Charming pub but food disappointing -totally overhyped. Not particularly interesting flavours or combinations. Portions meagre, cooking not en pointe. Mediocre at best. Very plain side dishes (boiled cabbage)and prices extortionate for all of that. Emperor's new clothes springs to mind. Must be trading off a dedicated fan base who are being hood winked.

We were passing through Minchinhampton on our way to Cornwall so decided to have a meal a the Crown. It was a pleasant evening so we chose to sit in the lovely garden area on one of the comfy rattan seats having a drink. Suddenly I felt quite uncomfortable. I stood up to find that my trousers (& underwear) were wet. The reason was that the cushion I was sat on was wet. Being foam it had presumably been left out in the rain of previous days so although looked ok it was soaking wet. How absolutely annoying. Why on earth would you leave foam cushions outside at the mercy of the elements. For goodness sake, take them in at the end of the evening & bring them out in the morning when the weather allows. it's not rocket science ! Needless to say we did not stay for a meal !!

Pre-booked afternoon with friends which was amazing, one of the best I’ve had! The sandwiches were lovely and fresh, delicious scones and the cakes were excellent. As many refills of tea or coffee as you wanted and the member of staff who looked after us was really friendly. All this for £20 each. Having had a few afternoon tea’s recently including one at Blenheim Palace…this is by far the best! Would definitely recommend it for any occasion.

We have used Saffron for a few years and it has been super tasty. Unfortunately, the last couple of times just haven't been the same. The bread has suddenly become very dense, thick and almost undercooked. Today my chicken tikka didn't come with the usual salad or yogurt dressing. I love these parts and I really missed them. It was really disappointing as they are an integral part to the dish. I think we're going to try somewhere else now. Such a shame.

I love this Stroud institute! I love the atmosphere and decor and the view from the upstairs seating area is just great. I go here a lot with friends for coffee and cake, lunch and brunch. I have to eat gluten and dairy free and always find something delicious to eat. I would not hesitate to recommend Woodruffs. Last time I went I had a delicious Chai tea in a teapot! Definitely ponts for teapots and then a Citrus Cake which was divine! One of my favourite places in Stroud.

For people hiking the Cotswolds Way or just stopping by the area: stay here! Whiteshill is the "town-on-the-hill near Stroud. It is a sleepy little town with magnificent views, a beautiful church, a cute little town store that serves coffee and fresh baked goods (it is also a short 25mins hike to a Tesco Superstore!!!). Talked with a local "Whiteshillian" and he told us that the new owners of the Pub/Hotel are "very nice people". We're pretty sure that is true. The rooms have updated bathroom facilities with great water pressure and very hot water. The beds are very comfortable. Certain things are a bit dated: like coffee machine, carpets, sofa, a couple of ceiling lights out...but clean...very clean. A work in progress. Pub seems to be very popular, was full on a Monday night. So, bottom line: stay here for a unique stay/area. Also, nice to support a working couple keeping a pub/hotel alive. Whiteshill, who woulda thunk?

I don’t often visit Nailsworth but we were here on holiday and I was keen to visit what had always been one of my favourite bakeries. I came today for coffee and cake with my mother and having ordered two coffees and cake to eat in we were surprised that my mother was given her cake in a paper bag. I presumed maybe there had been a misunderstanding? We duly went upstairs to sit down at a table and we were surprised to be served our coffee in takeaway cups and not in crockery cups. My cake didn’t arrive so I had to go and ask for it. It also arrived in a paper bag and not on a plate? Nobody explained or apologised when we were at the till as to why this was going to be the case and generally the staff seemed rushed and nowhere as friendly or as engaging as when I have visited here several times before. If they were short staffed or there was a problem serving using proper crockery then maybe an explanation when we ordered or a notice at the till would have been good. Not the best experience and wished we had gone elsewhere now. Having been to The Kitchen yesterday in Minchinhampton where we were warmly greeted like old friends the difference in the welcome and service was very apparent. Come on Hobbs, you have stiff competition out there and can certainly do so much better.

This lovely village pub is under new management and wow, they have made their mark already. The atmosphere is brilliant, food delicious and there are many events organised to enjoy. We attended on curry night - my husband and I had the beef madras which was really tasty. My Dad had the chef’s beef and ale pie - and he thought it was delicious! We feel that this pub is a valued part of our community and can’t wait to go again on Friday for the live music entertainment!

A pleasant Sunday morning after a business meeting near by.4 of us had a couple of beers and a couple of coffees lovely atmosphere. And a great dj Dubbu playing some great chilled out tunes with a tribute to Frankie Beverly from maze who had sadly passed away . it would of been so easy to stay and enjoy the relaxed warm friendly atmosphere. We will definitely return soon .

Very polite staff accommodated two scruffy walkers for a last minute afternoon tea in their comfortable well decorated lounge - excellent quality food and we weren’t left hungry which is often the case in London where we live. You absolutely get what you pay for, we’ll be visiting again if we’re in the area.
