The building and setting at Leaf and Ground is beautiful. I’ve been here before but never eaten in the cafe so wasn’t sure what to expect. We pre-booked a table as we were meeting a friend with their family, making our group 9 people (4 adults and 5 kids). They did charge £5 per person as a deposit but we were glad we could book a guarantee a space for our party. Service was a little slow at points, drinks took awhile to arrive and had to grab someone’s attention to order food. However the food didn’t take too long - it was also delicious and very good quality. I had the chicken parm which was tasty, and my husband had ham, egg and chips, both were very decent sized portions. I would agree with other comments about the kids fries being salty, they were fine to my taste but the kids weren’t especially keen (they don’t normally have salt on their food) - so it might be worth taking that on board for future. We then enjoyed a walk around the grounds after lunch (the kids loved romping around the woodland area). We then had a stop at the kiosk for ice cream/milkshakes, followed by a trip to the kids play area. A very pleasant way to spend a sunny October afternoon and we will be back :)

The food and staff were good but there are far too many dogs for it to be comfortable. Owners let them wander around and sniff people. There was lots of barking. Staff petted them, I didn't see them wash their hands afterwards.

We went last Thursday, lovely place, very clean and tidy, beautiful views. I saw the deli counter, and thought, great, they may have some Stinking Bishop, I was told no, but we have Minger, I was told that its very similar, £5.95 for a small package. Very disappointed 😞 nothing like Stinking Bishop at all, won't ask their advice again 🙄!!!

Leaf & Ground in Dursley offers a delightful experience with its stunning scenery and welcoming atmosphere. Nestled in a picturesque setting, the cafe serves excellent coffee and delicious cakes, making it an ideal spot for relaxation. The friendly staff enhance the visit, though booking a table in advance is wise due to its popularity. Overall, it's a perfect destination for enjoying quality refreshments amidst beautiful surroundings.

Fantastic place, looking forward to coming back. In the summer this place will be so busy as it's got so much space and designed for relaxing. There is a cafe/restaurant, small delicatessen, packing free items available, mini garden centre, lots of walk and play areas. Going to be going a lot. Edit: I visit at least once a week and still love it. Also as it is colder the Soups are back, the best soup in the town without doubt. Would highly recommend the scotch eggs or sausage rolls, delicious. Always more to see every visit. Love Winter, as they have the BEST soups! The hot deli selection is great: Sausage Rolls, Scotch Eggs, even the vegetarian food is sooo good. Definitely pencil yourself a visit.

We popped in for a mid morning bite to eat at 11.30am but the whole system for ordering food was totally disorganised, in fact, chaotic. We wanted a brunch, but were told that food wasn't available until 12.00 so we ended up with a scone and a toasted teacake, and two coffees. The scone was delicious as was the coffee, but it took ages to arrive. Goodness knows how long it takes if one orders a main meal. In fact, we didn't get served until after midday so we could have had a cooked meal after all. The waiting staff were delightful, but seemed to have little idea on food safety, as despite asking for no butter, it appeared on the plate. Away from the restaurant the shops were very pleasant to browse if a little expensive. The one exception was the pop up shop where a delightful lady was selling her own home made jewellery which was sensibly priced. The situation is beautiful and lot of money has obviously been spent on the establishment, but the chaotic restaurant situation spoilt it.

A nice place with lovely walks, a great playground for the kids, a small but well stocked deli and an inside and outside cafe. Coffee was nice and food taken away from deli very tasty (and despite comments in previous reviews, not overly expensive). Would have given 5 stars but had to knock down to 4 due to the number of dogs. I know the place is proud of its dog friendly reputation but I don’t particularly want my legs dog-licked due to the actions/inactions of irresponsible dog owners whilst waiting in the queue, nor do I want the enjoyment of my coffee impacted by constant loud barking. I know that the place is not at fault but I won’t be returning.

The main eating area is more like a cafe setting than restuarant. Not café prices and early closing. Beware that ALL the food is heavily salted and you need to request it without at time of order. Ask for a cruet set of you want to choose the level of salt. The venue is purpose built with courtyard and outer tiered parking in the grounds with pond. Shop areas of plants and foods add interest.

