The Old Coaching Inn in Torbay

When open we come here often when we are down from London, Rolly and the other gentleman who serve us are always great fun to chat with. Prices are very reasonable and the various spaces at the venue are well worth an adventure alone!

Was looking forward to visiting this place again as we were spending a few days in brixham..however on our visit all the cask ale had been removed and only selling fizz which is a pity as they were passionate about their ales.

Stumbled into this quirky place during our last night in Brixham celebrating our W/A. Found staff to be friendly and very accommodating. Would definitely look at staying here the next time we’re in Brixham as the location is excellent.

Stopped for a scone (they sell individual scones with jam and cream). Delicious! And just what was needed.

Popped in for a late lunch pint and a snack. There were a couple of Dartmouth Brewery ales dispensed under gravity directly from the cask. The downside of this is that the beer is too warm and has no head. It would be worth the owner investing in a couple of handpumps and some sort of cooling equipment. The home made sausage roll was excellent.

Great pub they always make you fill welcome didn't have food but sure that would be great to.

Friendly welcoming staff . Fantastic food. Top quality fresh ingredients . Generous portions and very reasonably prices for the quality of food. Highly recommended. Will definitely return when back in the area.

If you don't look you will miss it On Fore Street in Brixham. We walked passed it one evening going back to our holiday apartment on the harbour. I'm a lover of everything jazz 🎶 and I was drawn to the music that I could hear. So the following day I went back. Great selection of hard spirits, beers, wine and cider. All i can say is buy your favourite tipple or try something new and CHILL 😎

We had our wedding here back in October. The new restaurant was amazing. Our food was great and the staff where lovely. The chef did 3 courses for 20+ people and all came out tasting great. They even dressed our table for us. Then we went into the disco area. It was brilliant and we really enjoyed it. Really friendly and nice atmosphere.

Best pub in Brixham, Roly is a legend and the vibe is always just right. Beer is always delicious.

A friend hired the back room for a birthday party. The staff were welcoming, the room was perfect - the ambience, size and age (clearly a building with some history), as well as the technology - that allowed us to select our own music and have it on a projector screen. The toilet was great and the locals were friendly enough. However, the absolute star of the whole experience was Josh the barman. As well as obviously enjoying the music and games, he couldn't have been more helpful and jolly. He also treated us to a fantastic party piece - a ribald pirate song (although this was NSFW or for the faint of heart) . He even did a repeat rendition at the end of the night when we were clearing up.

Brilliant 70th birthday party at the Old Coaching Inn last night! Excellent music & wine, & the food was really delicious too!

Simply amazing at every level. Chose it for special party and the food the service was way beyond our expectations. Highly recommended to anyone. Best venue in Brixham.

At the rear of the property but serving excellent real ales from the barrel. If you go ask for a sausage roll they are excellent.

Nice place, good Irish beer. Edit: In response to the owner..I really enjoyed the Open Gate Citra. I was hoping to sample some local craft beers/ales but really struggled to find any while in Devon. Not sure why that is.

Went and was full of youngsters but found fab room which was like sitting in your grans comfty lounge.. Landlady was lovely as well as staff.

My partner and I call in every time we are in Brixham. Josh the barman is very comical and has an excellent singing voice and at Pirate Festival can produce a few shanties to make your laugh or toes curl (depending who's in and the time of night!!). The owners are always about and offer such a warm welcome. The large meeting area has a large video screen, so you can choose your own tracks and reminisce over the videos or have a dance (i'm always too busy looking at the video!). There are quiet rooms and an outside area as well. Food is good and as someone has already mentioned Sausage Rolls and Quiche are home made - try the curry sausage rolls! Lovely venue with great atmosphere and wife range of different events.

