to ask how long the mains would be. The staff member went to the kitchen and when she came back she said it would be 10 to 15 minutes. By the time the meals arrived 9 out of the 11 in the group had been waiting for the best part of 2 hours to get any food! We asked why the meals had taken so long and we were told that the manager would have a word with us. In the meantime another staff member came over to speak to us but we asked him to leave us in peace until we had finished eating our long overdue meals. The staff member returned when we had finished and attempted to justify the delay on the basis that main meals aren’t prepared until the starters are cleared. In the event our starters weren’t cleared until after the mains arrived so how long would we have waited if we hadn’t asked for them? Fortunately the manager arrived at this point and made a sensible offer of recompense to partly compensate us for a very poor service experience. Unfortunately we ran out of time for deserts because we had other plans for the rest of the evening. I still don’t know why there was a problem with our meals. Were there too many customers and not enough staff or were we just forgotten? In summary the positives of our visit were a). Good welcome and general ambience of the restaurant itself. b). Flexible approach to meal combinations c). Recognition by the manager that the level of service that we had received was not good enough. The negatives were d). No communication from any staff member after we placed our initial order. Basically no one minding our table. e). One member of staff trying to defend poor service rather than admitting that something had gone seriously wrong. f). No explanation of what had happened. Were we forgotten because we only had two starters or were there serious staffing issues? Needless to say we won’t be rushing back!

Popped in for coffee on New Years Day. Extremely friendly and efficient service. Great coffee. Beautifully and tastefully decorated for Christmas. Nicest place in Paignton.

The best roast dinner I’ve had in a long time. The beef was delicious and cooked to perfection, lovely roast potatoes and the right amount of vegetables for the two of us. Oh and a huge Yorkshire pudding. Wonderful service too. And the dogs stayed downstairs so a dog free dining room was perfect upstairs.

Lovely restaurant & setting overlooking the harbour. Excellent food & service. Would have given 5 stars but saw the girl behind the bar blowing her nose & I didn’t see her wash her hands before she took food to customers. Now I have a cold.

Lovely evening out as a family to the restaurant. The staff were attentive and the food was of a very high quality and well-presented. A little bit expensive for the starters and desserts but we enjoyed the evening as a special treat. Would definitely visit again.

A lovely venue over looking Paignton harbour. The option to have a drink or dine. There is outside decking. The food was nice. More expensive than your standard restaurant, but if you want freshly cooked local produce with a sea view. You will pay for it.

We had a relaxing evening celebrating our 37th anniversary which was enhanced by Freya!! She was friendly, efficient and very personal, answering all our questions and taking her time waiting on us. We are on a bus tour and leaving tmo or we would definitely return. We loved our seafood platter! I think grilled the sardines longer, until more crispy might be better but we loved it all.

Went for a meal while on holiday in Paignton. Met by friendly, welcoming staff at the front door. Escorted upstairs to a lovely authentic dining room. Service was great. Staff really friendly. Food really tasty and good sized portions. Booked in now for their Sunday roast.

A beautiful restaurant, the upstairs area is so welcoming and lit up beautifully, I would advise you to book in advance and request the upstairs. We sat outside on the terrace which has an amazing view over the harbour and sea. It did get a bit chilly but blankets were provided. The waitress service was excellent and the lady was very attentive. The food was presented well and tasted delicious. Good value for money

Nice friendly staff. Lovely restaurant, lovely views lucky enough to eat on the upstairs terrace. We did have to wait a long time for the food, my Daughters meal wasn’t very warm on arrival and by the time they had gone downstairs to get the veg it was cold. I had the lamb which was very nice although not very warm. I think some of the drinks are very over priced. It hasn’t put us off as it’s such a nice place. If you are on the Terrace eating beware of the seagulls 😊

Wow, this place performed perfectly for our family Sunday lunch. I had booked online, a table for 5 which had wheelchair access, once we arrived we were told we were upstairs. I was amazed the place had a lift which Dad fitted into on his mobility scooter. Once he had landed on the first floor he parked up at our table, plenty of room. Two of the party had roasts which were cooked well and served hot. Three had the dressed crab, all were happy with their choices. Puddings were then ordered, sorbet, sticky toffee and chocolate brownie. All very nice and finished our meal splendidly. We will visit again ,perhaps just for a drink under a sun umbrella outside but definitely for another meal. Well done team

What a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon/ evening. The staff were friendly and efficient, the food was so good the lamb melted in your mouth and the vegetables were cooked perfectly. We will be returning soon.