I really want to give this place a 5 star review - the staff are friendly, the building, grounds and views are lovely, and the food with a few tweaks would be great. However, it loses one star for the food being *incredibly* salty, a shame as they had clearly made an effort to prepare it freshly and not take short cuts (e.g. own made veggie sausages, hash browns and baked beans). And it loses another star because the staff (however lovely) were a bit chaotic - while our main order was correct, they didn't bring water we had asked for till prompted (desperately needed after all the salt consumed), and a second round of coffees we ordered never materialised. And they brought an extra breakfast that we hadn't ordered! Incidentally I overheard someone at the table next to us say something about the food being over-salted too, so it wasn't just us being picky. I do hope Leaf and Ground can address these issues, as they deserve to be a thriving business.

Booked a table for a father's day coffee and cake with family. We booked a table for which we had to pay a deposit. Everything about the visit was a disappointment. Despite it being father's day, when you might expect families with children to visit it was all quite "grown up" cakes, nothing with chocolate. One of our party didn't like any of the cakes. We asked if there were other cakes and were told no. Ah hour after we arrived, we still hadn't received our order. I asked when it would arrive and was told they'd had excessive orders and would put ours to the front of the queue now. When it arrived, the carafe of water had mould in it. Took it to the counter and they apologised and said it must've been because it had just been through the wash! Not sure how that explained it! The milk jugs had stains and dirt inside them. We mentioned it to the staff and they said it was from the team and coffee. In a milk jug?! We asked to speak to the manager. She came and listened to what we said then proceeded to blame anyone and anything else and tell us how stressed she was. She said the till system had gone down, causing issues with the orders. She said the staff were overwhelmed because they were just back from doing exams at university (and later said to my mum that they needed their bums wiping). She said the coffee machine only makes 2 coffees at a time so that holds things up. She said they were fully booked in the morning and at lunchtime and so it was very busy and the bar area was not big enough for amount of service they had to do when it was busy. We mentioned the lack of more child friendly cakes and she said there was a chocolate cake in the back waiting to be brought out. When we said we asked about chocolate cakes we'd been told no and she said she didn't know why that had happened. She also had a bit of a rant about how they couldn't win because these days they have to cater for gluten free and vegan etc and they get told off if they don't have them all out! She said she would get more milk and then didn't come back, my mum went over to ask and she said she hadn't managed to get back to us because she'd been washing up! She said she would give us our drinks for free as a gesture of goodwill, but then didn't take off the amount we paid for the deposit (it was stated at the time of booking that this would be taken off the final bill), so we had to ask for that to be removed. She got more and more short with us and clearly couldn't wait to get us out of there. I felt it was unfair to blame the staff, they were all working very hard and we're all polite and very apologetic about the issues. To be fair the manager was also working very hard, but it didn't seem right for her to just blame them because they were young. All in all very disappointed, not in a hurry to go back.

Really disappointed with our experience - wish I’d looked at Tripadvisor before our visit, if I had I wouldn’t have wasted the time or the money (so over priced?!) I have celiac disease and asked two members of staff about gluten free options - neither were helpful so I ended up just feeding my two kids and having a coffee. Service was very slow. My sons sausages were pale and extremely pink inside and when I questioned a server about 35 minutes after the food was bought out, because that’s the first time I managed to catch someone to speak too she said she ‘thinks they’re supposed to be like that’ and walked off. It seems they’ve tried very hard to fancy up the menu of a little garden centre but have forgotten to employ competent staff. Would absolutely not recommended

