The best restaurants in North Devon South West

We loved the grounds and museums, but the tea room was really not at all good. Apart from being a very uninspiring space with not much atmosphere, I waited in a queue for over half an hour while three people behind the counter deliberated over one transaction, as I waited I watched as very quickly most of the menu was struck off, so it was down to sandwiches or a bowl of chilli con carne. I managed to get the last two! There seems to be a complete dumbing down of all the NT restaurants, just serving mediocre food. Come on NT you can and should be doing better!!

Ruby, Glenn and Josh had outstanding service, we were a big group of 10 and they couldn't of been more attentive and made sure our order was completely correct before we set off in the cold wet weather to our caravan to enjoy our feast. They laughed at our rubbish jokes and engaged with the small humans in the group who enjoyed ordering confidently with them. Highly recommend will be back

Lovely local bar what I call an old traditional bar.Landlord and staff very friendly.Live music every Sunday.Nice bar to just chill out.

I had a nice egg and chips there,chips were good,I will return.I am local to the area and the food I have had there has always been good.

No wonderr the cafe looked empty when you have to pay to park then pay (£5) to have a cup of tea. Makes it very expensive. Seems to be the way these days of paying for parking even in remote locations. You have to wonder if they actual make enugh money to justify it.

We love Hang Loose bar & kitchen. Second holiday to Braunton this year and we have returned to Hang Loose time and time again, sometimes to have a bite to eat or just for a drink. The place has got a real vibe about it, seems to get pretty busy at weekends but that just adds to the atmosphere. Super dog friendly which is lovely for us as our two labradors always seem to feel very at home here with dog treats on the bar and lots of fuss. Food is tasty and different which keeps it interesting. I had the arancini special which was delicious. Great choice of gins too. They have a selection of board and card games which was fun and we played a game of Chess with our drinks which was great and was much more enjoyable than messing about on smartphones! We also enjoyed sitting outside on a Saturday evening in October enjoying the last of the summer warmth. We will be back!

Had a very enjoyable lunch outside looking at the spectacular views on anincredibly beautiful day. Annoyingly I left a bag behind on the back of my chair and the very helpful manager James was super efficient and kindly posted it to me. We will be back Many thanks

I am thrilled that you are getting back up and running. I've had so many relaxed and friendly hours in the cafe with friends that I am looking forward to more accompanied by a fab nut roast and side salads fit for a queen. Airy and plenty of space (unlike other cafes that cram as many in as they can) so it feels very Covid safe even without have to make big changes.

Dog & Pilot pub, which I presume is attached to the Hotel. Pub: 4* Atmosphere: 4* Service: 4.5* Popped in for a quick beer whilst on a day trip to Ilfracombe. Had a pint of GT Ales 'Pull the Udder one' Milk Stout. A very reasonable £3.60 a pint.

Amazing service and very dog friendly can highly recommend the lasagne it was the best I have had well done chef will defo be back before we go home

We had to wait 1 1/2 hours for our food. I've literally never known a fish and chips shop to take so long to serve a fast food. It was all cooked and ready just sitting there whilst the staff faffed around slowly. Packaging food adding stickers etc. They didnt look like they enjoyed the job they were doing, barely any interaction with customers, no apologies for the ridiculous delay. To top it off the lettuce in my daughters burger was off and soggy (see photo). I had to replace with fresh lettuce from home. We were also missing a fruit shoot drink which I'd paid for. Hard to understand how this could happen as i saw them checking things over with about 2 staff!! Furthermore my wives large cod was a small cod as it was a lot smaller than mine but the same size of my sons which was a small/regular, also see photos. My fish tasted dry prob as it just sat out so long! Chips were chips. I couldn't recommend this place to other's and people were even walking away because of the wait as we warned them as they entered. Then they actually turned people away around 7.30pm. There are no excuses, there were 4 to 6 staff in there. There didn't seem to be a huge in flux of customers, similar to other fish and chip shops. I think management should really consider changing the way they do things, it's unacceptable. On reading this review I would appreciate a refund for the drink that you never provided and the difference between a large and regular cod.

I visited Nero last year and had a great experience, but recently I've had a few disappointing encounters. On three separate occasions, I've been served by a young lady with red hair who has been incredibly unprofessional. She has repeatedly mentioned how sick she is (which raises the question: if you're unwell, why are you working and possibly spreading it to others?), complained about her job, and vented about all the tasks she had to complete before the regional manager arrived. Additionally, she hasn't greeted customers and has shown a lack of courtesy overall. On one occasion, she made my drink incorrectly, despite me specifically requesting semi-skimmed milk. When I politely asked if I could have it remade, she got visibly annoyed, then proceeded to make it again and slammed it down in front of me. The entire experience was unpleasant. I won't be returning to Nero again and would advise others to avoid it as well.

Amazing as always my go to freindly happy helpful staff and great drinks. Just the price as the name says it Cost a Lot
