The Udder Farm Coffee Shop in North Dorset

This was our second visit. Very poor service and restricted menu. Only came to ask for drinks order then, had to ask for someone to serve us. Not given teaspoons with our drinks. Other people who came in after us got served before us. Staff very disinterested and disorganised. I appreciate it was busy but, that is no excuse as there were lots of staff. When the food eventually arrived it was good. We were in the restaurant for 2 hours! Won't be visiting again.

Started with lunch. Delicious beef and horseradish sandwich but truly lousy chips ( soggy just warm but they were replaced with another bowl which weren’t much better). Really tasty Brie bacon and cranberry panini. On to the shop. Wide choice which we are yet to try but the home made chicken leek and ham was a disaster. So much pastry there was hardly room for any chicken let alone ham or leek. Quite horrible. But….what a lovely bunch of folk working there which makes complaining all the more difficult.

I highly recommend this place! The staff, service, and food were all exceptional. Jess, in particular, was incredibly welcoming and attentive, making the experience feel like dining in a high-end restaurant. We will definitely be visiting again soon!

Such a shame that the menu is now less than inspiring! Menu changes have made the selection very limited to what they used to offer. The quality of the food now is questionable. I used to never be able to fault the udder and never had a bad meal. Over the last year it has taken a serious decline in food choice and quality. Which is Such a shame,After today’s lunch experience both my friends and myself expressed we will not be returning!

Drove 20 minutes out of our way to enjoy the highly rated breakfast. Upon arriving were told that they had closed the kitchen early (on a Saturday morning!) because of a "private function". We could stay for coffee and cake but when you are looking forward to a full English breakfast this is borderline insulting. Staff not particularly bothered. Would not attempt to come here again.

From ordering to receiving food was a whopping hour!! No one came and apologised or warned us. Deserts then took 20 minutes to arrive(all cold so no reason to take so long) The mains were on the whole delicious but a naan was inedible. The lemon tart was not good at all, pastry was rock hard and way too thick and filling was minimal. Considering that you aren’t even allowed in the garden with a dog on a lead and are relegated to a fenced off area by the car wash I was very angry to see that a dog had been allowed in the restaurant and was sat at a table by the bar in full view of all the staff. I would have taken our own dog if I had known!!

Only ever shopped here before Decided to break our journey on way home from Bournemouth Pot of tea for two, my wife had a panini & me a prawn sandwich Very nicely presented Well served by young team who seemed to be enjoying their jobs Will certainly visit here again soon

Went to the so called Caribbean night. A huge disappointment. No effort at all. Simply a meal with a Caribbean theme. Come on guys, some suitable music, table decorations, staff wearing a flower garland, anything!!!!! No atmosphere, very poor!

Lovely food and great service, we had a breakfast nap, eggs on toast and pancakes. We loved it so much we came twice during our stay. The restaurant is the stand out thing here, farm shop is nice. The team on our first visit gave us a recommendation for a local farm near by too for our children which they loved. See my review on that. Huge shout out once again to Chloe, really friendly and engaging, thanks for a lovely experience.

Family meal out for first time on a Friday evening for a long time. The staff are so friendly and food fantastic. I highly recommend the Udder Farm Shop Cafe and restaurant.

A friend highly recommended eating in the restaurant so I drive an hour and a half and booked a table for a treat. It took 45 minutes from order to lunch arriving and we were not warned of the wait. We asked a waitress to find out how much longer our order was going to be abd she disappeared then just stood outside the kitchen without reporting back. I had to go and ask her again. The response was another 15 minutes but when I got back to the table, the food arrived. She clearly didn’t check in the kitchen and just made up a random time when i went back to find her. The food was good when it came but by then we were in a bad mood and very disappointed with the service so the anticipation of a great meal fell very flat and we don’t feel like returning

Burnt broccoli, Apparently roasted, cremated is not roasted..I asked for a replacement along with my guests, only I got some, still burnt but sprayed with water ..... I asked if the chef is aware people aren't eating it and the waitress says he doesn't see the returns... well he should be made aware.... I go here regularly and this is the worst meal ever.

