A truly excellent meal! Staff were lovely and knowledgable. Get the broccoli and thank me for it later. My goodness it was excellent. Best Italian I've had in Somerset. Also beautifully decorated. Light and airy. Just overall a really lovely experience

We came here for Sunday lunch with friends, and the whole experience was superb. This is probably one of the best Sunday lunches I have been out for (my husband’s cooking sets a very high bar). We also had delicious deserts and wines, and a couple of cocktails for those not driving. Service was spot on too. I wish we were more local to this place, it’s awesome!

Hidden gem. Excellent food and I had one of the best pasta dishes I’ve ever had here. The nduja burrata focaccia is brilliant too.

Had a great night out with friends, the menu was extensive & offered everything you’d want, they have a steak night on a Wednesday & I ordered a rib eye which was cooked well & came with fries & a salad, plus a choice of a sauce. I ordered a side dish of charred leeks which I really enjoyed. The wine list was great and we shared a carafe of American Cabernet Sauvignon. The meal was excellent value & we left feeling full. Can’t wait to return!

This review covers two separate occasions. We had lunch during the week and was so impressed with the quiche that we decided to come for Sunday lunch. The quiche was excellent short crumbly pastry with a selection of delicious salad, chutney and coleslaw. The Sunday lunch was not in the same league. Indifferent service, cold tough meat, let down the overall impression. The veg impressed me - piping hot crispy potatoes, nice greens, yorshire putting a bit dry but the beef was like leather, one small dry piece that was reluctant to be cut. The pork was good but again lukewarm. I always ask myself "should I recommend this restaurant to my friends" - let's just say I would be reluctant.

Lovely location, great food and friendly service. We went with our son and had a starter and main all the food was fantastic. Son had a pizza and my wife and I had steak and chips. Only given a 4 out of of 5 as a 10% gratuity as automatically added to the bill. To be honest I would have tipped any way as it was all great (and probably more than the 10% ) but I really to like the presumption that I want to tip. Will definitely go back though.

Six of visited for breakfast yesterday-we were late from our original booking but our change of times were accommodated rapidly and with politeness. This is a market town, with this fine business that offers a variety of services from bakery, to cafe, deli, to bar to restaurant-Its this level of diversification which allows small businesses like this to adapt and grow. This was around 10-45am, and the venue was busy but service was not diminished in anyway. We had a range of tastes, dietary requirements and hunger levels!! Scrambled egg on sourdough with avocado received really good feedback. I selected eggs, bacon, beans, has brown and sausage. The has browns were outstanding and I would recommend a plate of them alone with a runny fried egg, delicious!!!! Looking at other reviews and some of the slightly negative feedback. You need to open your mind when visiting to 'small plates', artisan products of high quality and service. We find if you do that, you get exactly what you expect. We have dine several times in the evening, and the small plate concept works well. If you want a 'pile them high' traditional dinner, then your expectations are unlikely to be met. But if you want small plates that create a variety of great products, with the emphasis on quality and flavour, that is what you get. The staff are very polite, helpful, have great product knowledge and work incredibly hard. In terms of pricing, its cheaper than London, but will be on par with many of the other establishments of similar quality found in Somerset. However, its all about choice, you can have tea and toast through to Bollinger with Flat Iron Steak and some amazing potatoes!!! Such establishments bring a much needed variety to small towns and we can only but wish them well and hope they continue for many years to come.

We visited to celebrate my Mum’s birthday a fact which had been shared with the restaurant when we booked. The waiter was really unwelcoming and unfriendly throughout the service, which was also slow. His service ruined the meal & occasion

Looking for breakfast as unexpectedly in Somerton & found this place. How lovely?! Beautiful decor, big, bright & airy room. Lovely staff ( v patient t with us 2 middle aged forgetful old bats), delicious food - poached eggs, sausages & sourdough toast & very good, flavoursome coffee. I wish I’d bought some bread. We really enjoyed our visit & will definitely be back.