The cafe Coffee very nice and the homemade cakes were superb, the meal was let down by the poor frittata it was neither hot not cold and had so many lumps of cauliflower in it that they overrode any other taste. The mixed salad leaves were only just clinging to the right side of freshness with their finger tips. At £12 overpriced. The deli Bought a chicken pie and it was one of the worst I have tasted, Reheated at home and when I opened the oven door I was transported back to the 60’s to my Manchester primary school canteen, it just smelt of boiled onion. I opened it and that’s exactly what was in it, apart from a few pieces of tasteless chicken, sorry guys not a good filling although the pastry was nice. We do like visiting this café; part of a multifunctional development which includes a shop selling garden hardware, plants and gifts. Our trip today was primarily to pick-up an order of wine from a winery a further 2.5 miles onward journey. We set-out with a clear plan; to have lunch here and then collect the wine, and then return home. Due to a previous appointment we had reserved our table for 13:45, which was unnecessary as the café was nowhere near full. We decided we should make this our main-meal of the day, and ordered a burger each; each with a serving of fries. This was a main plate from the ‘Lunch Menu’ as opposed to the ‘Deli Menu’. To drink my Partner ordered an Americano Coffee with hot milk. I ordered a pot of tea for two; this would provide about two and a half large cups. The tea and coffee arrived, and both my Partner and I were very satisfied with the very good quality and temperature of the drinks. I mostly drank the tea in half cups, so that the tea had extra time to brew, and as a consequence the last full cup was really very strong (this was good as I do like strong tea). The ‘Longhorn Beef’ burgers soon arrived and they did look good, and the fabulous taste matched the looks, as they were without doubt the best burger we have had in many-a-year. The 6oz burger was flavoursome, hot and juicy with an excellent brioche bun, good cheese, gherkin, tomato and a really good burger sauce. There was a plentiful serving of hot, seasoned and crispy fries; too many for my Partner, and I couldn’t help her out as I was already full. We didn’t have room for dessert, but we did buy a few items from the deli counter, a Beef Shin Pie, two sausage rolls and a couple of Frangipane Mince Pies. Service was prompt, pleasant and efficient: it was a great visit.

We found this place on an explore up from Bristol. And what a find! It's not sure if it's a garden centre, and farm shop, a delicatessen or a cafe... but it works. We chose food from the deli, drinks at the cafe and ate them all together at our table. Great views across to the Severn, everything is high quality and well looked after. Outside is a good open area up the hill with gravel paths for even better views across the young Severn. 4 stars service just because they were short staffed on the day we were there.

Went for coffee and cake mid-morning. Poor service but fancy system with paying online did mean we could keep track of everything missing from our order!! Vegan options but extra 45p for alternative milk - ridiculous!!!!

Open at 10.00 am. Isolated position and seems very posh! High end finish - interior design, furnishings and interiors. Trying to be super trendy rustic. Lady on Deli quite grumpy!!? Lady on takeaway Very friendly and helpful thank u. Very expensive take - out coffee and loads of massive cakes & pastries. No healthy breakfast food weekdays. Fabulous gift shop though.

Shop is lovely and the lady behind the counter was lovely. Had a hot chocolate, was not hot at all, even asked to make sure it was hot, expensive, but the staff are lovely

This had always been our place to go until last Sunday. Very Disappointed with our breakfast, all was luke warm with bacon dry and had been kept warm, solid oily potato hash brown. Beans were unusually spiced, could go on sadly. Staff as always amazing therefore couldn't face telling them how awful breakfast was. Not freshly cooked as previously experienced. Will keep to only going lunchtimes.

This place has a breath taking view, the scenery is so beautiful, you can't get enough of it,very fresh air, people start flocking very early as early as 10 o'clock. The food served here is so fresh from the garden, they grow their own food, there are no waiters you serve from a central window, you order, pay and eat. They sell English pudding, sausage rolls, vegetable pies, if you don't make it early, you will be lucky to find any food. This is stroud, there is a natural forest where you can take a walk with your peers, family. If you are around stroud, pay them a visit. A lot is happening, highly recommended.

Popped in around 10:30am for a coffee and cake with wife. Cafe was fairly full. Cheerful staff giving table service. Only hot food at weekends. Clean toilets. Wonderful views across countryside.

I love it here. I think I visit it at least 3 times a month. I take friends, family and my clients over. I love the food, it's delicious and not your big standard fare. The service is always with a smile. I always end my cafe experience with a stroll through the shop which has some very good fresh produce and groceries. Highly recommend a stroll around the grounds too. It's so peaceful.

