The Abbot's Table in Tewkesbury

Accused of Not Booking as they were full. We rang at 12.45pm and asked to book a table for 8 for 2pm and told the lady who took the booking we would ring again if there was any change. We arrived at 1.55pm, walked into the restaurant for the lady to walk towards us shaking her head. My husband said we have a booking at 2pm for 8people and she just said No you Don’t, he said I do as I spoke to you on the phone a short while ago and she repeated no you don’t! Not impressed at all. No apology, no offer of we can accommodate you in x amount of time!

Greeted and seated, we had rib eye steak x 3 and the lamb. Four empty plates went back to kitchen 😊 Lovely place to wander to from the caravan site, will visit again if in the area. Think you need to book as all tables full.

What a fantastic place. We had the sirloin steak and belly pork. Both were delicious. Staff were lovely. Service was quick and atmosphere was relaxing. Best meal we have had in a long time. Would definitely come back.

We saved this restaurant for the last night of our holiday but that turned out to be a big mistake! This was the most expensive but worst meal of our trip. The food was mediocre at best, one steak had to be sent back as was overcooked, the Bearnaise sauce was curdled and inedible, the soup tasted like powder, the scallops were bland and chewy - probably frozen - and the specific dietary request was allocated to the wrong plate, twice. Canteen food at fine dining prices. To top off the dreadful dining experience, when we complained about it, the chef came out with arms folded and aggressively told us that he had never had a complaint before! He must not read his reviews on here. If you want a nice meal, go to the Indian next door or the Italian a couple of doors away - both half the price and twice as good!

We had the Tornado Rossini - fillet steak and foie gras and the cotes de beouf - 20oz rib eye on the bone. Tremendous. Cooked to perfection. My girlfriend had some strange looks from other diners when the beast landed. Thoroughly recommend. Staff extremely friendly.

Excellent restaurant, couldn't fault it 👌

We enjoyed a lovely 3 course meal on father’s day’s with our baby daughter. Service was great and food was really nice. Waitress was very accommodating. Nice looking, quaint restaurant in the town of Tewkesbury.

My wife and I had lovely meals. I had Fillet steak and the wife had ribeye. Both were cooked to our requirements and very tasty. Both had scallops and black pudding to start which were also very good.

Visited a couple of times whilst working in Tewkesbury. Great food and service. Recommend the Welsh Lamb and steaks.

We had such a lovely meal here. The staff were friendly and efficient and the food was delicious!

Very disappointed. Sirloin steak was expensive but hammered to 1cm thickness. May be the worst I have had , and I have had a lot over many years. Tasted good but just four times as small as it should have been. The resteraunt smelt musty and they were using oils amd insence to disguise it. All acceptable, but not for the price.

We had a great evening. The food and service very good. We both had steaks, which were very tasty and tender. Plus well priced, with 15% off. 😀 Three other couples were in the restaurant, who also kept us entertained and very much enjoyed meeting them, albeit briefly. Well worth a visit.

Visited Saturday 27/04/2024 around 6:30pm. The restaurant wasn’t too busy so we had a choice of tables. We were a group of 4 and this wasn’t our first visit, returning again after such great meals on previous visits. Tonight our group tried the special board rabbit dish (x2), chicken in mustard sauce, and belly pork. 3 of us had a glass of wine and 1 had a beer. As usual, greeted, seated and ordered promptly. Staff were lovely. Food arrived hot and tasted awesome as we expected after having visited before, consistently good food and service. Plates were cleared and we had cheesecake and lemon meringue pie for dessert. Once again, served promptly and the desserts were delicious too. The bill for 4 came to around £150 which we all agreed was well worth it for the standard of food and service and obviously we left a well deserved tip. This place is a little gem, not too extensive a menu but superb food and great service, worth the money in our opinion. We look forward to returning again soon. Do give it a try.

Had a wonderful birthday celebration for 18 family members. We preordered from a very varied set 3 course menu. We all arrived together to find a beautifully set table in a C shape so that we were all together. The service was excellent thanks to Kasha(?) and her team, we were all served together and the food was hot and delicious. The wine flowed freely and a great time was enjoyed by all. Many thanks to Emilia, Leszak, Kasha and all the other servers.

Locality good, very comfy and cosy dining room. The food was really gorgeous, and the service was very good. It was my birthday and they made a fuss of me by singing and bringing my dessert out with a candle in it.

Stopped for a roast today. The food was served very hot, it was nice but not delicious. The building itself it lovely, old beams & inglenook.

