Costa Coffee in North Devon

As it opened there was a Q of 8 people and the staff dealt them efficiently and fast, and then the place was really clean. However, the experience was spoiled by getting my own takeaway cup half full! I asked for a little extra milk and she put a drop in saying you asked for a small! Really! Makes me wonder if I ask the barista for water, she’ll calculate the labour and charge me accordingly! Ps. Too few sockets to do work in that place and the wifi is very slooooooooow!

Myself and my friend visits Costa Coffee at The round 12 business park most Thursdays for a medium hot chocolate and a medium latte and two toasted sandwiches the staff are excellent the restaurant is clean tidy which we like

Went in for a frappe Women on the til was more concerned about talking to her friend. Frappe was not made correctly I belive rushed so she could talk to her friend Very unprofessionally and also a rude experience throughout.. Contacted Costa customer services. Poor service again It's coffee maybe focus on that and not your friends

Nice place can relax and have a conversation

2 star for one reason, management please read. Coca cola own Costa now, would be nice for them to reach into their deep pockets and actually put the air conditioning on! Only ever 2 staff working behind counter which is 1 short imo. Great staff, great service, always nice and clean - typical large organisation like coca cola making their staff and customers suffer. Just to be clear, it's like a greenhouse in there... Not sure what HSE guidelines are but no one was sat inside.

Staff were very helpful and friendly, but a little overworked. Only two staff working, should have been at least three.

Always find this Costa to be the best in Barnstaple!

Tried the new 'Slushie' very berry flavour iced drink. Recommend highly.

The blonde girl behind the counter is rude and very unwelcoming. Crack a smile love or don’t work in a public service place

This is the second time we have been in this Costa recently and been very disappointed. It is looking very grubby and unclean. The staff look stressed, hot and hassled. There are always long queues and two staff running around like headless chickens. The area where the coffee is made is messy and chaotic. My daughter returned with the order today saying;" I don't think we have got lattes or cappuccinos , just coffee, as she is so stressed up there." The tables are not cleared. Costa used to have plenty of well trained baristas who could make the most delicious creamy coffee. The cafes used to be clean and well maintained with clean toilets. I don't think I will be visiting again very soon.

Severs, all polite and well mannered

I was upset when I saw someone skip the line, get their coffee, and leave without paying. Maybe they were friends with the staff who took our orders. I tried to complain to the staff who made the drinks, but they said I was wrong and the person must have used the Costa App

This Costa seems to cope better than the others locally with footfall. Always cleaner and not stood in the queue to long .

Over priced, over worked staff, just go to the MacDonald's drive through and save yourself time and money.

Do not get the hot milkshakes. There where no flavoring and it was gross. It was the worst drink we ever had!

Nice branch of Costa. Handy if you've been shopping and need to chill out for a bit.

Difficult to find a clean table. coffee was average

Been coming here for a few years now and always had a lovely experience. Recently the service has been shocking, being made to feel like a pain for ordering! Have been spoken too rudely, eyes rolled, refused to accept cash, dirty cup and spoon, and women on the counter speaking to other staff members badly. Sad to see as used to be a lovely coffee shop.

The coffee is good, but a lot more attention could be paid to the general cleanliness of the store. Dirty cups and glasses left on the tables and it didn't look like it had been swept or dusted in a long time, overall just dirty and we will be avoiding this Costa in future.

Thought I would visit today to see if it had changed much. So much better! Good service, happier staff, which is always a good thing!

Only work across the way and lateley the customer service has gone down hill! Is there a staffing problem?? Normally the staff are supper friendly but not so the last month. Orders all getting mixed up. Items missing from special drinks. Cold ‘hot chocolates’ or latte drinks. Half full drinks. Also the actual serving area needs a damn good clean!! Where has the pride gone?? I did make a note to head office but had nothing back bar the auto reply. Not good for such a big company.

Located in a business park makes this a useful Costa. The manager is excellent as is most of the staff. However, during busy periods the tables are left uncleaned. In addition, one member of staff picks up clean cups by putting her fingers inside them - and constantly touches her face & hair - not useful re Covid.

Thoroughly unmotivated staff. The barista rolled her eyes when we ordered, didn't ask us if we wanted to drink in or takeaway. Iced latte wasn't a latte, but an espresso, syrup and cold milk with cream on top, shoved into a too-small cup. Americano tasted of literally nothing, which I don't know if it was a problem with the coffee or the brewing process, but I did notice that the espresso machine was filthy.

