The Mendip Pantry in Mendip

Our second visit here yesterday. You could probably drive 🚗 past the place if you didn't know it was here. Very small place but cosy. Only had coffee ☕️ and something from the sweet cabinet. Coffee ☕️ could have been made better, but they were very busy, and only one lady took the orders and made the coffee so I could understand the delay in taking our order and bringing the coffee. The lady was very pleasant even though she seemed a little rushed off her feet. If you want to eat here, then I would get here when the place opens because it gets busy quickly, plus there isn't a lot of parking. Prices aren't the cheapest but also not ridiculous either. I would recommend trying this place

What a fabulous find, on route home from a holiday. We stopped for a coffee. Great coffee and cake, but need to mention the beef lasagne that we bought to take home for tea. It was so delicious, one of the best I gave even tasted. If you're in the area I can highly recommend it.

Lovely place to stop off on way through, very friendly service and lovely sausage sandwich. The cooked breakfast looks great too. Dog friendly as well. Parking is easy if not busy just on the pavement or round the corner on the roadside. Stopped off again and had the cooked breakfast which I gobbled up before I thought to photograph, all lovely and served with a smile. Another stop off and had the roasted veg quiche that the lovely lady heated up , delicious and well worth finding a car parking space to sample the experience.

Recently started using this store. I phone my sandwich order through and collect on way to Bristol. Lovely fresh produce and delicious cakes. Great service and nice environment.

Good food to either eat in or takeaway. Friendly staff and great service. Can't fault it.

Much used by locals, this is as close to a classic tea room as you could wish for. A bakery is on the premises so all food is fresh. There is always a good selection of cake and light foods such as lasagna or cottage pie. You can park right out side if you want and it's on a main road but don't let that put you off. We go there frequently and are always satisfied.

Great breakfast in pleasant surroundings. Sausages were superb. They also do some lovely scotch eggs (home made) as well. I usually call in most weeks and always enjoy what I have. All the staff are very pleasant and nothing is too much trouble. Well worth a visit to the Mendip Pantry.

I visit quite often. It is a friendly place, sometimes like episode of cheers. Sometimes very lively, with cyclists, walkers, locals, tradesmen , families. Other times quiet . Eclectic mix of cafe with lovely food mostly made on premises. Cakes, snacks and main meals. Also selk basic shop items and chocolate bars. Stock a wide range of up market spirits and South African wines. Best cafe in Somerset area I reckon 😉.

Fantastic breakfast. Great selection on the menu & an amazing array of homemade cakes etc. Brilliant find. Wish this place was in my town…!

Items to look out for are lasagnas and meat pies plus the usual selection of cakes. All is cooked on the premises and the environment is very pleasant. There are normally two staff there both of who work very hard so if there is an occasional delay then forgive them. They also sell high quality wines and local groceries parking is easy, we normally park outside

6 of us met for breakfast. Great food and we all had a fantastc time. Will be back for sure

The lasagne and cottage pies are the best I’ve ever eaten. Worth a detour!!

Exellent breakfast, couldn’t fault it. Set it on your satnav if you drive past it do a you turn when its safe to do so and go back, you won't regret it. I can not praise this cafe enough. 5 star all day long.

What an absolutely gorgeous place to enjoy a fabulous breakfast. Staff are really lovely, menu is terrific and the food was sublime. Very relaxing atmosphere, the only criticism would be the lack of parking. But if you find somewhere to park you are in for a real treat. Thank you Sue and staff , a real gem. I will definitely be revisiting.

Great little tea shop/cafe/village shop in Chewton Mendip. Driven past 100's of times. SO wish I'd been in before. Delicious cakes, buns and pastries and the couple next to us had just enjoyed a breakfast to shout about. Really great little place and good value. Don't drive past! It's worth a journey!

Great spot for an extensive South African wine selection as well as biltong and other SA favourites. Agaat Christina and John David is stocked here. See socials for interesting food and wine pairing events.

Had the home made pasty with chips and peas, really very good. Would have been excellant with a good splash of gravy.

Wow, the pies!!!! Fabulous pasty and steak pies - full to the brim, tender, flavourful and the pastry to die for - kudus to the lady that makes them - she knows her stuff!!! I will be buying them from there in the future!

Best Eccles cakes in the south west. Homemade and handmaid and gorgeous.

First time visit today while on a walk exploring the area and a fabulous little find. Great coffee and service with friendly staff. Will definitely be back again. The village is lucky to have such a place.