A lovely cosy little restaurant with an open fire. The menu is what I think of as quite traditional but everything was really well cooked and flavoursome. Service was friendly too. We will definitely go back.

By far, the best steak in town

This is a lovely independent restaurant with an eclectic menu and friendly service. The food was delicious, we chose rabbit stewwhich was much enjoyed and sea bass fillet, the sea bass came with a mushroom sauce and something balsamic, the fish was succulent and the flavours were delicious. Lovely light brownie to finish and good choice of wine to accompany. Hope to visit again soon..

Lovely place, highly recommended

Despite visiting on a busy Saturday night, service was slick, our food was perfectly prepared and well presented, and the wines we chose complimented the dishes really well. Luckily, we went straight to the main course, so there was still room for desert, as portions are good. We'll certainly return if we're in the area as the experience was so good.

Yet another superb meal here tonight,the sea bass was beautifully cooked and the veg were spot on, my favourite fillet steak with Stilton and pistachio sauce was sublime perfectly cooked , rare. Been coming here for seven plus years and never had any complaints. Very highly recommended.

Had a great steak meal, lovely welcoming service and dog friendly. Gorgeous, cozy restaurant inside. I had the Sirloin steak with lots of chunky chips, 2 onion rings, mushrooms, tomatoes, salad and Bernaise sauce. The steak was cooked medium for me and it was so tasty, well seasoned and melted in the mouth, and the mushrooms were the tastiest I’d ever had. Would definitely return!

Excellent meal, tasty lamb and rib eye steak and yummy lemon meringue pie. Steak originally came out well done. We had asked for medium rare, so they refired it and it was perfect. Nice atmosphere and polite staff.

Simple review- Decor, think 1990’s cafe, noticed building smells of dampness. Staff- friendly helpful. Food- beef roast. Expensive and poor quality. Not a home made Yorkshire pudding as promised on the menu at all!!! Roast potatoes had to be frozen ones. Not real gravy either!!! Microwaved vegetables and fatty meat. Just a pale imitation of an English Sunday roast!! Conclusion- it’s not as promising as the menu suggests , please don’t tell half truths about the food. Glad I’ve tried this establishment as now I never have to eat here again!!

My husband and I visited this restaurant while staying nearby for a short break. We had a relaxing and extremely enjoyable meal, beautifully cooked and presented and then served by our very attentive and friendly waitress Kasha. The whole experience was excellent and I totally recommend this restaurant to all!

We visited The Abbot’s Table twice on our holiday in Tewksbury. The first time was a great experience. I enjoyed a T-bone steak with peppercorn sauce and my wife tucked into a smaller 8 oz steak, both with delicious vegetables. The service was great and the food was served quickly. It’s a little on the expensive side of dining but a nice experience. We liked the restaurant so much that we returned a couple of days later for Sunday lunch. This was not as good, as far as the food was concerned with there being Sunday lunch offer on, which seemed mean the standard of food was still nice but notched down to manufactured Yorkshire puddings and watery gravy on my wife’s serving and supermarket breaded scampi and chips on mine. I have no problem with this - especially as my partner’s serving of sliced lamb was excellent, it was just a little bit of a letdown after the superb dinner the previous time. It was still an enjoyable meal all the same. Recommended.

Fantastic cozy restaurant. Great food, friendly attentive staff.

Cosy and light surroundings, a varied menu with daily specials, brisk and cheerful service, delicious freshly cooked and piping hot food. We enjoyed our generous portion of duck pâté, and olives with bread and oils, although it was a pity for my husband to fill up too much with bread before our delicious rabbit with perfectly cooked vegetables. I would in fact have been happy with half the quantity of rabbit, I couldn’t eat all the potatoes, and had no room left for what looked like a super selection of desserts! A pity, I think. Only visiting Tewkesbury so we can’t go back, sadly, but we certainly recommend it.

Delicious hot Gluten Free roast lunch, tender meat, crisp roast potatoes, broccoli, parsnips carrots, plentiful gravy and GF yorkshire, attentive staff.

Would highly recommend this restaurant, service was outstanding waitress was very polite, welcoming, attentive. We had the spinach and ricotta tortellini tasted fresh, tasteful and well presented. Relaxing atmosphere for a small l restaurant.

We went to celebrate my sister's 40th birthday and couldn't fault this place. Kasha our waitress was polite, friendly and attentive. The food was absolutely amazing. We all had steaks and throughly enjoyed every bite. Reasonably priced and what a gem in Tewkesbury. Would definitely visit again.