We stumbled on The Old Coaching Inn whilst on a weekend stay for the pirate festival. What a fabulous find. The atmosphere was amazing. Great music and what lovely staff. Lesley Jane really cared about her customers and that we had a great time. Will we visit again? Definitely! It will be our first port of call next year. 😀😀

We called in for something to eat and to enquire about hosting a workshop here. The staff and owners were so friendly and helpful and took the time to have a chat with us about the history of the beautiful inn. The atmosphere is so cosy and friendly we didn't want to leave. The food you could tell was all home made and was absolutely delicious. We can't wait to visit again. Thank you for making our visit so enjoyable xx

We visit Brixham often and love to have a cosy drink here . The staff are so friendly and are always happy .My hub is a big fan of Devon Mist and me a gin fan ,and theres loads to chose from . Oh and the Sausage rolls are handmade by the landlady ..Not just sausage rolls ...these are Coaching Inn Sausage rolls ..full of pure pork and apple !! Try em ..they are to die for !!

what a fab evening we had in here.. Nice decor, room for a dance floor, good music with requests, amusing bar staff... Will definitely returning on our nights out.

We were told to go here by a barman in our hotel, we were a tad merry so i really couldnt find it the next day but i remember the barnam was friendly and the people we met in there were chatty, nice ale nice staff , wish i had found it sooner.

We have been coming to this pub, when in Brixham, since it opened. Each year it gets better and better. It's definitely the best place for a fab night out, with exceptional staff and with a great atmosphere.

Superb,straight out the keg ales -served how they should be. Friendly staff - quirky rooms-singing barman-chilled vino. A must visit when out and about in Brixham.

This is a fascinating little bar spread across several different rooms off a central outdoor corridor. Fantastically friendly service and a good range of drinks on tap, including some good ales and ciders. We found ourself in the front room which is really cosy with a fire burning. Worked out perfectly with the kids as we weren’t disturbing other patrons and were well away from the bar. Doesn’t have the waterfront location of some of the other pubs, but makes up for this with friendly service and very comfortable atmosphere. Strongly recommend.

This was a fab pub, although it looks closed from the street so I think they need to do more to make it look open and more obviously like a pub. We were very glad we wandered in, but it was always quiet and it deserves to be busier! Gorgeous local cider on tap and a wall of barrels showcasing local beer, this place should be heaving!

Enjoyed a fantastic traditional Folk weekend here courtesy Pennymoor Singaround from Mid Devon, with all the quality ales & drinks & good food this Inn offers. Dog & kiddie friendly, excellent disabled access & facilities. Has a set-back bar and function area on one side with a bohemian vibe, and comfy family rooms on the other with puzzles & games, even videos for the children. The landlady is very obliging and the bar staff amusing and cheerful. A curious place, quite unique, worth checking out if you like something alternative.

As you enter the Old Coaching Inn, you go into the bar area on the right hand side and order your food and drinks there. You can then either sit down in the bar area or in a comfy front room to the left of the entrance.

What a great place. Welcoming, great selection of ales and ciders, live music on certain nights. Have been coming to Brixham for 18 years and visited most of the bars. The Old Coaching Inn has been lovingly restored and has an open door policy for all. If you fancy a laugh and a warm welcome, try this place.

We come to the OCI every time we visit family in Brixham. Contrary to a previous short sighted and unfair review, the OCI is a lovely place to wind down over a few real ales and good chat. The bar area is very homely and changes later on to accommodate music.

It looks a mess at the front but we thought it would be ok. What an error. Dirty, slow, rude staff and a mess throughout. Steer clear, there are many good pubs nearby.

Stumbled across this by accident really, but a very friendly welcome helpful bar staff and nothing was to much trouble when questions were asked about the bitters on offer. There was a good selection of drinks and snacks for children. We did not have a meal so can not comment on this.

Really homey and welcoming bar installed at the heart of Brixham. I was served drinks with very friendly staff. Didn't get to try the food, but I'll back! :D

Popped in again with Marisa and Marley. Josh the barman recommended some nice Devonshire ales on tap - all went down a treat. Leslie provided us with a taster of her scones, all beautifully made and tasty, can’t wait to see the Bakery open. Roly the landlord is doing a great job refurbishing the Inn, it’s astonishing how good the place is looking. Our local away from home to visit! Thanks again the Old Coaching Inn team.

