The best restaurants in North Dorset South West

Very disappointed, we knew it closed at 4 pm we were held up in traffic also three way traffic lights outside the restaurant but arrived at 3.45, then just to be told they had closed, we asked if they could possibly make us tea the young girl was gone for a good while then came back and said no, why does it say 4 pm close ? She said we could get a takeaway in the shop perfect we thought again just to be told they had turned and cleaned the machine, most unfriendly unhelpful staff, we will not make the trip out again. Can’t comment on the food as we couldn’t get any. Bring back some proper old fashion service please.

Ordered a couple of pizzas. Probably the most expensive pizza in Dorset - the GF option being £19.50. One of said pizzas was burnt underneath and inedible. Raised it with the staff who said "Yeah I can see it's burnt, sorry." but no offer of discount etc. Other food was good and otherwise service was decent.

Faultless lunch. Good friendly service, we were looked after all the way. Easy free parking (register at the bar on arrival). We ate inside but lots of people outside on a lovely sunny day, spacious area.

This is the best Chinese food I've had in a long time well I can't remember a better one than this I have had two takeaway meals 1 last Wednesday and today this Wednesday 7th Of May 2025 I can't fault one of the mIeals we got pineapple rice was amazing chicken balls was the best ever Salt & Pepper ribs was the best ever can't wait until we go again well worth the 26 min (16.9 mi) drive from my home to Blandford Forum. Then back home so a 52 minutes driving & 33.8 mile drive, and thanks to all the staff front of house and chefs that made our experience an amazing one thanks again

Visiting the town for a day and wanted a picnic lunch. Had a Wiltshire ham sandwich and a chocolate and hazelnut brownie. All very tasty prepared with quality ingredients. Highly recommended.

Chips were the worst we've ever eaten. Obviously warmed up several times. Fish cake was OK apparently.

Excellent value unpretentious pub food, with very friendly service. Old fashioned pub interior that has not been chichi-ed up.

Six of us had lunch here. The food was good but they struggled to cope with a group of six people; three of us got our food promptly, then there was a long wait before two more were served, and the last poor soul had to wait even longer for his toastie while people who had come in and ordered after us got theirs. We didn't expect all six orders to arrive at the same time, but for one person not to be fed till some of their companions had long finished their food wasn't good. When the food did arrive it was tasty, hot and filling so we were happy with that. Best to come here in smaller numbers, methinks.

What a treasure! Everything is beautifully presented and that is undoubtedly the best breakfast bap I have ever had. Great coffee - served hot - and excellent service. Everything about the Filling Station in Gillingham is beautifully presented. I'll be back!

We were so pleased to discover this eatery. The service was so welcoming and the food was outstanding. All home cooked. The Steak and ale pie was the best my wife has tasted. The Katsu curry was absolutely delicious. Many thanks

Nice pub. Nice staff. But shame some customers think it's OK to vape at the bar.. has put me off. Havnt stayed si cant comment on rooms.

This is our go to fish and chips. Unfortunately like all fish and chips it's getting pretty expensive and for me, my wife and child it's now the same price to get a takeaway here as it is to get dominos.... Which isn't great. Not their fault I guess but the fish seems to be getting ever smaller too.

Great place let down by pidgeon poo even on outdoor tables scruffy place.

We used this shop twice during our stay in town and the service on both occasions was excellent. Excellent tea and coffee with a choice of roasts. A credit to this small town.
