The ribs usually come with a slaw, but husband opted out. Meat was lovely, fell off the bone. My Mini Matt Burger was NOT Mini. It had a whole potato waffle in it. burger was sooo juicy and tasty. Upgraded my fries to sweet potato. Tin jar cocktails were good, but make sure you stir after adding the booze 😊

I was stuck in Barnstaple with a flat tire and needed to find somewhere for dinner. A work colleague recommended Bull and bear and I couldn't of asked for better service and food. The two girls on front of house were both amazing. Both were friendly and made me laugh about the situation. Would recommend this place to anyone in Barnstaple looking for some great food and service.

Went here to watch football with mates STAFF ARE SO RUDE! No how are you how’s your day just your a few mins late where have you been no need for that is there I understand it’s busy and a Saturday but don’t be horrible to customers I said on the note to sit us at the front they sat us in a corner at the back which isn’t what we asked for they didn’t even email us to say we couldn’t sit at the front so strange! You lost valuable custom yesterday and I will never be coming here again that’s for sure 🤣

Decided to not cook so plucked a place to go. Staff were totally overwhelmed, lots of guests but only two members of staff serving. So unfortunately Service was not great. Food was ok but honestly for a burger and chips (you get more chips in a mcdonalds happy meal) not for the price outstanding. We wanted to order desert but after 20 mins waiting for our plates even to be cleared we gave up and left. We won't be back to soon . A shame as this used to be a great place to eat.

Food was good, it’s got American size portions as I haven’t seen this much food on my plate since moving to England 😬 They have some great food items and definitely would recommend checking them out if you like American Grill type food 🤘🏼

Used to absolutely love this place, visiting pretty much weekly (sometimes twice weekly!) for the last 18 months or so and recommending it whenever possible, however it has massively gone downhill in recent months. The staff are always very welcoming with great service but the food quality has been steadily decreasing. I’m not sure if it has changed hands or something but after a couple of really disappointing visits, we have decided to stop going. The soya Bandwagon used to be the absolute best Vegetarian burger around (since Nando’s got rid of their soya burger), the pea protein burger wasn’t bad, but whatever they have replaced it with is vile and they don’t seem at all interested in any feedback on it (and staff have told me that I am not the only person who has fed this back). The last two times I’ve visited, it has been inedible. Last time, while we were waiting for our plates to be collected by the server, the person I was with commented that there was an awful smell. I had to point out that it was the burger pattie that I had left on my plate. The new burger tastes like burnt Weetabix mixed with water and smells unfortunately like cat poop and bleach. With my burger, I always order the Mac ‘n’ Cheese topping, which also seems to have changed. It now tastes as though the cheese has been omitted from the recipe. I am devastated as this was my absolute favourite comfort meal and I would take any opportunity to come to B&B for my favourite burger. Two pics added. In one, you can see the tasty, rich looking Mac ‘n’ cheese in the burger, in the other one the pale tasteless one. I know times are hard for businesses at the mo and that savings have to be made where possible, but I’d be happier paying a couple quid extra and having a decent quality burger than this. We really miss coming here and would love to start coming back if things improve!

We ordered off of Uber eats paid £40 for 2 burgers and upgraded to sweet potato fries for an extra £4, when it arrived we had a handful of chips to share between us and the food was stone cold 😞 don’t like complaining usually but it’s a lot of money for that

First off the atmosphere was decent along with the good service! However the food was overpriced and pretty much terrible. I had the Texas pete other then the jalapeños it’s was bland as water. My mrs had the vegi poddinton and it was burnt to a crisp also bland and overall just left a putrid taste. I highly discouraged anyone to come here.

I went in when it was quiet. Service was fairly slow. I appreciate that they don’t want to rush you, but we waited around half an hour before they took our order. We then waited around another 30 mins for the food. During this time they came back twice to tell us that items we had ordered were not available. When our burgers came the patties were dry and tough. Toppings were ok but no better than pub standard. Overall it was a very underwhelming experience. I was really disappointed. This place seemed promising and I really wanted to like it

A little over priced, four chipolatas in a tiny amount of bacon for £7.95. Service was ok

