Went with a work group, had a lovely 3 course meal. Somosas, red pepper and feta lasagne and a biscoff cheese cake all we're fantastic would recommend.

The Cross Keys are amazing, the staff could not be more helpful and attentive and the food was delicious tasty and cooked to perfection. We had a farewell meal for my brother and everything was spot on. They even went out of their way to make me a dessert not on the menu. As everything was perfect on that day we decided to go there for lunch a few weeks later. Yet again they were so helpful as because of my allergies they cooked me steak that was not on the menu. If you are looking for helpful staff and fantastic food you cannot better the Cross Keys. If you like lamb go for there duo of lamb it amazing, worth a visit just for that.

Called in after car show ordered, small coke medium glass of wine and bag of bacon fries. As a mistake was charged over £22,when questioned this was reduced to just over £11.

By far the Best pub in the area !!! Since the refurb this place is absolutely amazing and so specious !!! I would recommend it to anyone.

Good service and the meal was delicious. I had the chicken pie special and hubby had bacon chops, both washed down with a couple of pints of Horizon. I would recommend this pub/restaurant.

If you want to eat together and what you took the time to pre booked, have an accurate bill and not over inflated that reflects the price on stated the menu and eat a two course meal in less than 2.5 hours then this pub definitely isn’t for you.

Had a lovely lunch here. Food was great. Service however was extremely slow. We were a party of 18 people and had pre-ordered. Very disappointing when where mains and desserts were pre-ordered, we were told that 3 desserts had run out. Pub also struggled to split the bill for us. With a few tweaks and better organisation, this pub has huge potential but sadly not quite there yet. If this improves then my review would have more stars.

This is a lovely place to eat with good size portions. The staff are so attentive they are a great credit to the place. I did have an issue with my meal but the way it was dealt with was amazing and quick. Very professional. Everything else was spot on and we would definitely go back. One of the best Sunday lunches in the area. Highly recommend and we look forward to returning

Fantastic Sunday roast on Easter Sunday, we all had the lamb, it was fabulous, such a rare thing to see on a menu we just couldn’t pass it up, service was exceptional, the pub had been closed for a few years but it’s back and better that ever.

We arrived 15 minutes early for our meal.First impressions really good. Ordered drinks and were shown to table. Order was taken for one sharing starter and our mains. Starter arrived within a reasonable timeframe. But thereafter the service was poor.It was an hour after ordering and still no mains.Eventually a waitress asked have you had your mains, to which we replied no.They went to check and we were advised the order had not gone through as the internet had gone down? She also said we can put it through and it will be ready in 5 minutes, as we had ordered trio of lamb we knew that it wouldn’t be ready in 5 minutes and would be rushed.After waiting so long, we weren’t convinced the food would be good,due to it being rushed,so decided to leave.Upon paying for our drinks and starter,no real apology was given or offer to compensate for poor service.I asked to speak to the manager,the assistant went to the kitchen to then be told they were busy cooking and couldn’t come to see me. Never had to leave a review like this before, also the table next to us,had to ask for a missing drink and also prompt for their order to be taken.

A warm welcome. We shared 3 starters between 4 of us and all enjoyed them. Squid, halloumi and spring rolls. We were offered various dips as options which was great for family sharing. We then enjoyed two different burgers, tikka masala and the lamb special. All were fabulous and we enjoyed it a lot. Service was very good without being intrusive. We will be back soon and recommend to others.

I have visited The Cross Keys many times in the past and so was really happy that it was open again, but sadly do not where to start with our experience last night. Service was slow, staff didn’t seem to have a clue what was going on. When I asked about the Specials Board I was told that the specials were sold out, despite the board being almost the first thing we saw when we entered the pub. We were then told there was no lasagne but when we ordered it turned out there were no pies either or soprano burgers. I ordered a chicken burger - on a normal burger bun and not a brioche as advertised- and the food quite frankly looked like it had been dropped onto the plate from a great height. The staff got our drinks confused and then when we asked for the dessert menu, took so long coming back to us that we just got up, paid the bill and left. I’ve read other reviews on here and noted Management comments and I would just like to say that there wasn’t any sign of management on a Saturday night and the floor appeared to be being run by very nice, but slightly disinterested teenagers. I have been in hospitality for over 20 years (maybe this makes me slightly more critical) and actually did a management stint at The Cross Keys a long time ago so would just like to say to the (new) owners that some staff training would be a great idea and clean glasses would be even better! It was very disappointing all round.