I usually don’t write bad reviews and I wish I’d felt comfortable to say something at the time. Took my 2 year old son for lunch at the cafe this afternoon as a treat for him. Mildly confused by the ‘fully booked’ sign on the door, maybe I misunderstood but we went in anyway shown to a table and helpfully the staff member bought over a high chair (really appreciate that btw!) Nice surrounding and there was a really nice environment in there with some lush views (it was some great sunny weather!) We had to wait a little while to place order, but it’s lunchtime and there were a fair few people in there. Ordered children’s sausage and chips (no peas, my child is highly suspicious of anything colourful and probably would’ve dropped them all on the floor!) His food was brought over, and the sausages were pretty anemic, and I cut into one to let it cool before he ate, needn’t have bothered, they were lukewarm and, in my opinion, looked like they were only just cooked through. The chips were also already at an eatable temperature verging on cold, so he could tuck in straight away. The chances that he’d want to eat the sauces were slim, so maybe that stopped me something, and no one asked us how the food was, which eased my anxiety of having to say something. I also didn’t want to keep little man waiting any longer to eat. £7.50 for this mediocre, at best, food when I was concerned my toddler could’ve been very ill from undercooked meat. And it’s a shame the price of the food isn’t passed onto the staff’s wages, as one of the waitresses was just about wearing a pair of Converse that had probably seen better days about 5 years ago 😉😂 I’m sure I’ll go back for coffee and cake, but will think twice about having a meal there. Another positive was being able to pay via the QR code on the table, meant I didn’t have to speak to any staff and could slip away.

First time here for lunch. The food was on the expensive side but we felt that the ingredients were good quality and worth the money. Children's chips were incredibly salty which wasn't good. We visited on a Saturday and whilst it was busy, the restaurant staff seemed really unorganised, e.g. we asked for the children's menu, but had to go up to the counter to remind the server and eventually got one, 5 minutes after giving our order to one server, another server came over and asked if we'd like to see the menus! and it was evident that the chefs had food ready to be taken out to tables, but it was taking a while for the servers to actually serve it. Seemingly very disorganised service which was a shame, perhaps more training needed.

Really interesting place, very nice views and nice buildings. We came here off the M5 and wanted a takeaway or a quick lunch but found the whole experience very disjointed. The staff were perfectly nice but it is very bizarre that you cannot pay for all the products together. If you want cakes you have to pay for them in one room, if you want pastries you have to pay for them at the deli etc. The most bizarre point was that whilst they offer this for takeaway there are no facilities to heat this up. We therefore had to have our sausage rolls etc cold which is ok but hot would be preferable. The food however was delicious. Needs to be organised better.

We arrived in Stroud mid afternoon on a Saturday. The kids were starving and every other place we tried to get into was in the process of shutting. Despite Stroud being packed, Milano appeared to be the only place open that was still doing lunch or any type of food for that matter ! The lady behind the counter was super friendly and everything that we had to eat was tasty and really good value too. My youngest especially liked the Spag Bol and the proper milk shake made with ice cream. Don`t be put off by some of the reviews on here, it`s a nice place and really friendly. Just don`t go in expecting a restaurant, the clue is in the word cafe !

The restaurant offers well-prepared British food at reasonable prices. Service is swift and friendly. There is a good wine list with plenty of choice at the cheaper end. Vegetarians and vegans are catered for as well as those after a good meat meal. The chefs clearly take a pride in presentation and desserts are better than average. This restaurant is worth the journey into the hills on the outskirts of Gloucester.

Very nice pub, we randomly stopped here because it was on our way to a ghost hunt in the area, and we are so glad we stopped here, the pub was nice and clean, the mother daughter team that run it was really friendly, and the food was outstanding, very well presented, great prices and yummy! We are going back in December and I’m very much looking forward to it.

Delightful and charming cafe and tea room at the southern end of Frampton village green. The homemade cakes were delicious . Light lunch, lots to choose from All items are reasonably priced, well presented, good quality food and love the atmosphere and traditional ambience of this cafe. Staff we found friendly and helpful when ordering our food. We had jacket potatoes, prawns & coronation chicken, both came with salad. We would recommend visiting. Also even more grateful as I left my handbag behind when we left,They kindly put it behind the counter, they remembered us and as soon as we walked back into the cafe they handed it to us without us even having to ask. Thank you xxx
