Amazing service and amazing food! Really impressed with the whole menu. We loved the chips, fish and curry sauce! Strongly recommend!

So disappointed 😞 all greasy batter the morsel of fish hiding inside was dry and hard the chips were Luke warm and very greasy will not be returning .

We went on a Friday night whilst staying down with friends for the weekend from the midlands. Best fish and chips I have had for a long time. Excellent value and really tasty and prompt and friendly service!

Absolutely shocked. This is supposed to be the best fish and chip shop around. Would like to know why they can’t fry the fish fresh to order? The fish itself is obviously of quality but the poor thing has been completely ruined. Batter was too thick and had sat under a heat lamp long enough that it had become soggy and oily. Chips could have been cooked longer. When we called they said they weren’t busy but they had food ready. Should have known better than to eat here knowing this. Thank god you can’t mess up a savaloy!

We had our fortnightly treat of fish and chips from Tony’s but were very disappointed. The cod was not cod. It was 2 pieces sandwiched together then cooked in batter. The fish was largely brown and not the tasty cod we usually have. The chips were very nice probably the best we’ve had. Unfortunately I spent most of the night with diarrhoea. I don’t believe the fish was off but maybe it was a different oil. I have never been that ill after a meal before. Sorry Tony’s been customers for 24 years but no more. Very disappointed

This is a take-away restaurant. Undoubtedy the best fish and chips I have eaten in England. Large portions and fast service. Highly recommended!

The staff were friendly and the service was fairly swift but on recieving our fish & chips we were sadly disappointed. The portions were descent size, the cod was chunky in a crispy batter but the chips were soggy & greasy and not very pleasant - we actually binned most of them ☹️ I wouldn't return.

Chips were soggy & over cooked, fish batter was burnt. Kids boxes were generous with crayons & activity book however food was only fit for The bin

Lunchtime, Fish was almost all soggy batter, not much fish, chips were very soggy and really only fit for the bin, eaten from here many times in the past- whats gone wrong? Yikes!

We had fish and chips for lunch and they were honestly the best we have ever tasted. The batter was crisp and the fish was lovley and flakey. It came in a biodegradable box which is brilliant and the staff were ever so friendly!

We have just moved to Somerton, and are slowly working our way through all the takeaways to see what is on offer. This was by far the nicest fish and chip supper we have had for a long while. The fish was thick and meaty and the batter crisp and not mushy inside. The chips were also very nice, not soggy or stuck together like some. And the price was very reasonable.

Got a portion a fish and chips for lunch yesterday and ended up putting in the food waste bin. Fish was in batter dripping with oil and dry inside and chips soggyandvery greasy. I would not recommend food fro.this place.

We had fish and chips tonight, it was meant to be a treat but I have rarely been so disappointed. The chips were fine but what I received as a regular fish was disgraceful, a handful of slivers of fish bound together by batter. There would have been more fish in a fish finger. My partner’s fish was ok but nothing special. Our first and definitely our last visit to Tony’s, so very very let down.

Tony's did not disappoint. Great traditional British Fish & Chips. Generous portions too. Shop looked spotlessly clean and fast friendly service.

I dropped in this evening. Excellent fish & chips. Staff are polite, the premises are really well kept and the food is just what you want from a local fish and chip shop. Tasty, well cooked, hot and fresh. Streets ahead of fast food chain restaurants. Recommended.

Always good fish and chips freshly cooked and still warm by the time we travel home 10 minutes away. Added a yummy sausage roll this week.

Just Simply the Best, perhaps the Best in the West ….why bother with the rest,? When Take-away meals are required, myself, my friends & relatives, will regularly drive the 13 mile round trip to Tony's Fish & Chips in Somerton, to happily avoid The Chippie and whats on offer in Martock. At Tony's, food all cooked to order , with a shout out for specials from the door. Always popular so sometimes queues out the doorbut well worth the wait !Fish & Chips mighty Fine ..... Sooo Lip Smacking GooooD!

Pleasant people, highly recommended. Turn up, order your fish from the doorway and by the time the queue is served, your fish will be ready to drive home with!

Visited Friday lunch time and found traditional Fish and chip shop offering a takeaway service, The fish and chips were the best i've had in the area and will certainly be visiting again.Excellent service and nice relaxed atmosphere in the restaurant.Date of visit: October 2019. Great chippy with great food and at a great price to, one of the best in the south , friendly staff and you don't have to wait long either. Highly recommend.