What can I say, this is proper pub grub at its best, an Irish beef pie fit for a king. A proper meat-filled pie with a tasty crust, well cooked vegetables & well accompanied with Sandford Orchard Cloudy Mist Cider, perfick!

Arrived on a quiet evening ,welcomed by a pleasant helpful land lord . We had Irish steak and ale which arrived piping hot there was a generous plate full and the pie was full of meat, and we thourghly enjoyed our meal and would be happy to recommend it to future visitors.

A strange place but welcoming and dog friendly.

We sheltered in the front room on a rainy afternoon. The staff were fabulous lighting the fire and putting on an extra heater for the children. We stayed longer than planned as we were so comfy. Food was superb, the turkey pie was the best I have ever tasted and the children loved the sausage rolls. Great place would definitely return.

We love coming here, the bar looks better and better every time we come. This time I had a sneaky snack which was a lovely home made Steak and Ale pie, peas, gravy and chips - tasty wholesome food, probably one of the best pies I’ve eaten.

We had an afternoon sat by the fire sampling the drinks on offer. The service and atmosphere was excellent and not too busy, I expect it’s different in the summer. We didn’t eat. Dogs were welcome.

Started to visit in June 2017 - now we are practically part of the furniture. Best ale in torbay- served straight out the cask on the bar. Pies are yummy, bar staff are funny, pooch friendly. If your an ale drinker, then defo worth a visit. We've taken several friends there,that have since taken several of there friends there. No need for adverts with this gem in brixham, word of mouth sais it all. Well done to Roly,leslie and the crew who work there. X

Have not been there since our dog (Canute) died more than a month Ago.

Small bar with larger dining area to rear. Friendly cosy bar and barman especially friendly and welcoming. Pies ordered were delicious. Only downside was food took a tad longer to come than I would expect but not delayed to the point we were annoyed. Having said that they were really nicely cooked so worth the wait.

I can only say, come here if you visit Brixham. If you’re looking for a dog friendly, also welcoming to humans place to have a tipple, come here!

Legend fast turning into my fav pub in Brixham. Lovely ambience great food excellent ale Roly cant be faulted.

This establishment is currently undergoing a lot of refurbishment which is why I say it will have a great potential. They serve ales directly from the cask which you do not see too often these days. The ciders and ales are local and very good.

Came across this pub whilst staying in Brixham. At first glance it looked closed but on further investigation, and after seeing some menus displayed outside, we found the entrance down the side through the arch. The pub/inn is undergoing extensive renovation and we found ourselves in a back bar alongside an entertainment space. Given an extremely warm welcome by the knowledgable barman and was pleased to see that they serve real ale direct from the cask. Only a choice of two but it was a lunchtime early in the week and I assume that there are a couple more on at weekends. The menu looked very interesting with an assortment of pies so we returned the following evening for a meal. My wife and I both had the Norfolk Pie and without doubt it was the best pie I have ever tasted. The meal we had was so good that we returned the following night to try the steak and ale pie. We were hoping to return again before we left Brixham but disappointingly were unable to make it. Definitely the place to visit and eat in Brixham and we wish the enterprising owner all the very best in getting the pub/inn completely refurbished.

A quirky place with lots of character, this includes the Landlord! Recently extensively refurbished to a high standard. They DON'T have letting rooms currently. A good selection of real ales straight from the barrel plus lagers and ciders. A small menu offering meals based around their own home made pies which seems popular and good value. Well worth a visit.

A lovely warm welcome and knowledgable staff. Great ales from the cask and a good selection of cask and draught ciders. The food? The pies and sausage rolls are a must. Beautifully tasty and most definitely home made with incredible pastry. All this at great value prices.