Dinner for 2 on a Friday. Not greeted despite there being 6 teenagers behind the bar and us having booked a table. “Sit where you like”. Guinness turned up in 30 seconds (that’s not a good thing) and starters took over an hour to arrive. Staff are far too inexperienced and unfriendly and the food was meh. Greasy wings and microwaved bao buns. Didn’t end up going ahead with mains as our order somehow got lost. Hope the new owners read this. There are 5 pubs in Wanborough, that doesn’t mean you can do half a job in running one. Right now there are 4 better.

Extremely slow service. Sat for 2 hours over one course. Lots of food on menu not available on the night and substitutions on meals but not informed. Lots of young staff but they spent a lot of their time behind the bar looking at their phones! Food quality was ok

Saddens me to leave such a low star review, but doing it in the hope changes are made as this is such a great place. Decor is good and clean. The food was really excellent - lots of choice, was served hot, very tasty and reasonably priced. The service really did let it down though. It was so slow. And it wasn’t busy! We were one of three tables in the restaurant and one in the bar. The other separate tables in the restaurant had already eaten their main meals when we arrived. We were a family of 5, told we could sit where we liked. The only table big enough wasn’t set (no cutlery, no napkins, no placemats). Which is fine, but it didn’t actually get set properly the whole time we were there. (Eventually cutlery for the 5 of us was bought over…..in three separate trips!) We had already got first drinks at the bar when we came in. Asked if we should order food at the bar, they said they’d serve us at table. Sat for a while, then menus came over. Sat for ages (at least 20mins) until we caught the eye of the waitress serving another table their dessert. She asked if we were ready to order. Said yes. She disappeared saying she’d be back. She wasn’t. We decided to go to bar to order, but saw her on the way. She said she’d come over again. Our table was booked for 2.15pm and it was approximately 2.45pm when the order was eventually taken. We also ordered more drinks. We had to chase these up at the bar after about 10mins when we saw another table had to do that….not actually sure the waitress had told the barman we’d ordered more drinks? As they then came immediately. These may sound like small things, but they all add up. We were there nearly two hours for a quick, one course family lunch! Food was really good though, so really hope they sort out front of house!

Went for breakfast today, absolutely brilliant. We only had a small breakfast, but there was so much on the plate, we all struggled to get through it. Staff friendly. Have already booked to return.

Great Sunday Lunch. Superb, melt in the mouth meat.... 5 veg. Rosemary 'proper' roast potatoes Cauliflower cheese (extra £3). So full afterward that we had to have only 1 pudding and two spoons !. Will certainly be returning. 5*

We literally stumbled upon this little gem when we were looking for somewhere to park for the night in our campervan on a really long journey from Portsmouth. We called ahead and the landlady assured us it was fine to park and stay, and on arrival we were made to feel welcome. The food was freshly prepared, delicious and of a high standard. There was also a great selection of drinks too. Special shout out to the barman and the chef….amazing pie recommendation!

Found this little pub on a drive out in the sun, beer garden was nice and clean, staff were really friendly and the food was lovely, definitely would visit again.

One staff member serving the bar and restaurant, stood at the bar for 10 mins without any effort to serve us, Very uninviting, we walked out and went to the Brewers Arms just around the corner where we were made to feel welcome

Visited to sample the Sunday roast, and this is the best I have ever had. Pork was amazing, and the meal was plentiful. The pub is in a lovely setting just off the main high street in Wanborough. Staff took extremely good care of us. The kids throughly enjoyed their meals and dessert. Overall brilliant, and we definitely will be visiting again.

