Lovely caring staff and atmosphere cosy and a terrific connection, the best coffee house in town for me 👏👏 10/10

Good strong coffee, better than the popular competition in my opinion. Good service.

I popped in with my mum and the kids and the lady was extremely helpful and made me a hot chocolate with caramel syrup and it was so good. The lady was lovely and chatty and very helpful. I didn't have any food, so I can't comment on the food. Would highly recommend this café.

No change in the till at 11am in the morning so had to pay by card expensive two drinks £8 one was a small hot chocolate the cold food cabinet which I was sat opposite had a dirty bowl in in the window sil was really dusty also the floor needed a good clean lots of dust a dog hair in-between the chilled food cabinet.

You're always guaranteed a great Coffee/Cortado at Caffe Nero and this branch is no exception. We visit the Town quite often and it has the best Coffee, with Boston Tea Party a close 2nd. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars, was the very poor selection of Cakes and pastries - it looked like they hadn't had a recent delivery, so they had displayed the leftovers from the previous day - none of which, looked appetising. Very unusual, as other times we've visited, it's been really good.

New manager at the store & it shows; in a good way. Staff a lot happier recently, and cafe is a lot cleaner. Went in today, and spoke to the new manager, a younger guy who had been with the company for several years. Made me a beautiful latte. Saw him scrubbing down the walls as i was leaving,. something which obviously hadn’t been done in a long while. Good things i’ve noticed: 1.Cake fridge- better stocked, cleaner, more organised. 2.More sandwiches, even some left on sunday, but could be more. 3.Tables cleared more promptly. 4.Floors a lot cleaner. 5.Staff happier, new staff doing a great job. 6.STORE OPEN ON TIME EVERYDAY!!!

Super cosy and cute coffee date with my partner. I don’t usually enjoy coffee dates as I don’t enjoy coffee but I tried the amaretto hot chocolate and it was too DIE FOR. We’ve been to cafe Nero every Sunday three weeks in a row since trying this hot Colgate. Id recommend to anyone🤭

Went to visit at 12.30 Sunday lunchtime and found a sign on the door saying back in 20 minutes … 50 minutes later still no sign of opening Other signs on the door said cash only and take away only…. Very poor from such a big Company .. I think I will stick to costa

Yesterday my 1st time going in I was met by Amy who.was working by herself as the other staff member hadn't shown up. Amy was amazing even though you could tell she was stressed as it was way to busy even for 2 people let alone just 1 . Amy was a star so kind helpful and service with a smile Well done but please get her more staff before you loose her

I had a iced frappe creme and it was really good! Staff where like any other staff nice The only things wrong in my experience is the that some of the tables where not cleaned And the prices here are a bit too high Other then that I recommend coming here!

Grubby . Visited at about 9am on Monday .Although the service was good , fast and friendly, the cafe was really grubby. Toilets were off-putting, had not been cleaned and we're grubby with no loo paper. There was dust and dirt in the cafe, it had a tired scruffy look . The coffee was weak and pretty tasteless . The salted caramel tart slice was great but sadly the place needs a good cleaner and tidy up and revamp . There are plenty of better places to enjoy a coffee and cake .

What an incredible team! The guys here today were short staffed, but instead of closing or complaining they tweaked their working methods and cracked on. With a smile. This is proper traditional customer service at its best, well done!

The server was amazing. So helpful and courteous and always with a smile.

We had a great day but only due to the hard working staff member making it. Management need to do better and have more than one person working on a Tuesday afternoon. The girl on was awesome, deserves credit as she was brilliant. Thank you

Great coffee but!!! would not serve in cups although we sat in the café.We drunk our coffee in takeaway plastic/cardboard cups .Very disappointed that the floors and front off fridge/dishwasher was dirty.

Dirty toilet with wet floor and toilet paper. Floor behind counter covered with rubbish. Empty milk bottle, bits of plastic and paper with paper hand towel dangling on the floor. Overflowing waste bin. Staff efficient but not welcoming. Give it a miss.

Just came in for a coffee and the young lady serving was more interested in some woman with a free coffee voucher than concentrating on serving my coffee which I had paid for. Will stick to Costa in future and can see why they are always a lot busier than Nero apart from having better coffee too of course

Nero's is my go to coffee shop, but today's experience was awful. Two very demoralised female staff who took nearly ten minutes to serve just two customers. The place was grubby with dirty crockery on tables. People gave up queuing and left.

We ordered 2 salted caramel hot chocolates, we were told straight away that there was no oat milk or vegan cream but when they arrived there was also no fudge brownie pieces. They have a good vegan selection but is disappointing that they had run out of items and still charged us full price when we didn't receive the full drink and also got charged extra for coconut milk. When this was queried we were told that the cream wasn't extra so we weren't charged for this but it was obviously part of the drink so we were paying for it. A slight reduction would have been nice. The seating area was quite dirty, cups still on tables, floor was messy, toilets had tissue on floor, it was 12pm on a Sunday and the woman behind the counter seemed to be on her own so we did not mention the mess as she was busy.