Excellent Sunday lunch. Definitely recommend

Made reservation over the phone and got a call back to confirm for the Tuesday we had requested so all ok. The meal was more than ok it was excellent. Starters of pate for one of us and fried Brie for the other. Mains of fillet for both of us were fine to perfection, succulent and just as ordered. A good evening, cheerful efficient service and like Arnie we will be back.

We had nearly given up trying to find a really good dog-friendly restaurant in Tewkesbury, but rang and booked successfully. This restaurant should be going for a Michelin star-super mains of Rabbit with jus ,gorgeous red cabbage, crisp seasonal veg,and my husband had duck slices, dauphinois potatoes. Starters-duck pate,delicious, my husband had scallops,also delicious. Dessert-I had creme brulee and my husband had cheesecake. All this food was beautifully presented and promptly served.

Booked this restaurant for a birthday dinner with my husband during a short first-time visit to Tewkesbury. Cannot comment highly enough on our existence. Delightful service with knowledge, helpfulness and a smile. Foid was outstanding - especially my fillet steak with port sauce. Every mouthful divine. Contented noises from opposite side of the table over the Sea Bass too! Don't hesitate to book here: I don't see how you could go wrong. Thoroughly recommend and I take this opportunity to offer our sincere thanks.

Food was at best "average" but vastly overpriced. We expected a great steak at over £32 but we received standard supermarket vacuum packed fare it seemed. Prawn starter was meager and from frozen. At £50 a head incl wine, it was a disappointing experience. Would not reccomend.

Love this restaurant. 3rd time here and as previously our food was amazing. 4 different mains each one cooked beautifully. Cheeseboard was superb. We had duck, lamb,salmon and belly pork. Stunning food, wonderful service and had a good chat with the chef afterwards. Anyone visiting Tewksbury should definately try this wonderful little restaurant. Will definately be going back. Fantastic Sunday Lunch with my youngest Daughter and my Parents

Was attending the Cheltenham Races Festival and was staying in Tewkesbury.Went to this restaurant last year and couldn't wait to go back this year.I wasn't disappointed at all.The food is top quality,cooked to perfection by a very talented chef.This to me is real food,Steak,fish,Veg,Potatoes.There are a variety of starters,Soup,Prawns,Scallops etc again all presented and prepared to the highest quality.Of the 4 nights I stayed,I visited this restaurant 3 times,got the Steak twice and the chicken breast on the other occasion.Each night my desert was profiteroles,divine.And finally,the staff are the most friendly people you can meet,very warm and excellent at their job.They tend to you straight away and cannot do enough for you.The service is exceptional.It is also reasonably priced,can't wait to go back next year.

Very accommodating regarding a choice of where we would like to be seated. A very homely / quirky decor which gave a wonderful ambience. Wow! outstanding, my partner & I both had the garlic tiger prawns to start exceptional flavours. 1 seabass & 1 belly pork meal served with an assortment of vegetables which were all cooked perfectly & flavoursome.

We really enjoyed this meal. It was good, honest, uncomplicated cooking with delicious flavours and friendly service in a cosy and warm environment in this intimate and historic setting. We stayed almost next door at the Hop Pole and it was less than a minute's walk. The warm fire was very welcoming and appreciated on a cold dank night. Thank you for a lovely evening and a delicious meal.

Sunday Roast was excellent. Service was friendly & professional. Top tip - get there early so you don’t have to sit by the front door or the ‘washroom’ door. A lovely experience all round.

If you haven’t been here then you must! Friendly staff, lovely atmosphere and absolutely divine food. This is one not to be missed!

This is a lovely independently run restaurant in a great location in Tewkesbury. Went for a Christmas meal and the food was brilliant, the presentation was magnificent and was served quickly too. The staff are friendly and are open to providing the best service possible. The items they offer on the menu are broad so plenty to choose from, and prices are fair too! The restaurant is located in a Tudor building so the atmosphere is very traditional and comforting. I would recommend going to the abbot's table!

We had a lovely meal as part of one of our festive Gettogethers. Everyone loved their turkey dinner and the crème brûlée went down a treat. Friendly helpful staff.

Wish I could write a review of the food, but when called to make a reservation I was asked for how many and since it was just myself I was told for me restaurant is closed and reservation refused... I would have to be a part of a bigger group. I have to say - this was the first :D and got me boggled...