Been coming here yearly as Im in the area for just under 2 weeks a year. First 3 visits were great, with great service and speedy! But the last visit I had a rather rude encounter with the lady Ella. Asked/Ordered a mochacinno instead of a mocha which was fine from the man. then when preparing, I was asked if I wanted sprinkles which I didn't hear as it was loud in there and to confirm I asked for the mochachino? To which she replied rudely "there isn't such thing as a mochacino darling" in front of other customers with a very rude attitude which isn't professional and made me uncomfortable as I didn't want to make a fuss infront of others I just agreed with a mocha. Then she didnt even wait for me to leave to start her complaining to her colleague straight after. Just for your info Ella "Mocha is a coffee drink prepared with espresso shots, heated milk, and chocolate. On the other hand, mochaccino is a latte variation that includes chocolate in its making. Mocha offers more of a chocolatey flavour, whereas mochaccino offers a well-balanced taste of coffee and chocolate. " You can find that on Google. It wouldn't have been an issue but as I was told it was fine when ordering I didn't expect to be treated that way.

Speedy, cheerful service. Bacon and brie panini very tasty.

Big thanks to the idiot with the IQ of a grape for overfilling our takeaway coffees that went everywhere when we took the lids off to put sugar in! Has also burnt my partners hand.

I like Costa coffee but on too many occasions now "sit in" coffee is served in take away cups, I presume because they don't have the staff (or can't be bothered) to wash up. And even then no discount is offered. Must do better Mr Costa!!!

Microwave food. Mix up with orders. Nice situation.

Great coffee and great service, shame about the cleanliness of the kitchen and tables. With a bit more care and attention to cleaning, this would be 5 stars.

To start I had to wait as one till wasn't working. I was excited to try the new popcorn frappe only to be met with what looked to be an ordinary vanillia. I should've ordered that as all I got was a milk and ice frappe with about 1 pump of syrup in the bottom for £4.50. not to mention the complete lack of sauce and crack down the side of the cup. I am disappointed.

Quite busy. Clean & more staff on which was good. Thought the food had gone up alot in price but it all looked nice & fresh. Didn't really get any atmosphere as everyone was in their own groups. I like it like that as you don't have to shout at each other. Good to see lots of people uses the refill mugs.

Place looked dirty, cobwebs on side of windows, windows smeared with who knows what, crumbs all over the floor, the table had not been cleaned. No cleaning of tables in-between customers that I saw. Felt I was eating in an old farm shed. Terrible !!!!!I I'll go to McDonald's, coffee cheaper and it's so much cleaner 🙂

Arrived 7.20am for coffee and breakfast but doors still locked should be open at 7.00am staff inside just looking at you but never mind McDonald’s next door was open

Stopped here to grab a coffee and sandwich. Staff great, coffee excellent but my M&S Egg and Cress Sandwich was literally frozen inside. Quite scary I dint realise these sandwiches are frozen for distribution purposes. Needless to say eating a frozen egg sandwich on a very hot English day was not a risk I wanted to take. The girl kindly refunded me without any problem, but did NOT check the other sandwiches on display.

£3.20 for a large decaf. Asked for hot milk...coffees still only warm. Obviously dont want anyone hanging around. Fall for it now and then.....better off at MCD 99p for a hot coffee even if its not quite as smooth

Clean coffee shop, friendly, polite and efficient staff. Cutlery received with food (often have to ask at other Costa's!). All good.

I have always found the service to be excellent, the staff in there are so patient and kind with my daughter. The shop is always clean and generally empty tables are free of empties. Would recommend. Wish I had the foresight to ask for the girls names but basically all the female staff are amazing

Great place for some time out. Spacious, clean and airy with easy parking and well-trained staff. You can generally rely on consistently tasty food and drink in Costa outlets and can be good value if you collect and use points.

Comfy seats, warm, lighting good and coffee fab.

Usual loveliness, however a little bit intrigued as to why asked if I minded if my toasties go into the warmer together, I said OK that was fine. Then one of the toasties went in with someone else's and then had to wait for the second one to be warmed with someone else's. By the time I got the second toasty the first one was cold.

It was the first time I had sat in this Costa and I was pleasantly surprised , the comfy seats and spacious area. You didn't feel you were in a car park.

