Bens Takeaway Dursley in Stroud

Hasn't served Pizza in months apparently, despite the menu still having an entire section for them. Spring rolls were burnt on the outside and undercooked on the inside. Chips were soggy and soft. Rang many many times with no answer. It wasn't even that busy.

We had five various pizzas, under their August offer of a 10” for a fiver, and we thoroughly enjoyed them. Highly recommended. The only reason this review isn’t five stars is because one pizza had extra jalapeños on it and these cost £2.50, which seemed a bit dear.

Great food. However can be a little bit of a wait but it is worth it

just been informed the prices have gone up. BUT not updating online till next week!!!! will not change things on menu. ie split things like chicken balls and prawn half in half its one or another...... stopped doing chipshop food. (9 months of not doing chip sho, menu online is still showing) i will not recomend.

We were very disappointed with the quality of the meat in the chicken balls on our take away last week. It was so chewy and gristly. Really disgusting, we had to throw them away. The chow mein and rice were ok. But the chicken balls were the worst ever

Look the food is great and i totally recomend it, but i ordered the plain chow main and recieved vegtable chow mein. They also had neglected to inform us that they did french frys even though chips is on the menu.

We have ordered twice from Ben’s now, the first time ordered Chicken chow mien. When it arrived the chow mien was burnt. Ordered again last week and said to the member of staff please can we not have a burnt chow mien like last time. And what happened a AGAIN it was burnt. Will not be going there again.

Great selection of food and all seems very good so far, really tasty and reasonable prices. Friendly staff, can be a bit if a wait but worth it for fresh food.

Tonight my husband rang up for a delivery, A man answered and huffed and said what do you want, never happened before and normally polite but after that we won’t be getting a Bens again costumer service was poor.

Not good chinese, prawn toast tasted vile and no sesame seeds to be seen. Beef with mushroom had a weird taste and partners pie was cold. Never again

Bought fish, chips and mushy peas tonight. The chips were absolutely dreadful, clearly yesterday's, very hard and still cold in the middle! The server had drowned them in vinegar, so much so, the paper used to wrap them could have been wrung out. The fish was ok, but one was not a proper fillet, it seemed like an offcut! My daughter said she has never had chips from a chippy that she couldn't eat!! Appalling, a waste of money.

Usually have Chinese food from here but this time food was barely Luke warm had a long blonde hair incased in the food and a piece of bone in what was meant to be boneless chicken safe to say won’t be ordering again from this place

Always great food, arrives hot and fresh and consistent quality.

Just had fish and chips. The worse ever. Batter not cooked all the way through. The chips were anaemic. Shambles. Bought 2 pots of curry sauce which they packed side by side so when tied the bag they were pressed together forcing a lid off so a bag full of curry sauce. Disgusting. Avoid at all costs. Should have the bill for cleaning curry sauce off my carpet. Don't visit

Tried this place for the first time the other night and discovered it's not great. Watery sauces and really dry, overcooked spare ribs. Flavours were ok but nothing special.

Had a large Chinese takeawy last night with family. Oh dear. Bens has always been so good. Had set meal B with other dishes added. Beef in garlic and chilli... mostly raw onion, beef chewy, sauce poor. In fact many vegetables seemed almost raw especially the onion and celery. King Prawn and mushroom... just a thin 'gravy' House special chow mein... pork chewy, sauce poor, noodles poor. Ribs in BBQ sauce... ribs chewy and if that was BBQ sauce then oh dear. Ok some was good... the Duck, Chicken balls, Yung Chow rice. I will speak to Bens about this but please sort this out.

Always a friendly reception. Good ‘proper’ chips, good selection of pies, fish and usual chip shop items. Where Ben’s really comes into it’s own however is the Chinese cuisine side of the takeaway. The dishes are rich and generous, never skimping on the meat part of the dish if that floats your boat but equally good with the vegetable dishes. We are always awkward and request sweet and sour vegetables which is not technically on the menu bit it is never a problem and i think this is worth a lot. Food here is vile!! Wasn’t cooked properly and wasnt even the slightest bit warm when delivered!! Wouldn’t even give this place 1 star it’s that bad!….

Very good quality fish and chips. Although quite expensive (especially the mush peas - overpriced and also a massive portion) definitely would recommend to a friend as it was perfect and well worth the price. Will be returning.

Chips were tasteless, hard and seemed like they had been recooked. Fish was tasty. Wouldn't eat here again though for the expense of half a meal.

Dreadful takeaway. Ordered last night and basically gruel arrived, veg looked liked it had been boiled for a week, sloppy watery sauces, meat couldn't chew. Greasey noodles. £33 for 2 cans of free Pepsi.. The rest went in the bin.

Ben’s is always busy because the food is awesome. Portion sizes are more than ample and food is always piping hot.

Couldn't taste the prawn flavour in my this king prawn dish because it was too spicy, vegetables we all over cooked like mush, the sauce that came with it was pissing allover my plate and lacked and real flavour, the prawns were chewy and weren't cleaned properly. Then I had the chilli and garlic beef dish, beef was nicely cooked and veggies were okay as well. could do with some more beef in it because I had couple of pieces and that was it. I know I won't be retiring for more in the future.

Best Chinese for miles. Whenever visiting Gloucester we always have a Chinese from here. Never been disappointed Always gorgeous 👍🏼

The food from Ben's is always so good, the person who takes the orders is always lovely and polite. Delivery is always on time too. Not one complaint. :)

What can I say. I’m a london gal and I have to say this is the best tasting Chinese I’ve ever had. I’ll continue to use bens without a shadow of a doubt

Firstly I must apologise for the lack of photos but when food is this good eating comes first. We had unexpected guests arrive and rather than cook and eat late it was decided to order food that could be delivered. I won’t list all the items as it was a big order, ‘eyes bigger than belly’ comes to mind. The food was delivered quickly and was piping hot. Every single item was absolutely delicious and I would thoroughly recommend giving this local takeaway a try.

Great food at very reasonable prices. Offering chippy, kebabs and Chinese means you are bound to find what you fancy. Staff are always polite and provide fast and excellent service. Ben's is my go to takeaway every time.

Had a big take away from here and it was good. Really nice chips. The rest of the meals were good too.

I tried to get lee hog bore teeth

we usually use other chip shops locally. but not any more. Ben's were cheaper, larger portions and freshly cooked.

I've been eating from Ben's for 5 years now and I can say that I never had any problems. Food was always fresh and tasty, the staff is polite.

They offer a Chinese takeaway with efficient home delivery. I must say it’s the best Chinese takeaway I’ve had anywhere. Genuinely tasty, generous portions, with good quality ingredients. Very much enjoyed the plum and pineapple duck, super prawns in black bean sauce, mixed veggies, rice and complimentary prawn crackers all for twenty quid.

This is a new takeaway in Dursley, used to be a chippy, now does good Chinese food. Enjoyed what we had and would go again.
