As ever, Alessandro has got it right! The pizze are always great and he's always got a smile on his face. We go here regularly (pre-order and stop for a pint on the way!). I always have the carnivore (extra spicy) and the wife always has a margharita and at £18 for the two, a real bargain. He's only there Thursday, Friday and Saturday and it's always best to pre-order to ensure he hasn't run out of pizza dough! He's also in nearby Long Sutton on Wednesdays. Especially recommended

Some months ago we visited Somerton and decided to pop in for a coffee. It was 3.20pm. The lady at the gift shop counter said that we were too late for the cafe, so we left. Outside on the blackboard was written ‘last orders at 3.30pm’. It didn’t say when they closed. Today we were due to go to Somerton again so I looked up the cafe on Google and it said that they close at 4.30pm. At 3.35pm we walked in and one lady was cashing up whilst another was vacuuming. I pointed out the closing time on Google and was told, ‘There’s nothing we can do about that as the hours are set by Google!’ I replied that this wasn’t true. We run a business and know that all you have to do is use your Google login to change details such as hours.

What a delightful place to stay at. We stayed for a couple of nights to visit the surrounding area and had the friendliest welcome and comfortable stay. James, the waiter in the evening, was a credit to them. He helped you choose what to eat and was attentive and friendly. The food was outstanding, especially the fish dishes. The breakfast was the best we have ever had and was cooked to order with local produce. Cannot wait to return.

We booked a table in advance for four to celebrate my mother-in-law’s 88th birthday. The welcome, food and service were excellent. We had afternoon tea; the sandwiches were “door stop” size with plenty of filling. Cakes and scones were excellent. We had to take some home as we couldn’t eat it all. Perfect celebration. The only disappointment is that they no longer accept tips on credit card so remember to take some cash…..!

The Cross Keys is an unpretentious roadside village pub; no frills and nothing fancy but what you get is very good. The interior decorations are somewhat eclectic - the bar wall is papered with monetary notes from all over, making that wall worth a lot of cash - whilst the other walls in the bar are plastered with hundreds of beer mats! Staff 'uniform' seems to be whatever was lying around when they got up, mainly jeans and tee shirts, but don't let any of that put you off coming here. Great selection of well kept beer, ciders galore (well this is deepest Somerset, what do you expect?) and a lot of 'different' gins are all on offer. Add on large portions of competitively priced food promptly served and you'll be glad that you pulled into here - the large car park is at the rear, accessed by the scruffy road down the side of the pub.

We dined at 28 Market Place on Friday March 31st, a birthday meal. We were delighted by both the food and the service. The menu is reassuringly small, but sufficiently varied, and both my pickled mackerel starter and lamb rump main were very well cooked and presented, as were my wife’s linguine and cod. .Though certainly not cheap, it was fairly priced and good value, and considerably less expensive than the only plausible (though excellent) local rival in Bruton. Overall, it was a pleasurable experience, and we would be delighted to come again.

Lovely location, great food and friendly service. We went with our son and had a starter and main all the food was fantastic. Son had a pizza and my wife and I had steak and chips. Only given a 4 out of of 5 as a 10% gratuity as automatically added to the bill. To be honest I would have tipped any way as it was all great (and probably more than the 10% ) but I really to like the presumption that I want to tip. Will definitely go back though.

paid £23 for fish finger and chips and 2 burger meals for a burger meal to not turn up the shop to say half hour for another delivery and £6.50 for the other burger !!!! The ac to actual cheek. They let someone take orders on the phone who knows no English so they get it wrong then charge the customer for there mistake. Disgrace

I didn't stay, but I did have Sunday lunch. The service was poor, with several of the staff ignoring us, or avoiding eye contact. We didn't feel at all welcome. When we did get seated we were told the waitress would be "back in a minute", after 15 minutes we went to find someone to order our meal. We ordered the roast dinner, one beef, one chicken. Both were underwhelming, the meat was tough, having been cooked and then kept hot for a long time. The veg was tough and dry. It's a pity, because it's a fine building, in a great location, but the service and the food are not up to scratch.