Lovely welcoming atmosphere with beautiful garden , great outside and inside dining , breakfast pancakes very good although the berry pancakes a little dry with only topping and nothing inside the four , will definitely visit again for lunch .

Long wait for waitress to take order - had to beckon one over eventually as did the table next to us, lots of youngsters clearing tables & resetting them but seemed only two waitresses taking orders but talking to each other instead. Food was very good but came 1/2 an hour after ordering. Farm shop seemed good but didn’t have time to look around as delay in restaurant meant we’d have been late in arriving at our next scheduled stop.

We visited the farm shop and purchased some items. We asked the gentleman on the till if there were any toilets that we could use. He said there were but it was awkward having to walk past the bar and the diners and that everybody would look at us! My daughter was of the opinion we would go and find somewhere else to stop as we were between viewing houses. I was appalled that somebody would make you feel so embarrassed about using their facilities especially after purchasing items from their shop. I will never be stopping to purchase any items again nor will I be stopping to dine there. People should never be made to feel “embarrassed” about needing to ask to use the facilities!

So unwelcoming to dogs. Most cafes allow dogs these days, this place doesn't even let you sit on the patio outside the cafe with your dog. Instead you are put in the corner of a muddy rough field, fenced in, next to the noisy car wash. Segregated like 2nd class citizens. Won't be back.

Lovely food, always very busy. Staff do not always seem that happy but are generally helpful, themed nights are great but quite expensive. Great gluten free options and check out the freezers as offering great food .

Excellent coffee shop and restaurant. A plus point is that no dogs allowed in the restaurant, which pleases us no end as badly behaved owners have no right to be in a nice reztaurant. A caveat is that it can be difficult to park at busy times.

Average. Average. Average. Nothing more, nothing less. I had booked a week previously as it was a very special meet up with members of my family I had not seen for many years and the views are wonderful from the window tables. So I went in a week earlier and booked a window table as it was a special occasion. When we arrived I was told that a window table was not available. That is all I have to say.

Had the most delicious lunch ,vegetables cooked beautifully ,duck confit perfect ,service friendly and helpful Shop very interesting . One of our party is coeliac and therefore gf, looked after so well!

Have been several times before, but visited with a friend yesterday for brunch and was not disappointed. I had the eggs benedict which was cooked to perfection and my friend had the Udder full breakfast which she said was delicious. The waitress was polite and 'smiley'. The only reason I didn't give full marks was the furnishing is beginning to look a little tired - there were several scratches and marks on our table so perhaps it's time some of them were replaced.

In a part of the world where coffee stops are few and far between this was a welcome break on my way cross country to Bristol Airport. The cafe/ restaurant attached to a farm shop is big, cold and a bit soulless but the coffee was good and there was a pleasant view across the Dorset countryside

In terms of decor, menu, service and food, this was very disappointing. Bland, tacky and tasteless. The quality and presentation of the adjacent farm shop is on a far superior level level, something’s gone wrong with this approach to a farm shop restaurant. No better than a motorway service station restaurant.

Tables and under tables not clean. Toilets not clean and no paper in some cubicles. Two members of staff just stood chatting by entrance when there's plenty they could be doing, eg cleaning or serving us. Basically if your wanting to charge top dollar for food etc then at least give some service.

We ordered Smashed Avocado on Toast for brunch, have had before and very enjoyable but this time the ciabatta had been heavily buttered (spread) with the avocado on top! We have never had this anywhere before, drizzle the ciabatta in olive oil then Avocado but not spread! Staff always lovely though, would return but just make a different menu choice.

We booked a table for the Chinese New Year night. We were so looking forward to it and we were so disappointed. Cold, tasteless food. It was just awful. We did complain but just got a " sorry" The waiting staff were good. We live locally and we won't be returning.