We hired the conservatory at the Cross Keys for a naming ceremony for our babies and the staff could not have been more attentive. The location is beautiful and the room was perfect for what we wanted - Karianne allowed us to go in the night before to set up/ decorate exactly how we liked, and as the room opened up onto the patio/ garden we were then able to use this as it was such a lovely day. They also provided the catering (we opted for a pizza buffet from the wood fired pizza oven) which was amazing, and much more reasonably priced compared to a lot of the quotes we’d received from other venues. I’d even forgotten that we had a vegan coming, but Karianne was more than accommodating and provided her with an additional meal free of charge! Thank you to the Cross Keys & all of the staff for enabling us to hold the perfect event here!

We had a burger, fish and chips and a lasagne. The food was delectable. Absolutely stunning. Can’t wait to revisit, will be here on the weekend. Thanks to Karrianne and Nathan for a wonderful local pub and lovely atmosphere.

Get your self down to the cross keys! Food is absolutely fantastic! And the staff make you feel like family! We love it so much we even booked for a surprise birthday party. What a fantastic time we had today, the service was 100% waiting staff we could not fault. The food was 5* everything home made and the Vegan meals were the best our members have had. All food came out on time and was hot any changes that was requested was No problem, We would recommend this establishment to anyone.

Had a booking for 6.30pm we were early and shown to our table at 6.15pm our evening was going lovely then at 7.30 we just ordered our sweet and was told the table was required for 7.50, not having been made aware of a time limit at the time of booking this put a damper on our evening, it then turned around and the table was not required.We stayed for a few more drinks but won't rush to return,This was our Xmas visit to our daughter and son in law will look elsewhere on our next visit to Swindon

Myself & four friends visited the Cross Keys today & had the Christmas lunch. Unfortunately we were ALL very disappointed. We all had roast turkey, it came with one small slice of parsnip, one small slice of carrot, five sprouts and three 'roast' potatoes. The potatoes were not roasted properly, mine were insipid to look at and cold in the middle. The sprouts had not had the outer leaves taken off and were inedible. The gravey was thin & tasted as though it was made from a mix, & not a good quality one at that! My pudding was Christmas pub with custard. I have never seen a Christmas pud this small before. The waitress offered us all a second pud having overheard our comments, we all declined. Having said this the pud & custard was nice. We followed our lunch with coffees. We highlighted to the waitress our disappointment when she cleared our main course plates and she was aware of our thoughts with regards to the size of the puddings. As a gesture of goodwill one would have thought that the coffees would have been one the house but this was not the case. Other than an apology from the waitress no one else was bothered about our disappointment. I for one will not be back & I feel very sorry for anyone who has booked for their Christmas Day lunch there. The two stars are for the waitress.

Thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas menu today. Parsnip soup fantastic, monkfish and accompaniments very tasty (if rather too garlicky) and bread and butter pudding very light. Thank you for excellent food and very attentive service.

After a morning of shopping we stopped at the Cross Keys for lunch. We decided to start with chicken liver parfait and salmon and prawn fishcakes, followed by spinach and ricotta ravioli and shin of beef with a house salad.

Went for a return visit tonight as a family of 8 (first visit a few weeks ago wasn’t a great success). Kirstie, the manager, was very apologetic and explained that on our previous visit they had severe staffing issues due to sickness. Tonight was a different story. All of the staff were very friendly and attentive and could not do enough for us. The food was served promptly and was delicious and plentiful. Gorgeous steak and ale pie! We had desserts too which were all lovely. We had a fantastic meal in a very warm and welcoming atmosphere with lots of attention to detail and delicious, hot and tasty food. Thank you Kirstie and your team - we will definitely be returning and highly recommend The Cross Keys. Looking forward to trying more dishes from the great selection on the menu.

A lovely pub with tables well spaced out to enable private conversations. However, by 8pm on a Saturday evening various choices from the Mains menu weren’t available as they had run out. One table got so frustrated having to choose again and again that they walked out in disgust. The food we had tasted fine but the experience has put us off a return visit. On a positive note the restaurant staff were very friendly.