Such a lovely find! Initially popped in for drinks then returned and was not disappointed. Drinks and food of very good quality. Service was attentive but not overly so. Should we ever return to Paignton, we would definitely return.

We sat outside in the sunshine, lovely place. Just check your bill before you pay, was overcharged, but was rectified. The upstairs in restar looked very clean, the toilets where clean and tidy.

Lovely meal for a friends birthday. Fantastic to see that there was a gluten free menu and not just one meal I could have. Sophie was excellent and caring about my gluten allergy. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Lovely Harbour setting and great meal. The pub caters for dogs and even has a doggy treats corner. Staff (Catherine) were very friendly, the meal was great and service was quick. Have eaten here a few times and have never been disappointed. On this occasion Phil was in the kitchen and served up a lovely meal for us (4 in total tonight). We look forward to returning

Really great food and Catherine, Beau and Jess provided great customer service. We both had the fish and chips with the chip shop upgrade and I can safely say it was one of the best fish and chips we have had in ages. Not only that one of the best meals we have had in a long time, and we eat out often!! Well done Eric and team!! Our dog was also made to feel 100% welcome and enjoyed using the doggy station. Will be coming again!!

Don’t often leave reviews but felt obliged to as one of the best restaurant experiences I’ve had recently! Called in twice during our short stay in Paignton, firstly we were drawn to the location in the harbour it’s a great setting and can imagine it’s thriving in the summer months! The second visit we had dinner and the food was outstanding. The staff all very amazing, extremely polite and service with a smile which is nice to see! Would 100% recommend a visit if in the area.

Always wonderful for drinks. Fabulous decor, no expense spared.If you like steak, their 10oz rump is exceptional. Cooked to perfection. The peppercorn sauce is something else, it’s so rich, almost like it’s made with real beef stock. Chips certainly double fried at least, crispy exterior and fluffy inside.The mussel dish is lovely too, wonderful sauce, bread fresh. Another thing I noticed was the plates were warmed, seems obvious but many restaurants fail to do this and it’s a big bare of mine

Went in here tonight, hadn't booked a table but Joe said we could have a drink before the people came who had reserved it but then managed to get us a table to eat. We both had thai curry with seafood, really lovely. The food was really nice. The staff couldn't have been friendlier. The setting is lovely overlooking the harbour. Would definitely recommend

My husband and I had lunch here with our 7 week old baby - first proper meal out of the house! Our server was Laura and she was an absolute delight. She found us a table with sun and shade so our baby could nap in peace whilst the husband and I sunned ourself on the balcony with a beer looking out to sea. The food was delicious (crab sandwich was so fresh) and they have a great selection of local ales. We couldn’t recommend this restaurant enough - and ask for Laura! Excellent service :)

Great first place to sit in and have a wine after lockdown. Staff were great, Tracey served us and was very helpful and friendly.

We sat downstairs.Two mains of the yellow Thai curry with added seafood and moules.The Thai curry was thin lacked flavour and spice.The mussels, had an excellent sauce but about a third were gritty. Whilst that is a feature of natural mussels, so many indicates less adequate preparation.Redeeming feature was very good Proper Job beer.

We came here in May for my wife’s 40th birthday. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and helped decorate the table as a surprise prior to our arrival. Our waitress, Laura Page, made us feel at ease straight away and was very prompt with our drinks order. Laura provided fantastic service with a smile and made our evening very relaxed and enjoyable. Myself and my wife shared the seafood platter (pictured and would highly recommend!) and our 4 teenage children enjoyed hunters chicken (x2), burger and a veg Thai curry... all had clean plates which is always a good sign! Laura brought out the birthday cake for pudding and Laura then proceeded to lead in a chorus of ‘happy birthday’! Thank you, Laura! Overall, a wonderful family meal and would highly recommend!

While visiting family in Paignton, we found this restaurant an absolute gem of a find! Our server, Catherine, was amazing. She was helpful and gave us such a friendly warm welcome. The food was so fresh and full of flavour - our compliments to the chefs, Jamie, Tracey and Will. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Needless to say we will definitely be coming back with the family!Thank you to the fabulous staff - you made it a truly memorable time.

The bream fish is the tastiest I have had. Jamie the chef produced a delicately cooked fish subtly seasoned with herbs and the chunky chips which were crispy and golden on the outside. Well done Jamie.I was greeted by a warm, friendly and humorous server called Catherine who was relaxed and professional - I will definitely revisit when back in Paignton.
