The food was okay, small portions for the price. We had burgers, which were bland, orzo dish considered boring and not much to it and I had the pork dish which was tasty but not enough veg. We were starving and it only took the edge off. Nice pub though and service very good. We didn't try the pizza's, maybe that's where we missed out

Sunday lunch 6th April 25. The tiny amount of veg we had, was like puree. I ordered the Porchetta, it wasn't Porchetta, it was belly pork rolled. Porchetta, consists of the loin and belly, butterflied, stuffed then rolled and roasted. My husband and friends said that the beef was okay, just not enough of it considering the price. Desert, apple and rhubarb crumble wasn't pleasant so it was left. All in all not a good experience. The staff however, were very nice and welcoming.

So excited to visit as we waited in anticipation for it to open. Having visited on Mother’s Day we booked a table for four. So disappointed the plating up created a sense of plentiful food on the plate, this wasn’t the case, very little vegetables a spoon full at most, a big Yorkshire pudding not much meat, we weren’t asked if we wanted extra as per menu, to her credit our waitress listened to what I had to say and thanked me. So the bill £214 for 4 people, small plate of food Rubbarb and custard was not fresh puréed so couldn’t finish it, sadly with so many eating houses fighting for customers the Kings Arms will struggle. Advice don’t hide what’s on the plate let the customer decide if there is enough food on the plate and value for money. Would we visit again knowing we spend a lot of money each month eating out, probably not, potentially £2000 per year will be going elsewhere where.

Never been in this pub before but went in there for my christmas do(february), the food was delious & i don't like pepperoni but the pizza was 12/10 with the honey on it, the backroom(guessing its called that) was warm & cosy with plenty of seating in there. I would 100% come again. Staff are friendly & helpful but cant remember who served the food.

A really lovely pub, good example of one of the Chickpea Group! We went on an early Tuesday evening and they served us food a little bit early even though they weren't serving food until 6pm. We love a Nole pizza anyway but this really was top notch and the fries!! Look at the photo, I don't need to say more than that! Lovely staff, lovely pub, would definitely recommend and return.

Been a few times for a quick drink and they're super friendly and great service Went for a meal on Thursday and it was excellent! I had fish with a tomato based sauce - the visual appeal was "wow", the flavour was subtle and sublime. Husband had veal liver and says he's never had better. Clean plates all round. Again, service was excellent. Little bit more expensive but well worth it, in my opinion

We went this evening for food and drinks for my mums birthday and it didn’t disappoint. It’s got such a warm, cosy and welcoming atmosphere. The decor is lovely and it’s such a contrast to how it used to be. The food was superb, I had the pork loin which was lovely and the pies were huge! It’s going to be our special occasion spot going forward.

I took four friends here on a Saturday evening as we have enjoyed the other chickpea pubs. Unfortunately the king arms was a disaster from start to finish. Firstly we couldn't get our correct table after waiting 30mins for the our table so had to settle with a inadequate sized table for our size party. Food came and we had 1 drink left between our party and it was very obvious that we might like another drink but after the waitress came to the table 3 more times there was no offer or would you like another drink at least the bar man eventually saw and realized. Unfortunately it's mostly badger beer on the draught which is pretty awful. The food was very poor and the steaks two friends didn't eat as they were such low quality and poorly cooked. The waitress packed the table away and no questions on why the steaks didn't get eaten. So finally we had to complain to the manager who couldn't givr two tosses about our food and experience and was offering no discounts or apologies drinks/deserts etc bearing in mind eg the steak was 26 pound so on the mid-high end. Overall a super poor experience and none of us would recommend or re visit. A real shame for the chickpea group as I've enjoyed their other pubs a number of times. I think this pub has been rushed especially the decor you may have well be in the old king arms and most of the staff are poorly trained. It felt like an over priced whetherspoons.

