Poor value. Mash was flattened butter, no garden peas left, offered left over mushy peas. Avoid.

We arrived 10 minutes before Sunday lunch finished. The staff were very accommodating for the family. What I had of the meal was nice. Thick cuts of meat. The atmosphere is that of a traditional pub. Yhe regulars around the bar and some playing darts.

Highly recommend the Old Forge for a Sunday roast! Visited last week and it was so delicious, everything was cooked perfectly and beautifully seasoned, and cooked from fresh. You can tell a lot of love had been put into the food here! Cozy environment and a great place to relax! The owners and team were so friendly, we loved it and will be back!

Four of us (of mature years) called in for dinner on a Friday evening to receive a warm welcome from the landlord, chef and local patrons. The facilities were basic, clean and typical of an older style local pub without the plastic frills so common everywhere today. The ambiance was very friendly and the resident wire haired dachshund made us all very welcome before returning to its bed beside the bar in order to resume its slumbers. The food was excellent, home made and carefully prepared having never been anywhere near a microwave. Tasty and good value. The chef also took the trouble to visit our table in order to make sure his cooking was to our liking and that there was nothing else we needed before he signed off for the evening - we had taken that long over dinner! Very relaxing and thank you all for a great evening. We only wished we could have stayed longer to enjoy a drink with local customers who seemed to be in no hurry to go home. A hidden gem and one we will gladly return to next time we pass through Gloucester.

Just visited this afternoon. Decided to stop on a whim for food; no roasts offered but may have run out or just not been on offer today. Had a homemade moussaka and a scampi fish , both came with Greek salad/feta and chips (proper chips with good oil). Lovely fresh food and great that delightful Greek chef popped out to serve etc and had a quick chat where he came from originally etc. Beer garden much improved with flowers since a previous visit, will return !

Visiting the area, heading out of Gloucester at 1pm on a Sunday, desperate for food. Came across the old Forge - best Sunday lunch I have had put for a long time. Beautifully cooked meat, and big portion of fresh veg. Staff were really friendly. Really pleased we went here rather than the Whitminster Inn next door who couldn’t fit us in till 3 and in any event didn’t look a patch on what we had. Totally recommend.

Visited this quaint pub for Sunday roast and was a bit disappointed to be truthful. Everyone knows that gravy on our dinner is a personal choice - some like lots, others only a little but to be charged £2.75 for a small jug of gravy on an already pricey roast dinner (£14.50) is rather over the top! Chicken was dry, the 2 slices of lamb were very fatty. No yorkie puds and bland watery vegetables…. It was an OK roast dinner and the 2 roast potatoes were lovely but in our opinion overpriced and as for the extra charge for gravy??… Hmmmm - think they need to review this price point.

We booked a table for three and stopped off for a Sunday Lunch. We ordered "home made" tomato soup as starters and three mains. After waiting 40 minutes for the soup to arrive (only one other table eating) we were disapointed to be served a shallow dish of tasteless water, as if one sachet of cuppa soup was split between us all. At £4.75 per bowl, I just couldn't justify paying it so decided to leave it. I pointed this out to the waitress who took the bowls to the kitchen but did not say anything. The mains arrived and it was the same story. The cod was Icelands finest, greasy and grey. The Stilton chicken was lovely, so credit where its due. The mixed grill was dry so asked for it to be wrapped for the dog. I put it down to a bad experience and went to the bar to pay. The owner then asked for over £60 so I asked if the soup had been removed from the bill. She rudely said "it says home made, not thick soup". I said I was well aware of that but did not expect it to be home made by stirring a cuppa soup with water from the kettle and they have the cheek to class this as home made. I told her the soup was vile and inedible so she agreed to remove the cost of one. No apology, no customer care at all. There are signs written on A4 paper all over the pub and on the entrance door saying "swearing will not be tolerated, repeated offenders will be banned". If this is how customers are treated, it's no wonder they might have a tendency to say a few choice words.

Our meals were okay, no complaints, it was average pub fayre. However, when settling up I was told the two for £15 meal deal does not apply on w/ends, despite the menus advertising it across the page. Curious pub, small but with a large TV screening football; looking around it certainly seemed to dent the art of conversation.

The surrounds are good for the period. Not large, but comfortable, with friendly staff and locals. I had the steak and ale pie which was very good, sadly I can't say the same for the accompanying vegetables. The roast pork meat was very good. See above re veggies. The roast chicken, ditto. We all felt the veggies were mainly over cooked. However, the sweet potato chips were great. The wines were good.

Was looking forward to a good coffee. Unfortunately coffee poor and lukewarm (even though requested it extra hot). I was also overcharged but didn’t realise at the time. Had to remind staff for item they forgot. Such a shame as it’s a quirky place and additional space for young children to play but not value for money.

Delightful and charming cafe and tea room at the southern end of Frampton village green. The homemade cakes were delicious . Light lunch, lots to choose from All items are reasonably priced, well presented, good quality food and love the atmosphere and traditional ambience of this cafe. Staff we found friendly and helpful when ordering our food. We had jacket potatoes, prawns & coronation chicken, both came with salad. We would recommend visiting. Also even more grateful as I left my handbag behind when we left,They kindly put it behind the counter, they remembered us and as soon as we walked back into the cafe they handed it to us without us even having to ask. Thank you xxx

Well the cafe has some marvellous cakes - the flapjack was absolutely delicious1 You can also take them away. Be aware that they close promptly by 4pm so dont leave ordering too late. There are some nice gifts in the shop - I bought incense for presents. If you want to see the monastery chapel be aware that it is nowhere near to the car park and cafe - if you like a walk that is fine, if your mobility is limited there is space to park up near the monastery itself. The walled garden looked rather sad!
