We used this shop twice during our stay in town and the service on both occasions was excellent. Excellent tea and coffee with a choice of roasts. A credit to this small town.

This is a "rare find" in my opinion, my son who lives in the area and I visited for a Sunday roast last weekend, it was a last minute booking but we had a very warm welcome from the staff. The food was VERY generous, delicious, well cooked and tasty. The pub source much of what is on the menu locally, supporting local producers and farmers in the county. The young serving staff were professional, courteous and friendly. Phil was a great host too. Well done team, and we will be back 😊

We stopped back on our way home from a day out and decided to pop in for dinner after seeing the pub on previous trips out. We were welcomed warmly and ordered dinks which arrived promptly. We ordered our food from there on things went down hill. I Ordered Spaghetti Bolognese which was very bland my mother ordered a Beef Curry which was very mild the meat was very tough and there were several lumps of gristle so the food was a big disappointment

We arrived at The Nelson and was greeted with a lovely smile, ordered 2 x beef roast dinners and 2 x Ringwood 49ers, meal arrived pretty soon, didn't have to wait long, talk about stunning meal, loads of beef, veg and potatoes, including their creamy leek and stuffing ball, everything was hot and delicious as usual, as this wasn't the first time, meals are excellent, well worth a visit.. five stars all round from our reservation in the name of Carol

I so wanted this to be a great experience - but it wasn’t. The building is modern and offers a good ambience. The staff were polite and generally attentive, the location and views are stunning. Things started badly when they had run out of jacket potatoes at 1pm on Wednesday. My wife therefore moved onto nachos with cheese and beans. I ordered the pulled beef in a bun - supposedly smoked for 13 hours. Like many other dishes it was left on the pass for far too long and was luke warm when it arrived. The meat was dry and a little tough. There was NO flavour of smoke on it at all. The chips were at least hot. My wife didn’t enjoy her nachos. Unfortunately she doesn’t get on with spice and the chilli flavour on it was too much for her. She would have been happy with a humble baked potato😢. We weren’t asked about the food until it was time to pay. The lady server was sympathetic and genuinely interested in our feedback. She did offer to call the manager over but we agreed for her to feed it back. I did suggest that if he was interested he could follow it up via my email which was used for the booking. She did remove the service charge which was a token gesture. I can see that there seems to be no response to other reviews so I won’t hold my breath on that one. I am willing to update my review should it happen. Such a shame.
