Our second visit here yesterday. You could probably drive 🚗 past the place if you didn't know it was here. Very small place but cosy. Only had coffee ☕️ and something from the sweet cabinet. Coffee ☕️ could have been made better, but they were very busy, and only one lady took the orders and made the coffee so I could understand the delay in taking our order and bringing the coffee. The lady was very pleasant even though she seemed a little rushed off her feet. If you want to eat here, then I would get here when the place opens because it gets busy quickly, plus there isn't a lot of parking. Prices aren't the cheapest but also not ridiculous either. I would recommend trying this place

Visited today (06/11.24 ) for the first time in over 30 years and found the service to be friendly and efficient. Good menu and although quite busy the food arrived in good time and well cooked. Land chops and Lamb steaks on the menu which is rarity these days. The Lamb steak was a good size compared to supermarket lamb steaks . Good range of drinks at prices that were more affordable than some other pubs in the area. As a group of 4 wee count fault it . Opening times a tad restrictive and not opened any bank holidays. Best book.

Recommended by a friend and Colleague to go here for a Sunday Roast. We have been a couple of times in the summer and I must say this place is an all rounder. Fantastic Sunday Roasts with an array of seperate options if you have children or fussy family members. The two hosts were welcoming and made us feel comfortable the minute we entered with a contagious smile and banter. We were served by a young waitress who was polite and patient whilst she took our order. We all tried different variations of the roast options that were available and the food was cooked to perfection. Hats off to Saff & the Kitchen Team 👏 Only one preference would be the ability to have stuffing with my roast but in hindsight the portion was more than satisfying that I probably couldn't have fit it in.

The refurb of this place is of a very high standard and the staff are friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the food lets it down. Primarily, if you don't like burgers or fish and chips, find somewhere else. I visited with a friend and although my fish and chips were good, my friends meal was first served on completely cold vegetables. On pointing this out to the waiting staff, she offered a replacement which, we expected would be a plated meal with hot food. Unfortunately it was delivered as a pile of veg and potatoes thrown together in a tin dish. Not ideal and a real disappointment. Probably would not visit again.

Great brewery tour...the beer, food and views superb. Cannot fault a thing. The tap room was buzzing, staff very busy but welcoming. Will visit again...

This place has recently changed hands and the new owners are also in business marketing wine particularly from South Africa. Our visit were was principally to collect a couple of cases of wine that we had ordered, but whilst we were here as part of our Wells mini break, we decided to have brunch having not breakfasted. Parking is not easy here, the custom seems to be to draw-up right outside on the main road, and park on part of the pavement. There is a car park opposite and to the left about 100 metres away. This café/shop serves the village of Chewton Mendip and, judging by the clientele we saw there, it is well supported by local residents. There appears to be different menus available depending on the day of the week and the time of the day. When we visited the breakfast menu was still in operation and we chose the standard breakfast rather than the larger version. We had 2 rashers of good bacon, a great sausage, a hash brown (which was a tad oily), a well-cooked fried egg, a small (but sufficient) serving of baked beans and a slice of toast made from supermarket bread. At £7.95 this represented excellent value as it was all cooked to order. It was much-enjoyed and made the better because of the sachet of HP Sauce available in the sauces selection. We also bought some good scented candles and had a good peruse of other ‘fancy good/gifts’ and the wine on sale, but in the latter we were seeing if there were some South African wine that we hadn’t tasted from our connection with the wine cellar mentioned earlier. The lady serving was very pleasant and helpful, and we enjoyed our time here.
