The best restaurants in North Dorset South West

Really dissapointed , food all pre cooked kept warm somewhere, poached eggs very hard, Avacado tasted strongly of lemon, food barely warm, tasteless waste of. Money . Not to the expected m&s standards won’t be visiting again 🥲

I visited here on a quiet Saturday, looking for a decent cup of coffee. The stench of old grease in the small ordering area was overwhelming (even with the front door open) and stayed on my clothes after I left. The staff member was extremely friendly and efficient (hence why it was 2 stars not 1). I ordered a flat white which was served to me in a 12 oz cup so clearly they don't understand what a flat white is. Poorly extracted espresso and milk not well textured. Maybe the food is better than the coffee, but I wouldn't have high hopes......

First time been to Stapleton for a few years. Three of us on business meeting. Really good meal and good service.

Really good quirky pub in Stourpaine. Excellent selection of dishes all cooked really well. Friendly staff and a great selection of drinks!

Great location but unfriendly staff who made us feel very unwelcome. Ordering a drink felt awkward and like too much trouble for the gentleman behind the bar. We visited last year with some friends and although the food was nice, we all noticed the same unfriendly atmosphere. It’s such a shame as it’s a wonderful location. Definitely wouldn’t recommend and will certainly not return.

This is our local Indian and it’s recently under new management. The food is lovely and great value for money however the service we received wasn’t great, especially when they add on a non-discretionary 12% service charge! Would I return? - yes for the food but would definitely challenge the service charge next time!

Bad Uber experience and the restaurant closed without cancelling my order

Three of us booked for a special family Sunday lunch, after many years absence. Food was excellent (beef & pork mixed sunday roast), with lovely tasting pork, stuffing, spuds and parsnips just as we liked them. The pub is excellent with plenty of people (& one lovely elderly Jack Russell) popping in for drinks in the sunshine. Staff were all great, knowledgable & very friendly, bringing drinks & gravy to the table. To be honest I did not want to leave.

Stayed here for two nights with my mum and sister. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left the team were so friendly and accommodating. Their attention to detail is second to none. Room clean and comfortable, nice selection of tea, coffee, biscuits, with both fresh milk and water in a fridge. Courtesy toiletries. Breakfast choice was great and of good quality. We ate there on our second night and the meals were amazing. The pub itself is great. Full of quirky features. Busy with locals who were super friendly. Highly recommended

Fantastic service until they called time at 10pm and apparently it was only regulars and locals drinking bottles or shorts.... Even though everything still went through the till 🤔 Maybe if you want a drink after 10pm nearest pub is the phoenix..

No food but snacks great owners aloud ur dogs in there very friendly local pub watch sports etc clean amd tidy always.

Tip - if being delivered you need to pay on arrival by PayPal or cash. I had to set up a PayPal account just for this purpose, transfer monies to it and then I couldn’t get the app to work to pay the driver. Strongly recommend a different payment system with just a card reader or pay when you order. However we were very pleased with phone. Very generous portions. The special mixed meat rice was a full meal in itself! Large chunks of meat and vegetables on top. Good service and quick delivery.

Went here for Sunday lunch with friends. Lovely food and great service. Two areas of complaint; the vegetarian option cost the same as the meat option, honestly, there’s no way a extra portion of vegetables cost as much as a portion of meat; secondly, smokers smoking just outside the rear door (including two members of staff), every time the door was opened their smoke blew into where we were sitting. H&S law says they should be at least 5m from an opening door/window.

Absolutely dreadful. Raw, stinking chicken and a terrible attitude. Yuk yuk totally avoid its disgusting and they don’t care