We were visiting the area for a few days , and looked for somewhere for decent fish & chips. The reviews for this place were good. They were probably the worst fish & chips we ever had ... the fish wasnt very fresh , the batter was awful , and the chips were soggy and extremely greasy. . Felt really disappointed. Wouldn't visit again.

Brilliant fish and chips, cooked perfectly.Good size portions at a good price. Very friendly staff, service was extremely well organised,well presented clean premises and a five star food hygiene rating. We visited this shop a few times while on holiday - ooh - if only we lived a nearer to this super little chippy!

Have visited Tony’s several times now and have never had a bad meal. Best fish and chips in Somerton. If you want a fresh fish best order on arrival and it’s cooked to order. You can phone order through but won’t be cooked till you arrive.

Fish chips & mushy peas ! Fish was very good but chips were a little dry & scrappy . Large portions decent service.

We eat here once a month. The cod is thick and tasty with the batter and chips really nice. People travel from afar to enjoy the fish and chips here and rightly so. Curry sauce and mushy peas as well.

I have recently moved to Somerton and this is one of the highlights of a great town. Great food served efficiently with a smile and a good price. Excellent.

Moving from Lancashire to Somerset in the 1980s I was desperate to find a good Fish and Chip shop - fortunately I didn't have to look far - Tony's in Somerton was just down the road for me and proved to be a great reminder of good old Northern Fish and Chips. Sadly it didn't offer Steak and Kidney puddings (and never has since) but its a small price to pay. My Northern Parents also gave it their seal of approval so it must be good!!! I have been there many times in the last 30+ years and it is always good - generous portions - good value.

We went there tonight normally very good but not tonight. They got our order wrong and the fish and chips were the worst we have ever had . The chips were soggy and horrible. The fish was just batter . Very disappointed and certainly will not be going back .

I visit Tony’s about once a month it’s always very busy but the staff sort everything quickly with no mucking about, and of course the fish and chips are great

Best by far., travel 11 miles every 2/3 weeks and worth the time and distance, never disappointed., the ques at the door says it all.

Popped here as we’re on holiday locally and the we were really impressed with the quality and amount you get with the kids box meals!

shop is always busy.. been going to tonys over 20 years .. always good meal , so friendly ...... even when lived in wrantage used to travel to Somerton as so good......keep up the good work tony

This Fish and Chip shop is normally very busy and you have to wait for 5 mins before you can walk out of the shop. So why would people regularly? The reason is the friendly helpful staff and the well cooked food. The batter is very crisp, while the fish is nice and moist.

Tonys Fish and Chip shop is the best one in the area. The qualty of the fish is brilliant and the chip portions are generous and taste excellent.

Have used Tony’s since moving to the area 19 years ago & never in that time have we had a bad takeaway experience - always top notch & worth every penny !

Tony’s is one of the best. It’s such a shame to be moving out of the area, because I’d take the chip shop with me if I could!! I have never had a bad word to say about Tony’s-the fish is always delicious, the chips are fresh, and the mushy peas top everything off superbly!

Tony's Fish and Chips are excellent! The chips are never soft and soggy and the fish is never dry and over cooked with very good crisp batter.

We go to Tony’s every Friday as our family treat, its always busy but the queues move at a good speed which is testament to the organisation.

We only went to Tony's, because our local chip shop was closed for holidays.

Fish & chips yummy! THis is the most amazing Fish & Chips I've ever had. They evoked memories of a long lost time and tasted great. Great value for money, incredibly friendly and simply delicious.

Fresh and tasty with plenty of variety on the menu. Freshly cooked so you need to order certain items when you enter. Reasonably good value and worth a visit. Also accommodating if big orders required in with advance notice. Friendly staff.

Stopped in for a Friday night treat and so pleased we tried this fish and chip shop just up the road in Somerton from where we live in Langport. You could tell it was going to be good, as it was mega busy, but the wait was worth it. The fish was fresh and delicious and the chips tasty and cooked to perfection. Unlike some fish and chips I could think of, this one you could tell was cooked just right as it was still piping hot when we got home and not swimming in fat like some! Delicious!!

In my opinion one of the best fish and chip shops in Somerset. Tony's offers a wide range of options and even offers coeliac fish cooked in a rice flour batter. Fantastic sized portions, great service and reasonably priced. I would highly recommend.