Staff were welcoming and very polite. Tables were clean and hygienic. Ample hand sanitizer on entry and exit. I recommend the Flat White. Defo one of the best I have visited. Top 5 star awarded and I don't give that often. Thank you Barnstaple COSTA team.

Lovely, tidy Costa, with a steady stream of customers, even on Boxing Day! Friendly staff too.

Good coffee, only downfall at the moment is there's no oat milk, hopefully that'll change soon...

Clean and tidy, staff busy cleaning tables between customers. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.

Spacious building with lots of light. Level access and lots of parking. Staff pleasant.

Couldn’t believe how rude the staff are in a corporate business, went to buy a coffee this morning to be served by a young lady trying to make a coffee while on her mobile phone, wow what skills Costa teach there staff

My old man loves the flat whites, looks forward to our visits to Costa.

My crew mate and I visited this Costa coffee for the first time. The members of staff were absolutely lovely and proffesional. I tried a different coffee and they offered to change it if I didnt like it. My colleague used a reusable mug and they filled it right up rather than just pouring a medium mocha. Thank you so much, you've brighten our days up. Stay safe

Went into a empty cafe. Was served straight away. And the drink was lovely i might add. Sat outside enjoying the sunshine. When 3 or 4 people entered the cafe the wheels seamed to fall off.waiting time was horrendous. Perhaps it's like most places. Leave the new ones up to there neck in it.

Ridiculously slow and unorganised. Waited 15 minutes to place my order with staff standing around looking clueless. The coffee was incorrect and when I mentioned this to the barista she made a new one but was rude unfriendly with a bad attitude. Needs a area manager to attend to teach customer service.

Excellent service and the usual good standard of food and drinks.

Hi guys 👋. Wellllll, it's a Costa, what can I possibly tell you that you don't already know? The cakes are always awesomely tasty but the coffee varies in temperature a bit sometimes. Today was the 1st time since lockdown that I've had a Costa, so that felt a bit more special than usual, my only issue was that the track and trace poster stuck on all the tables didn't work, I had to go back to the till to find a working one, so that kinda let the side down in these Covid times! 🙁 Anyway, the food was good, company was nice and gave us both some chilled out time before the onslaught of shopping 😆 😜 Have a great day all! 👍😊 😊

Had a lovely birthday meet with a dear friend,beautifully clean,good service,delicious cakes on sale,dieters hell!! Lovely atmosphere.

Standard Costa coffee, nothing amazing but the staff were friendly and in and out quickly.

By a narrow margin over the third placed, the second best Costa in Barnstaple. They sometimes get your order a little wrong and some confusion around the new queue system but easy to get in and out of.

Why do the staff insist on customers using ppe. But staff making your drinks don't?

Trouble with queue jumping because staff didn't explain process as customers as they entered the shop. Quickly resolved after I explained to them the arrows and traffic flow! Service was okay but had to remind staff that I also ordered a muffin that was missing from order.

Expensive and the coffee tastes very bland.

This is a new costa and is very nice and clean. It offers the standard Costa product which means you know what to expect and you get that. Recommended

Not the best Costa I have visited. Very slow service. Youngsters working there were left to fend for themselves, should have had an older person to oversee.

Coffee was great as always but the young man serving it needs to improve on his personal skill it's been a long time since I was just handed my coffee with not even a thank you or enjoy but nothing just slide it towards me and turned away......Thank you Costa for the coffee not the staff

Very busy, but a nice venue, open and light due to two sides of glass. A bit awkward for mobility scooters due to hand rails? outside main door. Easy access to toilets. Nice staff. A bit chaotic when I visited but this happens sometimes due to peaks and troughs in customers. On the whole a nice place to sit and watch the world go by!

As coffee shops go this one is average. Of course it has all the usual things you expect from.Costa - average coffee and limited food options for vegans. The place is a fairly decent size and doesn't get too crowded. Against this hospitality is erratic. Some of the staff are lovely while others are begrudging and grumpy

Nice place to meet friends. First time here and I liked the layout. Very busy but staff kept up well with the orders.

This is a new Costa in a purpose built unit. Obviously it’s a Costa so it’s exactly what you would expect. Nice that you can park for free outside. Great location for out of town shops.

It's nice not to have to travel into town now since this new Costa opened. A really lovely place. Light and airy, nice chairs and super repaved atmosphere. And the staff are the best. So friendly and polite, even when you don't fancy a cake! Recommended.