Having not visited for many a year we were pleasantly surprised by what we found. Lovely interior layout with plenty of space. Kirsty was very welcoming. It's a Wadworth's pub so a very good 6X on draught, good wine list, wide menu of mains, sides and sandwiches We will be back

I organised a reunion Sunday lunch for my former RAF unit, a total of 15 couples. Our hostess Kirsty prepared me an 9 choice menu from which to pre-order. There were 4 traditional roasts, curry, fish pie, chicken supreme, slow cooked shin of beef and a vegetarian biriani. We tested her and the team by choosing nearly all of the options. The food was served to all within a few minutes at the appointed hour by cheerful and attentive staff headed by Emily. Favourable comments from my group included 'the best pub food I've had for years' and 'excellent service'. Thanks Cross Keys for making my role easy!

Enjoyed a late lunch with a few friends. Service was cheerful and prompt. I enjoyed The Shin off beef that proved to be plentiful, tasty and well presented. My wife had Chicken that she said was a bit dry. However, she was unaware that a space was available that may have rectified that issue.

We visited the Cross Keys as a family today to celebrate my husband's birthday. Food was excellent and plentiful, staff were polite and friendly and brought both food and drinks very promptly Overall a very good meal and very pleasant evening

Friendly but slightly chaotic, it was a Sunday evening so it was understandable if some items on the menu had run out. Fortunately they still had some roast potatoes & plenty of thick beef gravy for the belly pork! Having looked through Trip Advisor it looks as though the reports vary considerably. You could be lucky when you visit.

Went in here for a nice dinner with my partner, saw that they had a Caesar salad on the menu for £10.50 with the option of adding bacon and chicken for an extra £3, which we decided to do. When it arrived it was just a plate of lettuce with hardly any chicken or bacon. It also said it came with cheese, there was no cheese in it whatsoever. When we complained the lady stated that the cheese is an ingredient inside the dressing. We paid £27 for 2 meals that weren’t even worth a fiver...you can get a better salad at McDonald’s! We often come here with the children as there is a big open space for them out the back, I can honestly say that I would never eat here again and the staff need a bit more training in customer service. Really wish I taken a picture so people could see just how bad it was.

Came for mid week lunch with friends on their recommendation and wasn’t disappointed. Was very quiet with a handful of other guests in a large room opening onto the garden. Staff pleasant and drinks provided immediately. I drank a pint of Wadworth Horizon which a little too floral for my taste so moved on to 6X.

As a part of the Wadworth brewery is one of the worst.

We booked before hand, arrived on time and were seated straight away. Four adults and three children, one adult being vegan.

We waited for this restaurant to open at midday having arrived at 11.30. Unfortunately this establishment did not offer a menu for dairy free or gluten free. I ordered a salad and my partner fish and chips. My meal was £10:50 which I found rather expensive for the amount of lettuce on the plate not much else. The fish and chips for under £15 would have been ideal for a child not enough on the plate for a grown man. We were hoping for breakfast when we stopped on our way to a surprise birthday party however the only surprise we really got was stopping here. Disappointed is the key word.

We waited well over 2 hours for a two course meal which took 30 minutes to consume. Others who came later got attended to before us even if they waited a lengthy time. The food was indifferent to poor. I had a small ham and eggs - one badly fried egg on two pieces of cold ham. Others had poor food also. A place to avoid

Had dinner here this week. Good selection of indoor and outdoor seating. As expected given the nice weather, it was busy. Good menu although the specials seemed a little disorganised...lots of "I don't think we have that". He had ham, egg and chips, I ordered veggie fajitas. Fridges apparently packed up causing a delay to getting our meals but we were kept informed... manager was nice but other staff looked like they'd had enough. Okay food for me but I have to say my partner's chips looked a little sad and undercooked although he said it was fine; not what you expect given the price tag. We would try coming here again, but maybe a Sunday lunch.

We decided to go out of town for dinner on a pleasant summer evening and chose the Cross Keys. The light starters we had of scotch egg and sausages were very tasty and were followed by small fish and chips for her and ham, egg and chips for me. These were accompanied by a glass of malbec for me and an Aperol Spritz for her. Followed by coffees.