Came to Brixham on boat trip from Exmouth. Wanted somewhere for refreshment but we were put off by all the noisy pavement cafes and restaurants along the front. So glad we found this place. Tastefully renovated delicious meat pies and gravy and draught cider. Understand it's only been open for a few weeks but wish it well. Deserves to be a success.

The food at the Coaching House is amazing when it says pie it means HANDMADE HOMEMADE pie not something defrosted and microwaved. Its not just the pies that are great all food is fabulous and the staff will do backflips to keep you happy !Great atmosphere and team work. Ask ben to make you his special Hot Chocolate !!!!!!!!. Love this place everyone works hard and cares

This newly refurbished pub is a real find. The food Is really good, we all chose their special pies, with veg and roast potatoes. Really nice. Would definitely recommend

Having never been to Brixham, we were delighted to find this gem of an establishment on the high street.

Run by Rollie and his partner ( who is responsible for the great food) it is a must visit in Brixham's main high street.

Brilliant food, the homity pie and soup were stunning. Can't wait to see you again. The pastry is to die for.

We were going to go and have a meal in wetherspoons but it was so crowded we decided to walk into town and see what else would take our fancy. Didn’t walk far, looked at the menus outside and went straight in.

Me and partner always try and come here when we come to see her dad who lives in Brixham. Although the Inn is being renovated, it's still a very nice place to come.

Dad and I stayed here whilst walking the coast path. The food was lovely. Tasty homemade food, good portion size and perfectly cooked fresh vegetables. The pastry in my homity pie melted in the mouth

Recently arrived in Brixham on a 3day break.Very pleased to find this place ,comfortable lounge with comfortable seating and good decor.My wife and I had already eaten and I am always pleased to find an hostelry providing real ale from the wood.I was not disappointed and enjoyed more than I should have , as I then had to ascend the faith hope and ' glory 'steps to our appartment overlooking Brixham.Fully recommend this welcoming inn.

Just popped in late one afternoon.Had a very good cream tea,huge choice of scones and jams,don't think I have ever had such a massive choice for a meer cream tea.Was also a quite a few teas to pick from.They also seemed to manage just the right amount of cream (not skimping on it most important)

Called in here to see what the place was like. Very impressed indeed. Nice bar, friendly staff, good to see real ale direct from the cask. Lovely and clean. Nice to see visitors eating here. Will definitely call in when in town.

Wow, what a lovely pub. The staff were friendly and we were encouraged come in to have a look round as we were passing. There was no pressure to eat or stay but at least look at how the renovations have turned out. A look around and we were persuaded to stay and we were not disappointed. We had ham and chicken pie all round with chips, mash and vegetables. The end result was four clear plates and a very happy family ( 2 adults and 2 children 11/8). Dogs and children very welcome. I can only imagine what the pudding were like if the pastry on the pie was this good but unfortunately we were all too full. Hopefully next time. So if you are looking for a relaxed friendly atmosphere with good food in Brixham, this is the place for you.

Popped into the old coach house on the off chance on a night out.

Found this by accident and had drinks in Roly's make shift bar in the old stable block. Great real ales (apparently) and lovely atmosphere. Now closed to complete the refurb, hope it is still there next year. Lovely fire in front snug. Great scones.

Tried out the restaurant tonight with family and the restaurant was empty when we arrived at 7pm, however it was lovely inside with the fire on too. I ordered the Norfolk pie which I would definitely recommend. The food and drinks were great value for money and I would really recommend this place to others. Definitely would come back! The restaurant was pretty much empty except for another group who joined us at the back. More people need to give this place a shot though!

First visit to rhis pub but the girl at the door welcomed.us in with the choice of a blazing fire.Glad we went it has a lovely friendly feel about it.We were brought our drinks whilst sitting by the fire and awaited our lunch which was worth the wait it was freshly cooked with fresh not frozen veg.There was only one other table taken which is such a shame as people dont know what they are missing.Prices are good and not extortionate as in some places.So give it a try so glad we did we will be back.