Was looking for a meet up spot with family for catch up after Xmas for x6 people and came here but it was sadly very unwelcoming, the girl serving us was clearly not in a good mood and didn’t want to be there, we asked if we could have food to a man there and said we stop food in 5mins (14:30pm) so rushed to order and the girl refused us anyway, place was very freezing (wish they put a fire on), the floor was very sticky as we walked over it and hot drinks were poor. Well served by the lovely bar lady . A smile on her face all the time and could not of been more helpful . If you’re looking to eat in town then I can recommend the kings any time . Went for a roast dinner and it sounded amazing but went it arrived it was absolutely shocking, was not freshly cooked and not even cooked properly, felt microwaved. The new management have turned this place around from what was a drinking den full of all the grief that can attract, to an airy, well presented, spacious and clean pub serving great food. A friendly welcome awaits well behaved patrons and the atmosphere is friendly and hospitable. We were not rushed and were served a most delicious home made burger stuffed with Stilton. It was lush!! I would recommend a stop off next time you are in Shaftesbury. I would think it better to book ahead if you are taking a large party like a coach, as the meals are prepared and cooked to order. There is ample cheap parking adjacent to the pub. The machines weren’t accepting cards so cash was required. All in all a great experience and a full belly. On our journey home from an overnight-stay in Bournemouth we decided to take a minor roads route back home rather than the direct main road route. This took us through quite a few small towns and villages. Our plan was to find a Farm Shop Café or a village / small town-centre café where we could get lunch: ideally a snack and a hot drink. We were over an hour into our journey when we saw the signs for Marcia’s Farm Shop and turned into what was a heavily pot-holed carpark. We then walked into the signposted barn noting that there was plenty of tables and chairs arranged in neat rows but no-one was sat there. There was another door into ‘The Shack’; inside was actually a full bar; like you would find in a pub. There were a few locals propping-up the bar, chatting and drinking draught beer. This is not what we had expected and we assumed that the ‘Marcia’s Farm Shop’ and ‘The Shack’ were one in the same business. There didn’t appear to be any farm produce on sale: other than, we assumed, the food offered in the menu. It was almost exactly 1pm when we were approached and welcomed by a pleasant lady. We asked about food, and she advised us to select a table and choose from the menu of snacks that were available, and that she would return to take our order. We studied the menu having ordered some tea and my Partner chose a fishfinger baguette, whereas I chose a toasted ham and cheese sourdough sandwich. The plates took a good 20-25 minutes to arrive from ordering, but freshly prepared food does take time. So, we sipped tea and amused ourselves with the help of a large (probably over-fed and under-exercised) old Labrador who constantly wandered and sniffed around the bar and seated areas. The dog then settled at our table once our food order arrived. This was not a serious issue for us (others however may dislike being ‘hounded’ by slobbering dogs while they eat their food). Both plates featured a colourful and tasty fresh dressed salad which was really good. My sandwich was really firm and crunchy with a generous helping of thick-cut ham and plenty of well-melted cheese, and a small portion of red cabbage coleslaw to go with the salad. It was really good and enjoyed. My Partner’s baguette featured homemade cod loin fishfingers and tartare sauce (both inside the baguette). The fish was a bit moist and insubstantial; despite being made from the loin. Cod can be like this and it is why we prefer the meatier haddock. The baguette also accompanied by a few crisps, but they were a really strange flavour for accompanying fish (reminded us of Oxo beef - but very artificial). Our food was on the whole good, generously portioned and very much welcomed, and it was good value.

I'm a regular at this, my local Costa. Staff are excellent. The gal(Lauren) and the guys are friendly and professional - most importantly they know how to make lovely coffee. Problems - not because of the store's staff :- sometimes deliveries to the store are not in schedule 🤦leading to low stocks of cakes, sandwiches etc .... Some comments have noted *dirty tables* whatever. Sometimes the 2 on duty (occasionally even 1) can be overwhelmed for a few minutes with customers. However ask them to clear/clean your table and it will be done ASAP. Plus as soon as the short rush is over normal cleaning etc is done. The store and toilet ARE wheelchair (accessable).
