The Cross House Tavern in Tewkesbury

A lovely micro pub in the heart of town. Excellent range of drinks, and a friendly host, in a cosy environment. Even got advice about where to go walking.

Often thought about trying this beautiful quirky pub, but it has always been full. Last night as we passed 3 men came out, so we went in and were glad we did. Good choice of draught beers and ciders, comfortable and warm and everybody seemed friendly. Just how pubs used to be!

Straight from the cask, great selection of beers, a must visit.

A truly stunning venue with a fantastic selection of ales and an incredibly welcoming landlord. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it a must-visit spot. Highly recommended—Tewkesbury’s finest!

Such a great pub. Good selection of ales with pickled eggs in crisps on offer what a treat.

Wow, what a find. Atmospheric restoration, comfortable and cosy, proper fire. The beers, Woobly Bob, Jaipur, Sarah Hughes DR, Tewkes Fifty on gravity. This is one serious ale house. The landlord even has the decency to keep the folk singers locked up in a private room at the back. Maybe there's a restored barn behind where he keeps the morris dancers happily doing their own thing without troubling the general public. 🤣

Can't comment on the food as we didn't eat, too busy checking out the selection of real ales! Proper pub with friendly locals, just don't ask for lager...

Nice Micropub with up to 10 real Ales and several traditional Cyders and Perrys cheese cobs and normal pickles plus crisps etc proper pub grub

Cracking little pub serving only real ale straight off the barrel and prices are very good. Reyt enjoyed my visit.

Very nice but basic food , however the person serving us seemed more concerned about booking her holiday to Turkey than serving us

Fantastic place. Bar maid Jenny was so fun and accommodating. Locals were just amazing with us tourists. Felt like friends when we left. Fantastic choice of local ales and ciders. Great prices. Would visit again and again. And locals have a cheese night on a Monday evening which was a great touch. We loved this place! Made our stay!

A great old-fashioned British pub, we need to treasure places like this. At least 6 ales, all poured direct from the barrel + Cider and Perry selection.

Great micropub. Quality real ales on gravity dispense. Didn't try the draft ciders and perries (not my thing). Great staff and friendly clientele One of the best pubs I have visited in a long time. Will be back when I get the chance. Highly recommended

Very friendly small ale house located in the picturesque heart of Tewkesbury. Space was made for visiting strangers. The ale was served straight from the barrel and was in good condition. Lovely atmosphere.

Good beers, ciders and perries that will appeal to any real ale fan. Atmospheric little pub. Limited table seating when the choir is practicing in the back room. Service not the most welcoming, but functional. Enjoyed our couple of pints here.

Nearly missed this place as we thought it was a Jeweller’s shop! Glad we didn’t as it’s a fantastic real ale pub in an historic building. Lots of little quirky areas to sit in.

If you like small down to basics pubs, look no further than The Cross House Tavern in tne heart of Tewkesbury, quality straight from the barrel beer & ciders in what can only be described as a real old school pub that has a feeling of a 1930 ealing film set. If you're hungry, there are ham or cheese cobs/rolls, no cooking smells to ruin the beer or atmosphere.

Went into this pub. TOTALLY UNDREWHEMED. The barman was totally uninterested and the beer undrinkable. I for one will never go back.

This is a Real Ale, cider and Perry micro pub. Very dog friendly. Food, rudimentary. Cheese rolls, ham rolls and pickles. Great!

A great find! Barrels of local ales, ciders and perries. Lovely character. Authentic, relaxed, welcoming in a fabulous medieval Tewkesbury building.

Very nice little pub. Sells draft beers only and no cans/bottles which makes for a nice change. Atmosphere was historic and very well done.

An absolute gem. We visited Tewkesbury for 2 nights and we're lucky enough to find the Cross House Tavern on the first evening. The welcome, service, ales and perry were all superb and we felt like locals going back on the second evening. Cheers

Beautiful old building with a great interior. A few decent ciders but the beer range is old fashioned traditional cask ales but I would like to see some modern new world happy beers which I would expect from a micropub

Quirky old pub with some fine ales

I love everything of this place. I go to have some pints minimum once a month and I live 30min drive from the pub. Even the wifii password is amazing 🤣

This is such a wonderful little pub. The ciders and perrys and beers all come from very local suppliers and the atmosphere is welcoming and friendly. The pub itself is cosy and historic. I love it

A proper gem of an alehouse in a Grade II listed building. You will not want to drink anywhere else in Tewkesbury.

Superb micropub, with a great selection of well-kept ales, ciders and perries that are served straight from the barrel. There is NO lager available, but this should be pretty obvious upon entry (the WiFi code suggests this!), but the barmaid was very helpful when one customer did ask about an alternative (much to the amusement of some). Full of character and friendly punters - this is the sort of place that every town should have and enjoy the custom of many.

Great micro pub with a variety of real ales and ciders, looks small from outside but there are 2 other rooms behind the front bar area. Beer in good condition and reasonably priced compared to other pubs in town, rolls available but this is a drinks venue not an eating one.

Top draw place. Most probably the best pub in Tewkesbury. Very enjoyable friendly atmosphere. Friendly locals and staff. Highly Recommended

It’s a lovely place & they have worked hard to restore the inside. It’s as shame the barman/manager was so rude.Lots of micro pubs sell ciders,real ales & lagers. When asked if they sell anything like a lager he replied ‘we don’t sell that rubbish in here’ quite dismissively. Another customer we spoke to said he said a similar thing when she asked about wether they sold wine. His answer was ‘red or white’ sarcastically. I really hate alcoholic drinks snobbery. So he doesn’t like lager or wine you’re made to feel like a lesser person for not being like him. His rudeness has put me & my partner off returning there.

Love this micro pub and the atmosphere along with a good choice of Ales and ciders.

Only called in for one drink, just loved the place, will definitely call in again when I next visit Tewkesbury.

This pub feels like it's been there for centuries yet it's only been open a couple of years, great selection of ales and the Landlord was very welcoming 👍🍻

This is an fantastic pub which the amazing historical Tudor period building adds real character to with it's multiple rooms and levels. Excellent range of quality local real ales & ciders and a great traditional pub feel. Friendly and knowledgeable hosts about not only the drinks but the building too. This is a real pub and highly recommended to visit.

Great old school pub, with a week curated selection of cask beer and cider. In a historical Tudor building which really adds to the experience of enjoying a pint here.