Have been getting fish an chips from Tony for many years, on and off. Visited this week and had plaice and chips on this occasion, very nice. Everything basically cooked to order so remember to ask when you arrive. Probably the best chippy in the area.

Best fish and chips in Somerset. Period. They cook in ground nut oil and is regularly changed.. the staff are good only downside is it does get very busy between opening and 1930... but there's a good reason for that and well worth the wait!

Good choice of menu served quickly by very friendly staff - No seating area as it's a takeaway, Special requirements eg Plaice are cooked to order so a short wait needed. I am a regular customer !

This a proper chip shop, just as I remember them as a kid in the 60's and 70's and I've tried many more since then.They use real potatoes, not like some establishments I've been in. The foods always fresh and hot, there's plenty of choice and they are only too happy to take phone ins to speed the process. What's not to like.

Recently just moved to the area and my friend and I had a craving for fish and chips. The queue was nearly out of the door when we arrived (sat night) but moved very quickly. Service was organised and efficient. The chips were freshly cooked while we waited. The batter on the fish was light and crispy. Great quality fish! Will definitely be back very soon. Just trying not to eat fish and chips now every week!

Tony, I presume was the front of house / fryers name he was a larger than life character very engaging on both visits in February, fish and chips were fantastic, looking forward to Wednesday lunch time when we return.

Tonys has been around for years - the quality of all his produce is really very good. It is extremely busy on a Friday night - you will have a long wait - this is the only down point.

Really good fish and chips. We pick up fish and chips here on a Saturday evening at least once a month. Worth the short wait while it is cooked fresh.

Been using Tony's now for over 22 years & can quite honestly say that the quality of the food is fantastic. Staff are friendly, polite as are Tony & Des. The free banter with them is always welcome too. Great stuff.

we always have fish and chips from here and they are fantastic but after a few weeks break we went and got more fish and chips and they just weren't the same dont know why but didn't enjoy them at all very disappointed to say the least.

Although we have cut down on our food intake . The last time we experienced fish & chips from Tonys, they were lovely & plenty of them.

The fish and chips were great but the vegetarian pancake rolls are very average. Stick to the fish and chips and you won't go wrong.

We had fish and chips on Friday 16th September 2016. They were cooked to perfection and we were given a really good quantity. Plenty of wrapping ensured the meal was still lovely and warm when we got home.

Staff are always friendly & you can always count on getting friendly chat and banter from Tony & Des. Been using this chip shop for 22 years and never been disappointed. Food is always freshly cooked & top marks for taste.

I used to live near here 10 yrs ago and this was my local chippy. Always had the beef curry and chips and loved it ! I was in Somerton with my family and decided to see if it was still the same ! And it didn't disappoint! We had a lovely curry and chips and our daughter had the chicken burger which she loved . Fantastic service with friendly staff! Couldn't fault it ! We live 17 miles away but wouldn't hesitate to come back anytime ! Thank you !

I used this when we first moved here and cannot fault the food. However my daughter and wife on separate occasions both joined the queue only to have regulars jump the queue. These were not people who had phoned in prior to arriving. They rudely barged in shouted their order and were served first. As they are both fairly quiet types I went next time and received exactly the same treatment. So they have lost the custom of this large family. Disgusting way to treat customers!!

Always good quality and friendly service, the amounts of fish cooked is not excessive thus avoiding it laying in oil in a heating cupboard awaiting purchase but this also leads to some delays in order but this is acceptable.

Good fish and chips freshly cooked, good portions, good service but you may queue a bit. That's because its fresh! You need to ask for anything slightly unusual as you enter eg scampi so it can be cooked.

As I live and grew up locally, me and my family have been coming here for years to get our fish and chips! You are pretty much always guranteed a queue, although I personally think that's a very good sign! The food is guaranteed to be spot on every time, absolutely brilliantly cooked, not greasy at all and very fair portion sizes!Although you do notice when Tony himself is in as he always makes a point to say hello and goodbye, would be good if all the other staff could do the same as him!Highly reccomended!

Say goodbye to the diet because you won't want to leave any. Very generous portions of fish and chips. Superbly cooked, not greasy at all and the chips are a nice crisp, golden brown. Good mushy peas too. Make sure you're ready for a wait as there is always a queue, which proves how good it is. You can always telephone your order through if you want.