Having booked a table for 12:30, it was obvious from the minute we arrived that staff were rushed and we were ignored. Having placed our order (which took a while to be taken) it was 1:30 before the food was served. An unacceptable wait. We asked for an additional couple of drinks, and 20 miniutes later, as we were about to give up, finally they came. Everything we asked for had to be asked for twice. Staff were rushed, and the young man was more keen to add the extra drinks to the bill before (about 10 minutes before) they came. Puddings, of which we ordered 2, also took an unacceptably long time to come, and the whole meal, for a table booked for 12:30, took over 2 hours. Whilst I accept this is not a fast food pub, this is unacceptable by any standards. We left, having felt unable to add any service gratuity to the bill (over £100) as the service was, frankly, appalling. I notice on our bill there was advertised a family fun day which had taken place the day before. Inept. My son and daughter-in-law had chosen the venue (we are not local), and I was embarrassed for them as they too were clearly disappointed. Such a shame for a nice looking pub with a lovely garden on a sunny day.

On a long journey home we came off at Swindon to find somewhere to eat. We came across a sign for Cross Keys so followed the direction, driving down the long, windy road....... quite a distance.

We had made a local call near Swindon and passed the Cross Keys pub in Lower Warnborough on the way in.

A huge improvement in food quality and waiting staff since our last visit 18 moths ago. The whole experience was spot on thank you. The burger, Sunday roast and lamb were delicious. The puddings like the Eton mess and vanilla creme brûlée could not have been better. Very many thanks. We’ll be back!

I and my family had never been to the pub before and, on arrival, we found it extremely warm and welcoming. The staff were very kind and attentive and the restaurant was clean and inviting.

We visited the Cross Keys for lunch, and found the whole experience very enjoyable. The staff were extremely attentive, and ensured that we were looked after. The food was delicious, and served hot and quickly. I personally had the mackerel pate, and the lamb for main course - both were excellent

This pub has so much potential but it never ever delivers. And I’m not willing to give it any more chances. Especially when you could visit the New Calley Arms (who were fully booked) up the road for an amazing home cooked meal for 2/3s of the price.

I came here with friends for my Birthday. I had a Great Birthday Meal here with friends and was served by friendly staff.

I would not recommend this place to anyone. Very disappointed with the meal, staff ignorant and drinks overpriced

we had a day out at Stanton and then popped in here for dinner, the food was amazing as usual and so were the staff, we were quite lucky as we had the returant to our selves but that could be due to the fact that we checked on line and it said it was shut ,it was a bank holiday, so we came home and i phoned them and they said it was open, mabe that needs to be sorted out, Sophie looked after us and she was delightful.

Visited here recently for a family meal. Great menu choices and the staff were warm and friendly. Everyone happy with their meals as were served piping hot, only a slight disappointment was the burger. Dry and a bit on the this side rather than the gourmet style I was expecting. Is a great pub to have on your doorstep - pity it's not on ours.

Took my mum and dad for lunch to celebrate my mum's birthday and so glad we chose The Cross Keys. It was surprisingly busy for a Wednesday lunchtime but the staff were great, friendly and attentive and the food was top notch. I chose the fish pie, mum had the honey glazed ham, eggs & chips and dad (whose appetite these days is quite small) had the small plate size of sausages & mash. Each of the dishes was delicious, the fish pie was creamy and full of fish and my mum couldn't stop commenting on how lovely the ham was! My dad polished off the sausages and mash which was the perfect portion for him with two sausages. Mum and I struggled on and chose desserts - mum had the crumble with custard and I had the creme brulee with mulberry sorbet and shortbread - both of which were absolutely yummy and beautifully presented. Thank you for a lovely birthday lunch - we look forward to returning again.

Very disorganised and the food was below average. On a positive note the Garden was great for the kids.

We booked the morning of a Sunday for Lunch I was told that they could fit us ( 3 ) when we arrived they couldn't find our booking, Asked if we mind going the opposite of the restaurant it took 1/2 an hour before a waitress came took our drinks order it was 3/4 before our starter arrived which was disappointing and expensive for a pub starter (£7 )

Friendly welcome and shown to a table. Drinks brought to us. Ordered Ham Egg and Chips. Now I’m a connoisseur of this lunchtime staple. The ham, though lean and plentiful was rather tasteless, and the chips were the frozen variety. Eggs were a little over cooked. I mark it out of 10 and this was a 5.