£3.70 for a takeaway flat white inc 45p surcharge for oat milk. Excessive

Always nice coffee, nice lunch with my wife, would be nice for a umbrella stand so don't have to drip inside the shop?

My most recent visit was humiliating. I’ve been here a few times over the years and I’ve always felt safe and welcome which is important as a member of the trans community….recently I was served by a man with glasses I have not seen before and felt like he was laughing and staring at me with other staff members, I wouldn’t recommend for someone who might be ‘different’ because I was definitely treated differently 👎🏼

I always use Nero's when in Barnstaple this morning it's the dirtiest I've ever seen it. Floors filthy, tables covered in crumbs and uncleared cups and plates. Staff are fully occupied serving, but this level of hygiene is still totally unacceptable.

The branch is in a good location near the Pannier Market and offers the usual selection of snacks etc. The staff were pleasant enough and service was fairly prompt. The toilets are cramped and have no fresh air coming in. Overall, it is slightly grubby and a clean/tidy up is needed.

I took my dog in here. I had a strawberry milkshake, it was thick and creamy, the staff were friendly and i had my dog with me

Oh dear. Walked in on a very quiet Monday morning, every table downstairs dirty with either used cups and saucers or food crumbs. Floor sticky and upstairs toilets absolutely filthy and you could smell them as you approached half way up the stairs. Not a good experience Cafe Nero, you need to up your game.

My husband and i visited in Barnstaple while we were on holiday recently, the restaurant was clean and tidy,two people were serving, and we got served by the lovely Tasha,who was very kind and efficient,especially to an elderly man who seemed to have memory problems,she was so kind to him,not making him feel silly or anything(he tried to pay for his coffee on more than one occasion,even though he'd already paid for it)We were very impressed with this young lady and her kindness.

I visited this establishment 2 weeks ago, lovely coffee and a really nice slice of cake. Served by a lovely young lady who’s service was in my opinion outstanding! But the reason for my 1 star review is because of nasty man who was clearly the one in charge, he was revolting his personal hygiene needs addressing and his attitude stunk too! I will not be visiting this establishment again!

One of the nicer coffee shops in town. Staff always helpful and friendly. Simple things like saying thank you and have a good day as you leave.

Terrible service from staff at this place, when we walked in just before 5pm the young female that appeared to be in charge glared at us and her first words were ‘we close at 5.30’ so unwelcoming it was shocking. I asked for sugar and she just pointed in the general direction without saying a word.Although the coffee was good our experience was tarnished as obviously they didn’t want any customers at that point. It was also clear that said female had her friend sat opposite the serving counter and they were messing about throwing a small ball at each other! Extremely unprofessional.And sure enough before the shop closed this person who looked in charge put her coat on and left with her friend. Dreadful experience and we will not be returning.

Visited this coffee shop and was served by a girl who was applying lipgloss while we waited. She wasn’t wearing gloves had her hands near her mouth then picked up our cups by the rim (not the handle) of the cup we would be drinking out of. She proceeded to make the drinks not even thinking about COVID-19 and infection. Very poor practice in such difficult and uncertain times !!

Awful customer service. My daughter and I stood for over 10 minutes waiting for the two staff to stop chatting so we could be served even though they knew we were there. They totally ignored us so in the end we left.

This cafe was filthy,rubbish lying on the floor,needed a good clean.One staff member was slouched in a chair with her feet up,whose attitude seemed to be “so what if I am”.Not hip or cool.

A nice and relaxed setting with socially spaced seating giving an airy atmosphere. Dog friendly and my dogs found it so relaxing they both dozed off! Coffee was good and service was quick. Staff were polite and friendly. An enjoyable experience and a good place to take a break and unwind.

Came here for a quick lunch - coffee and food was good but tables were very close together. We waited for someone to leave for a table, which was fine but our table wasn’t even wiped down! Staff were friendly but definitely not safe during a pandemic.

Not enough staff on. Not normally an issue as I understand how a business operates. However this was on a day of the government eat out scheme. Not exatly gonna be a surprise it be busier then normal. Forward planning could have helped.

We had been to Cafe Nero in Oxford, so were pleased to find this one in Barnstable. Relatively new to us - not many in our area. The lady in charge was super friendly, just a really nice person and her maleTrainee was also helpful. The mushroom toastie was evidently really good and I enjoyed the lemon muffin - one of the best I have had. The only slightly negative comment is that the venue could do with upgrading, it wasn't very colourful or terribly attractive
