This place was a nice local but as of July 2021 the pub has been closed down. I believe new owners will be refurbishing the pub in preparation for reopening later on in 2021, hopefully.
Service provider very rude unwashed hands and no PPEs felt as though I was unwelcome and treated very poorly. Very unhygienic when I visited, food was also Crap won't be giving them my custom again.
Ordered a delivery to my place of work, 1.25 hour later - no food. Shop was very rude, called me a liar. Turns out they delivered to a completely different place, suddenly changed their tune when the driver admitted fault. I should of known better as the last delivery was cold and incomplete. There are other companies out there and i would definitely never use this establishment again, i think they must of changed owners because they used to be really good. AVOID DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!
Server couldn't have been nicer, but the food we all received came out cold and overcooked (hard pizza, dry/tough meat, etc). Bit of a shame, and some people went for takeout afterwards, but we had a nice evening regardless.
Fantastic Sunday lunch. We booked this for lunch with friends. It was really good.
Great staff and food was excellent.i had the roast beef and it was one of the best. Toast potatoes were perfect and the beef thinly cut and rare.
Staff were attentive and the pub had a nice atmosphere.
Both main dishes were bright red in colour which wasn't what a Dansak dish and Methi dish meant to be also didnt taste at all like irs meant to. Very disappointed.
Worst Beefeater I've been too. To be fair they're not gourmet but this one is terrible. You can sense the staff aren't treated great considering how hard they work and obviously under staffed. There isn't really any other option if you're staying at the very tired premier inn. One thing. A BIG well done to the lady staff member for breakfast Saturday morning 26th April. I bet though she isn't appreciated but the company.
Went for a friends birthday meal, expected the worst as last time I was here was years ago back when I was little I’m now 21.
I can gladly say it was really good!
I ordered a cheeseburger with chips and every bit of the burger was delicious and the chips were spot on, ate the lot.
Then for pudding I had brownie with ice cream and this was sickly but so good, didn’t manage to eat all of it due to how rich it was but still good.
Overall I’d give this restaurant a 8.5/10
Came for lunch my brother chose off of the specials menu cod loin I had set menu
Both dishes were great In fact my brother said his dish was banging ( he has been a chef in the past )
Mine was great . Staff could not do enough for us
I saw they have live entertainment and regular things going on what a great pub
Firstly let me add I am Vegan, and luckily in this day and age, it is very rare to have a problem getting something decent when eating out no matter the restaurant. However, there were barely any vegan options at all! I had a plate of Pak Choi (so overcooked and dripping in what looked like slug juice) and broccoli with a few luke-warm chips. The only vegan pudding was some fruit. All that for £20.99. Genuinely the worst meal of my life! As for the staff, the main guy that dealt with our table was so rude he clearly didn't want to be there. When they wanted us to leave they literally told us to leave (we'd been there 1h 40mins - not sure what the limit is) and I swear they put the cold air-con on as it suddenly became freezing cold.
For balance, there were 6 of us at the table and I was the only vegan. Everyone else said their food was 'ok'. But personally, this was honestly the worst eating out experience I have ever had in my life.
As for cleanliness, my table was sticky and when I went for a wee, my legs were slowly spreading apart on the greasy floor.
I recommended the Tawny Owl as the place to gather for our large family reunion as I have had good food there before. Because of our numbers we were asked to choose our dinner in advance. Each of us complied, and expected to get our choices when we arrived. The menu selection was made well in advance, but one member of the party, who had ordered scampi, was told that it had run out. He had to accept an alternative. This is not acceptable as ordering in advance should guarantee the availability of the item. In addition, the peas served with fish and chips were dried up and cold. Service was poor and slow. Drinks had to be ordered by the guests at the bar. Altogether a very disappointing evening, and I will not recommend dinner at this venue to anyone.