Hiding in plain sight The Mendip Pantry is a hidden gem of a spot for breakfast, lunch and at the moment even Christmas Dinner. Being only 1130am on a Sunday I settled for the wonderful breakfast and two flat whites. All perfect. My partner had the best scrambled eggs on toast that she has ever had. The cafe also doubles up as a bit of a local shop and sells some decent looking wines.... Such a shame it's breakfast time else we'd no doubt be massively impressed with that too!!

Met a couple of friends for lunch and a catch up - food is delicious, breakfast is served all day and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Fabulous cafe and the cakes are wonderful!

Nice tasty sandwiches pleasant staff

Popped in here with a group of cyclists after a ride on the very close Mendips. The area near the cafe is ideal for cycling around if you are coming from Bristol/Bath/Wells/Frome etc, and what better way to have a rest than to pop into the Mendip Pantry for a revitalising Coffee and a Pastry. I had a latte and croissant. Others in our group had flat whites, pots of tea and Pain au Chocolat. Nice touch having the tables outside and we were able to keep an eye on the bikes which is always most welcome. Very polite and efficient service too. I would say this is an ideal cycling stop if you are on your way to ride around the Mendips, or are on your way back from them. Thanks for looking after us!

After a four mile walk we popped in to buy a drink to go but noticed the lovely lunches and cakes so stayed and ate 2 courses. Courteous and efficient service too.

A nice cafe and local store, we had a nice coffee and a lovely cake.

Popped in for the first time mid week in June. Have past this place many a time but never gone in until today. Great selection of food, cake, drinks, friendly welcome. Fresh local strawberries looked amazing. Will be back for sure.

Lovely, cosy, family run enterprise; part farm shop, part general store, part gift shop, part cafe but fully friendly pitstop for coffee and cake. It all looks home made and it all looks delicious! Excellent espresso and a faultless chocolate brownie. We were on bikes and were damp and cold after being caught out by the weather but despite our mud flecked appearance received a generous welcome and a nice table inside, to warm up as the sun finally made an appearance.

I visited this lovely cafe to do some work, have some lunch and hold a work meeting. It’s an absolute treasure! Amazing food, great people and a wonderful atmosphere. I bought some food for our dinner from the deli and it was delicious. I will definitely be returning and thank you for making me feel so welcome.

Enjoyed the delicious English breakfast, which was cooked to perfection. The staff gave us a warm welcome and were polite and friendly. I would recommend dining here to anyone who is looking for reasonably priced meal. It is also an interesting village store with a comprehensive wine stock.(4/12/21)

Due to a road closure we decided to stop and visit the shop. Wow what a lovely place to shop, the variety of pasties and deli items is amazing. The roast beef and horseradish sandwich was fantastic and was washed down with a lovely cup of tea. You can sit in or take away, the staff were fantastic and very friendly and helpful. Thank you for some great food and wonderful hospitality, good luck with this buisness I hope to be passing by again to enjoy your food once again

A superbly run village store and cafe, near to Wells. Spotlessly clean and well stocked. Wife and I had lunch. Excellent and at a fair price, cheerfully served. Ham was succulent. What a fortunate village. Well recommended. Owners deserve success. Keith Rudyard

What a lovely breakfast proper bacon and sausage

I think I've reviewed this shop/café before, and it's still 5 star. Friendly staff, amazing hand made scotch eggs, tasty fries and they stock some great things too. If you're passing, stop by you won't regret it. We always make a detour to this place when coming back from the airport and it's always worth it!

A lovely cafe with excellent food and shop. The wine on offer is extensive and good.

Had lunch today. Food was first class and so was the service. The two ladies there are very welcoming and nothing is to much trouble. Are visit was Saturday 4th September. Very much a gem in the mendips. Will definitely be going back. For yummy home made food.

We came across this cafe on our way through to Cheddar Resevoir, what a wonderful surprise! The food was delicious, the ladies were so lovely and they were so friendly to our dog! Will definitely be stopping here again and would definitely recommend!

I come in regular and have olive's that are lovely but I only get half a pot which is not exceptable. Also I'd prefer them in a bowl which would save you having to bin the pot.

This is a trip back in time! Parking is across the road, turn opposite the Pantry,on right. Very short walk back. All cafe food deliciously home made, and the shop is a trip down memory lane, oldie world. Well worth a visit. Staff lovely, nothing to much bother. Not the best location BUT put up with that for the experience.

My first memorable visit! Am enthralled...you stock my most favourite wine Painted Wolf and are right on my doorstep! Friendly, helpful ladies and lush food! Will be back very soon! Thank you for making me smile!