First visit to Bull & Bear after a very long day at local market trading all day so needed a meal. Parking may be an issue so look to park if you’re going by car around the corner by the church hall. But of a faff to get there but worth it. Arrival greeting was cheery and nice and shown to a table for two which sort of stuck out a bit next to the way in and bar area. Strangely no paper menus and they rely on you being suitably literate and have a smartphone to know what to do scanning a QR code on a table mounted menu card to choose your desired eats. Not intuitive but does the job if you’re into tech. As usual drinks are prioritised at the start but with no real ale was a disappointment. 3 lagers and some fruit ciders on tap and strangely 2 Guinness bar heads being told Guinness would be in a can … no thanks. ! Settled for a chilled Peroni and a rose spritzer for the missus Burgers are clearly made either in house or locally with plenty of flavour. Served in a bun, with onions and cheese for my selection with a couple of damp limp with cheese “Nachos” which in a burger bun were neither nice nor crisp. Regular fries were already salted or slightly spiced with a nice crispness to the outside and hot Condiments were provided and were clean and well presented. Salt and pepper in old bottles was a little “different” though. A larger party taking over front of house in a separate room were a bit noisy but they were having a good time. Overall it beats a Burger King and by a country mile any Mc Donald’s rubbish. In this day and age I’d have expected chips included at the prices but it wasn’t the end of the world

Great place for burgers, loaded fries, bratwurst, nachos etc. Always have a great meal here, reasonably priced for the portions and quality, you'll definitely leave feeling full!

Great music, good and vegan choice

Came here on a Thurs night for a meal out with the hubby whilst staying in barnstaple. was absolutely lovely, burger was really giid quality, you could taste it! The staff were super friendly and attentive

Unfortunately my salmon was overcooked and the corn cob very bland, also oddly I was not actually allowed to have a mixture of ice-cream flavours, could only have 3 scoops of the same! My partner however did enjoy his burger

Even though I have a load of allergies, they made the effort to ensure I had a decent meal, and that I still felt important and like a person- the food itself was also amazing! 10/10 recommend to everyone!

Never had a bad burger here! One of the best burger joints I’ve found in north Devon and well worth a visit! Today I was waited on by Georgie, she was very attentive and made the experience even better! 😊👍

After an hour waiting for a burger and still no sign of food or staff, I paid for my coffee and left. Appalling service. The place was empty so not entirely sure what the issue was? Will be a long time before I go back.

Lovely pub for a meal on holiday - the staff were so kind and helpful! The food was delicious- best food we’d had all holiday! And plenty of tvs to watch the sports if that’s what you’re in to! Lovely loos too! Would definitely recommend!

Went in for some food on Saturday and I have to say they was absolutely fantastic they squeezed us in and sophie the waitress was absolutely fantastic! She told us she was nee but you would have never of guessed nothing was to much for them and the food was fantastic! Would highly recommend!!

This restaurant offers a great variety of indulgent food options, making it a great spot for a cheat day. My family and I dine here at least twice a month, and we are always impressed with the quality and value. Lunches are an especially great deal at just £7, with a variety of options to choose from. The staff at Bull & Bear are truly amazing, always providing top-notch service. The restaurant is also always kept impeccably clean, and it's located in a beautifully historic building. Not only that, but it's also a great spot to enjoy cocktails and catch a game. If it were possible, I would vote this place more than five stars!

I'm a coeliac and have unfortunately got sick twice now from eating here despite being assured that the food is coelaic safe (separate fryers etc.) I'm not sure what's going on in the kitchen for this to happen but sadly I wouldn't feel safe eating here again. (A shame because the food is lovely!)

We ordered a takeaway as the disabled toilet is upstairs! I ordered Mexican dirty fries but asked to change to waffle chips and no jalapeño peppers. When my husband got there they hadn't done it as it cost an extra £1 and as we didn't pay at the time (it didn't give us the option) they didn't do it and had already made it. We spent £50 so it wasn't cheap. My daughter ordered the pasta and they missed with the sauce as it was so dry. We ordered the tato tots but they forgot the dip. Waffle fries could have done with another 10 minutes. Very disappointed.

The burgers from here are delicious. Very nice and quiet at times too. Perfect for meeting up with friends for a catch up too.

On the night I visited, it was pouring with rain and I needed dinner, I said cto myself I'm going vin the first eating house I see and the Bull and Bear was first. Predominantly a young person eating house and me an oldie, well a young oldie at 69 , I did not put the staff off, they welcomed me in , showed me a table and even helped me order, ( I did not know how to scan that Q thingy ) the food was quick in coming , extremely tasty and I was so well looked after. I know this might cramp there style but don't be afraid to go in , I was so well looked after like a long lost grandparents, oh by the way, they serve an excellent glass of 🍷, 10 out of 10 guys, lovely meal, great caring staff. Go on granny try it

An amazing pub. We have room you can book, the bar staff came and took drink and food orders regularly. We had the England match, on a big TV. All had a great time and I would highly recommend this pub!
