No wonderr the cafe looked empty when you have to pay to park then pay (£5) to have a cup of tea. Makes it very expensive. Seems to be the way these days of paying for parking even in remote locations. You have to wonder if they actual make enugh money to justify it.

So nice to sit in the garden next to the river and enjoy a good coffee and cake. The interior is homely and welcoming and very individual for a NT cafe which are often more like canteens. This has a lovely interior seating area and the staff are wonderful. Highly recommended as is the walk through the lovely countryside alongside the rushing river

On the way to Minehead to meet family who are going to our holiday home in Devon as we are leaving, we stopped off here to break our journey. We had a lovely walk up past Cloud Farm to the old settlement, then back using the permissive path by the river. We called for tea and cake at the Buttery before carrying on with our journey. The road over the bridge is a bit hair raising, but we didn't want to attempt the ford!

National Trust at their usual best. The cafe is a good start and end to many walks in this picturesque part of Devon. On this particular day we did a circular walk of 4 miles that passed the Doone Valley church, but there are many other walks to choose from. The cafe was good, selling the normal if limited fair.

A really lovely place for Sunday lunch. Outside tables with a great view, great menu and friendly staff. Very dog -friendly.

Location wise excellent. Unfortunately, this tired old looking pub has definitely seen better days! Need of major investment, but it would definitely be worth it. Years ago, this pub was full of customers all of the time.

We have just had a brilliant family dinner at The Starter Bar. The staff were really friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble! Our boys both have ADHD, which can make dinners out stressful, but the staff went out of their way to ensure the boys were happy and that we all felt welcome. Staff gave the boys colouring books, sharpened their pencils, chatted about dinosaurs and generally did anything to make them smile. We were relaxed enough to stay for desert, which never happens! All the food was delicious, varied and served piping hot. We definitely recommend the brownie sundae for pudding. The meal and drinks were good value and very tasty. Thank you to the two lovely ladies for giving us a really special evening to remember. Highly recommended.