Very disappointed to read the negative reviews, because this is the best thing to happen in Somerton and a vast improvement on the pretentious and overpriced restaurant in this location previously. Been here twice in the last week - firstly for the Japanese themed evening which was excellent - innovative food, well prepared and not overpriced. Second time for our wedding anniversary where we had the sharing plates, which worked OK, although I would prefer everything to arrive at the same time. However, the lemon sole and the flatiron steak were both excellent and the broccoli and caponata were brilliant side dishes. On both visits the staff were very good and not at all intrusive as one reviewer suggested. For the quality of food, this is definitely not overpriced - maybe it's not the sort of place to go because you can't be bothered to cook, but you get what you pay for! Very highly recommended indeed

We went for the first time on Mother’s Day and were all a little bit stunned at how good it was. We had the roast lamb, pork, and beef and one of us had the risotto. We all agreed it’s the best Sunday lunch we’ve had in years. Was a little cautious having read some of the reviews on here, but we just couldn’t fault it. The place is beautiful, front of house were attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly, and the bill was acceptable for the level of service and quality of dishes. And as for the tiramisu…should be illegal! Be back soon to try the rest of the menu.

Posting again as my review was removed for some reason- We visited Alfredo’s over the weekend and have to say we were left rather disappointed; we had high hopes and so want them to do well but it was just not good value for money. In fact, we came away still hungry – not acceptable for the prices they are charging for ‘tapas’ style portions. We saw the menu outside the restaurant when they first opened and thought it to be reasonable (between £12-£18 for a main course). However, on arrival we were informed that actually, they recommend 2-3 of those dishes per person – pushing the cost up to over £40 per person for the meal. The only other option was pizza – and although lovely, we wanted to try some of the other dishes. I understand the concept, but why not have the option of tapas dished (at tapas prices!) as well as some other options for main courses – pasta’s, risottos etc. We felt a little deceived by the menu that was put out when they opened. We had such high hopes that we had already booked for a group meal in before we visited. We are now considering cancelling this and going elsewhere unless the menu changes. The group consists of people who do not know each other very well and all sharing tapas dishes is not going to work- it is too much messing around and I know people are going to feel bad ordering 3 dishes each and bumping the bill up for everyone else. Everyone we have spoken to has a similar opinion, so we know we are not alone. Please take these comments on board…. we would be visiting frequently with friends and family and whilst we don’t mind paying more for a meal we enjoy, we do not like to be ripped off and left hungry.

Weird! To be fair to them we loved the previous restaurant that occupied the property. The decor has been completely spoilt and it is too bright and far too noisy and they were not very busy. Basically it’s a pizzeria not a small plates Italian restaurant. The menu is very limited and portions too big for small plates. One dish we ordered was charcuterie. It came as sliced meats on a wooden board. Difficult to eat without some garnish maybe some pea shoots, rocket, dressing or just some bread and oil would have been good. The staff were pleasant but amateurish. We will not be returning which is a disappointment as we are not overwhelmed with choice in our part of Somerset.

Really weird experience is the only way I could describe this place. We all felt really uncomfortable with the waiting staff who were standing at the pass staring at us and repeatedly coming around us so that it felt intrusive. The menu is just weird. I have no idea what the sharing plate concept is about and having heard the waitress give the same spiel to other tables neither did anyone else. There’s got to be something wrong with a menu that needs repeatedly explaining. The food was ok. The sharing plate idea doesn’t work with the Italian menu. And if you all have 2-3 plates makes it a strange combination and expensive. Sorry, not for any of us - no one wants to come again.

If you're a local I'd liken the food to that found @ The Old Phwrmacy in Bruton. Really tasty dishes and the right amount as per recommmend on the menu. Not cheap but good value for the standard of food and service. The service was spot on this will surely be another Somerset Gem soon!

