The best restaurants in Tewkesbury South West

This is an excellent Indian restaurant. The food is superb and the staff very friendly and attentive. The bi-weekly buffet represents excellent value for money; I have only missed one since February!

Wow, what a find. Atmospheric restoration, comfortable and cosy, proper fire. The beers, Woobly Bob, Jaipur, Sarah Hughes DR, Tewkes Fifty on gravity. This is one serious ale house. The landlord even has the decency to keep the folk singers locked up in a private room at the back. Maybe there's a restored barn behind where he keeps the morris dancers happily doing their own thing without troubling the general public. 🤣

Having researched this curry house quite extensively as this was my birthday meal , I'm afraid the meal didn't live up to the hype, we had the dips and popodoms for starters, the dips were watery and tasteless, I was starting to get a bit worried then , if you can't get basic dips right it doesn't bode well ! I had a lamb Madras , again pretty tasteless I think the chef forgot to put the salt in ! My wife had chicken shashlack , again dry and tasteless, even my rice and peshwari naan were pretty un inspiring, maybe the chef just had a bad night, I really don't like putting on negative posts , I obviously want things to be good, the staff were very friendly, but it's a package and the food has to be the main, the star o f the show , very disappointed!!

Accused of Not Booking as they were full. We rang at 12.45pm and asked to book a table for 8 for 2pm and told the lady who took the booking we would ring again if there was any change. We arrived at 1.55pm, walked into the restaurant for the lady to walk towards us shaking her head. My husband said we have a booking at 2pm for 8people and she just said No you Don’t, he said I do as I spoke to you on the phone a short while ago and she repeated no you don’t! Not impressed at all. No apology, no offer of we can accommodate you in x amount of time!

Lovely family restaurant with an excellent menu choice. Friendly staff and well presented tasty food. We will return .

Arrived just before they stopped serving lunchtime food. But the lady was very accommodating and served us. I go fairy frequently and love the Sunday roasts. It is also has a great play area for kids (during summer) and lots of animals. All in all, it's a great place to visit.

Well they have certainly made a Fantastic job of the black bear. It feels it’s a lot different it has a lot more atmosphere and some really beautiful areas. During the summer, I can see this is going to get really really busy. Do not judge the smoky grill on the prices, you soon change your mind when you have something. We had the cheeseburger with fries and trust me it was beautiful so give it a try as this place will not disappoint .

Best Indian food I've eaten, everything was gluten-free, and the flavours were fabulous. The staff were great too, we had a lovely experience here.

As always top quality food from Tipo and Magda. Had the onion bajee for the first time. Hot, crispy and very tasty. See you again next week Garry and Fiona.

Made a reservation for Friday night online, quick reply, turned up to find it quite only a few tables occupied, the staff were very helpful and friendly, the atmosphere was lovely. Food was delicious 😋 so we ended up booking for Christmas Day, would highly recommend, it's unlicensed so you can take your own 🍺 🍾

I normally order my Indian food from the Calcutta but this has now closed so I thought I would give the churchdown tandoori a try…… well I was pleasantly surprised as the food from here tasted great, delivered on time and still hot, with reasonable prices for an Indian restaurant. This is now going to be my new choice for Indian food and I can recommend it for others to try !

IAM truck driver just got my tea from roosters absolutely gorgeous can't fault it one bit i haven't been there for years but hasn't changed a bit 👍👍👍

Went for an evening takeaway at the lovely Swallow Inn, all the staff were fantastic, genuinely very helpful and most of all very friendly. The food was fantastic you can tell the cooks you don't see work hard and take care about the food they make. Was lovely and couldn't fault at all. With an amazing selection on offer I cannot recommend enough! I am not a local but next time I am passing through I'll be sure to come again. Such a lovely team who make you feel right at home.

Seams like a nice enough place. Clean and tidy, staff are nice enough and helpful. Nice chairs to relax in and chill to some sports and a large(ish) function room. Worth a trip if you're near by
