We used this shop twice during our stay in town and the service on both occasions was excellent. Excellent tea and coffee with a choice of roasts. A credit to this small town.

Busy and unpretentious coffee shop on the Main Street. Staff were working hard on our visit, but they were pleasant and ready to assist. They provide biscuits for dogs (which are welcome inside) and will give you bags of coffee grounds for free for your garden. Great place - will definitely be back!

I love Coffee#1, and this is a regular stop on our trips from Poole to South Wales. I usually have a bacon bap, and decaf latte to go. However, on this particular Sunday there were no bacon or sausage baps in store ( perhaps because a nearby rival coffee shop was closed for refurbishment? ), and my latte was nowhere near full. Very disappointed on this occasion.

Hi All, Popped in today for a coffee and was delighted (X10) to be served by Camilla, haven't seen her before but what a very nice person she is. She took the time to engage in conversation while providing quick efficient service, polite and friendly. Really made my day. She is a breath of fresh air in that establishment.

Had to have pur drinks in cardboard cups because apparently they didn't have any proper cups. Despite them continuing to unload the dishwasher of fresh clean cups. Apparently, because they were closing soon, they needed to stop using porcelain cups. We ordered at 16:50 and they close at 18:00. Looking at the mess on the floor, they couldn't be bothered to clean up up there either. Neither member of staff apologised or showed any interest in a good customer experience. Coffee tasted like it had come from a garage vending machine too.

We visit here quite often, as we are local to the area and I haven’t ever been disappointed. But we visited this week, myself and my two children for a drink and lunch. The lady who served us was very grumpy, very rude and also gave me the wrong food but walked off after throwing it on the table before I had chance to explain to her. It’s definitely put me off returning and ruined our visited with two unhappy children after being given the wrong food.

From an annoyed local. I ordered 2 Large take away Deluxe Hot Chocolates. Paid for them. Was then informed there were no Marshmallows in stock. The Lady who served me seemed pretty casual about it. Didn’t offer anything else, Eg. Maybe some sprinkles, flake or flavour shot or something??! She did apologise but it didn’t seem very genuine. When I questioned why could you not have told me that before I paid, she replied with she ‘has only just seen’. Now I don’t believe this as she told me straight after I paid and was not at the stage of putting them on the drink at the end! I asked for a refund of the difference in cost between a normal hot choc and a deluxe as the deluxe said on the menu that you get whipped cream and the Marshmallows. She said no, and I have to wait for the man to come back from the office! Whatever that meant! And she said she doesn’t charge for the cream on the normal anyway… which kind of rubbed salt in the wound more!! I went away with two normal hot chocolates which I paid more for and also had half the cream scraped off in front of me as she couldn’t fit the lids on for take away!! When presented I wiped the spilling cream over the sides, off myself (small cup for a large as well) Absolute joke, plenty of other places to buy a hot chocolate and I will never purchase in here again.

There's a peculiar approach by Brits to service. Was the standard set by people's experience of dinner ladies in the 70's? I stress I've nothing against the legions of well meaning people who served but Victoria Wood was on to something! This establishment feels like they're not trying. A brusque welcome followed by watery coffee and stodgy pastries. If this café had competition they'd be failing or closed. They're not actively bad and that's the frustration. This kind of half-baked approach to service seems OK in rural England. In the cities they'd starve or improve. Here, they exist despite offering a welcome and produce that simply helps you to have a slightly less good day than when you went in. It. should, not. be. this. way. Don't reward people not trying. Go elsewhere.

Very poor and barking orders at an 86 year old frail man. Also saw me check in re covid but the woman was abrupt with me also. Didn't take cash . Staff need to be trained by this company. Unable to say how the coffee was also the food. Sorry one star for rudeness and no cash taking. Would I recommend...not today thank you. Would I go again.... no not until staff are trained. My mother who is 94 and with us also was confused in this shop. When we said what had happened... anyway we had a nice drink and eat elsewhere...

A tea stop en route to Exeter and having experienced this chain elsewhere expected the same standard. The Earl Grey tea was weak, despite being served in an individual tea pot and it was loose tea. My sausage bap was tasteless and required lots of brown sauce. My wife’s bacon in a bap was not a crispy. Disappointing.

Recently opened. Very slow service but charming staff. A long queue built up quickly. Too many chairs and small tables of different heights, with wood-look tops, give a cluttered look, not very relaxing. Was hoping this new branch would be similar to that in Warminster, which is my favourite coffee shop in that town, and has a better feel. The coffee was delicious as was the breakfast burrito. Sunday roast was good ie.good selection of vegetables (blue cabbage and cauliflower were tasty, vegetables were not overcooked), generous portions of meat (I had beef which was a bit overcooked for me but it’s just me being a bit picky about beef. It was seasoned very well).Really enjoyed sticky toffee pudding. Good value for money - there was 2for1 deal for Sunday roast. Friendly and helpful service. Nice atmosphere and decor. On our journey home from an overnight-stay in Bournemouth we decided to take a minor roads route back home rather than the direct main road route. This took us through quite a few small towns and villages. Our plan was to find a Farm Shop Café or a village / small town-centre café where we could get lunch: ideally a snack and a hot drink. We were over an hour into our journey when we saw the signs for Marcia’s Farm Shop and turned into what was a heavily pot-holed carpark. We then walked into the signposted barn noting that there was plenty of tables and chairs arranged in neat rows but no-one was sat there. There was another door into ‘The Shack’; inside was actually a full bar; like you would find in a pub. There were a few locals propping-up the bar, chatting and drinking draught beer. This is not what we had expected and we assumed that the ‘Marcia’s Farm Shop’ and ‘The Shack’ were one in the same business. There didn’t appear to be any farm produce on sale: other than, we assumed, the food offered in the menu. It was almost exactly 1pm when we were approached and welcomed by a pleasant lady. We asked about food, and she advised us to select a table and choose from the menu of snacks that were available, and that she would return to take our order. We studied the menu having ordered some tea and my Partner chose a fishfinger baguette, whereas I chose a toasted ham and cheese sourdough sandwich. The plates took a good 20-25 minutes to arrive from ordering, but freshly prepared food does take time. So, we sipped tea and amused ourselves with the help of a large (probably over-fed and under-exercised) old Labrador who constantly wandered and sniffed around the bar and seated areas. The dog then settled at our table once our food order arrived. This was not a serious issue for us (others however may dislike being ‘hounded’ by slobbering dogs while they eat their food). Both plates featured a colourful and tasty fresh dressed salad which was really good. My sandwich was really firm and crunchy with a generous helping of thick-cut ham and plenty of well-melted cheese, and a small portion of red cabbage coleslaw to go with the salad. It was really good and enjoyed. My Partner’s baguette featured homemade cod loin fishfingers and tartare sauce (both inside the baguette). The fish was a bit moist and insubstantial; despite being made from the loin. Cod can be like this and it is why we prefer the meatier haddock. The baguette also accompanied by a few crisps, but they were a really strange flavour for accompanying fish (reminded us of Oxo beef - but very artificial). Our food was on the whole good, generously portioned and very much welcomed, and it was good value.