Been here twice in the last month. First time was a little bit disappointing - the food was great, but I'm not sure that "sharing plates" works with Italian food in quite the same way as tapas in Spain. Nonetheless, the service was good and friendly, the food was very good and while the prices were not cheap, I thought it was overall fairly good value for money. Even better they have Poretti lager on draught and the wine was good and not wildly overpriced. Went again last night with another couple for the seasonal menu and WOW this was ab fab! The atmosphere was great and buzzy and again the service was good. The food was absolutely unbelievable - my friend reckons it was the best food he's ever had in a restaurant. There was focaccia, arancini and charcuterie to start, then sliced trout with charred lemon (very interesting flavour!). For the main course porchetta with roasted sprouts and crispy potatoes and finally a pretty good pannacotta. We were all very impressed (and very replete!) At £35 per head, this was a good value dining experience par excellence - in London you would have paid at least twice that. Hope they consider doing a similar 2/3/4 course menu as well as the sharing plates. Very very highly recommended - could not have imagined anything better than this - especially within 5 minutes walk of home. Bravo, Henry & the team at Alfredo's

This was our first time at Alfredo’s and it did not disappoint. A wonderful welcome and shown to our table in a busy, friendly and well set out venue. Dishes are based on sharing with your party members but you do not have to. The dishes were delicious and varied. My wife had a gluten free pizza which was immense for her as a Gluten Intollerant diner! I probably tried too many dishes!!!!!! To my detriment as I could not fit in a dessert!! The mains were that good! Service was excellent and attentive without being in your face. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening and would recommend visiting Alfredo’s and supporting this fledgling but impressive business.

We visited today for lunch and were very impressed by the overall ambience, decor, service and most importantly the food! I ordered the roast beef which was tender and absolutely delicious. Thanks to all staff for a lovely experience.

I absolutely recommend Alfredo's. My wife and I travelled from Bristol to meet friends and had a lovely evening at this recently opened restaurant. The atmosphere was very relaxed despite the place being full. There was a constant stream of delicious food from the sharing menu delivered by warm and friendly staff. Although all of it was amazing, I especially liked the steak, potatoes, sea bass and tiramisu. Can't wait forvthe next time.

A presto

Great food, great service and a superb venue. After the demise of 28 it's great to see Alfredo's in Somerton. I'm not sure why people are confused about the menu. It says how to order in the top corner of the menu and the staff explain it, so I guess people aren't listening or reading. A table of 4 can enjoy tasting 8 to 12 dishes, which is a great way to enjoy a meal. I guess the important thing now is for the menu to be regularly refreshed in order that the choice remains varied. I've enjoyed lunch, dinner and a Sunday lunch here and would recommend them all.

Nice food, however the menu is misleading in that you are advised to have 2-3 tapas dishes rather than each option being a main. This makes the meal expensive as the tapas dishes are around what you would expect to pay for a main dish.

A last minute decision to go for lunch with my dad who is in his 90’s. We will be returning. As I mentioned, my dad is in his 90’s and for the first time in a very long time he felt included in the conversation when ordering food and drinks as the staff lowered themselves to his eye level so he could hear and understand what they were saying. Absolutely first class service and I just want to say how much we valued this attention. The food was fabulous and cooked to perfection. I have recommended your establishment to so many family and friends today. Thank you.

Excellent Sunday Lunch! We had pork and Beef larger and smaller size. All were excellent. Succulent meat, beautifully carved and excellent crackling! Potatoes and vegetables all faultless- five veg including cauliflower cheese. Great value for money too. Drinks nice and cold. Excellent staff. Hit some balls on the range afterwards- perfect Sunday! Had a few times, very consistently good. The veggie burger as a whole was tasty but the 'meat' was a bit supbar - dry, unpleasant texture, unfortunately common with veggie meat. The chips also have a tendency to be too salty, including the children's chips, which is disappointing. Otherwise, great speedy service and always updating menu.
