The Station Café in Mendip

A great cream tea box to have on the train.

We were at Cranmore for the East Somerset Railway Steam Gala. We had taken a picnic as we were warned there was a reduced menu and it was extremely busy last year. However, it was a very cold day and the thought of a cuppa and slice of cake as well as a warm up, "forced" us in. The team were working well with smiles all round and it was great to see the Cafe has recovered from the 3 recent flooding episodes. Always a great place to stop for lunch.

Fantastic breakfast for myself and my friend. Usual high standard of food, atmosphere and banter. Will be back again...and again.

WOW the breakfast here is amazing. The staff are very friendly and the place is spotless. Plenty of parking and good toilets. Highly recommended the food here. On the plus side you can always look around the heritage railway while you are here. Plenty to see and do even on non train running days.

Friendly team serving, good food and nothing too fancy. Very to trlax in a classic atmosphere with no pressure to move on. If your not taking the train ride, check the timetables and go to the restaurant just after the train has departed, it's so peaceful!!

We all enjoyed a lovely Christmas High Tea at the cafe on a static first class carriage. It has a lovely cosy festive feel. The staff were friendly and attentive and we didn't feel at all rushed. The tea itself was delicious and well presented. A well-enjoyed treat!

The Station cafe didn't disappoint with a lovely Christmas meal for us. This is the 2nd year we have had our seasonal get together there as a group of 12. Meal consisted of starters, main and dessert with hot drinks and it was delicious. All served piping hot and good selection with one being gluten free! Staff are friendly and very helpful. No doubt we will be back as there is everything you need there for a good meal with good company!

WOW 😮, what a hidden gem. The station café is absolutely brilliant. This is my first time visiting this café and definitely will not be the last. I popped in as I was in the area and thought I would give it a go. I went for the full English breakfast and a mocha. This did not disappoint one bit, the mocha was nice but the breakfast is one of the best I have had in a long time, for those who follow me on instagram (travelmad999) you will know I like a good breakfast and this tasted lovely, so much so I told the staff. The staff could of not been more friendly and helpful and I will definitely be going back again. Plenty of parking and easy to find. The cafe was warm and clean and plenty of railway related items on the walls. Great place to go for a coffee after visiting the East Cranmore Railway which is in the same location , I’m sure I will be reviewing this very soon. I don’t normally write long reviews but this was so good I promise you that you won’t be disappointed

We visit the café as often as we can, the staff are delightful, helpful and genuinely lovely. The range of food is incredible - there is something on the menu for everyone! You can choose to sit inside or outdoors - either are comfortable and attractive options - and the facilities are kept clean and tidy. I really recommend you give the café a visit, we always bring our friends and family and everyone leaves with a full belly and a happy heart. It's a truly special place with a lot of spirit. Knowing that the food is excellent at The Station Café, we asked if they'd cater for a small(ish) birthday party, and we were not disappointed. We collected a delicious range of lunch foods, arranged beautifully on trays. The lunch was really well received, and barely a crumb was left! A huge thank you to The Station Café for their great communication, catering and for making the birthday lunch a breeze!

Excellent, good quality produce (lovely toasted sandwich and chocolate brownie!) and friendly staff who coped with the large influx of railway enthusiasts at the same time without any fluster or stress. Always drop in whenever visiting the East Somerset Railway, well supported by a steady stream of locals which is always a good sign! Excellent choice of homemade cakes too.

Lovely little cafe at East Somerset Railway. Good value and child friendly. Plenry of gluten free options. Highly recommended.

This cafe is a great addition to the village. My late husband’s wake was held here. I chose a Greek buffet which everyone said was fantastic and they said they just kept going back for more. The breakfasts and lunches are excellent too. Try their homemade cakes - which you can take out if you’re too full! Always friendly, I highly recommend this little gem - words a friend used who does not live locally!

We went specifically for late breakfast - as it says “all day breakfast” on website but no actual menu online. Apparently all day breakfast finishes by 11.30……. I pointed this out to lady at counter who stated they’ve never done all day breakfasts, except when special events on when you need to look at website; but as that was what we’d just done only to find wrong information couldn’t be bothered to argue. As all they had to offer was cake or jacket potatoes, neither of which we wanted, we gave up on the place. Very disappointed.

We visited The East Somerset Railway for the first time today, then we visited the cafe for food and drink, what a hidden gem, a beautiful and clean cafe with lovely attentive staff, we will be back.

The most wonderful food, Greek or English, all delicious. The good folk who work there are wonderful and they have provided us all with great food from Lockdown onwards. Very highly recommended.

The food here is fantastic and the staff are very friendly and always have a smile. I have been several times with my family and with work as we all love the food. If the food wasn’t enough you have lots of railway signs inside the building plus a working steam heritage railway station above ☝️

I come here regularly, always good food and service with a smile! As a volunteer at the railway the cafe is a welcome addition for all of us, heartily recommended.

On your visit to East Somerset railway, it doesn't matter whether or not you like trains! You will love this gem of a cafe ! Staff are friendly and food is freshly cooked and is delicious. There is a good selection of drinks, hot and cold. And if you are in need of a sweet treat, you could choose a cream tea or one of the large selection of daily homemade cakes! I've had several visits at the station cafe and have never been disappointed. We even had a large table of friends gather there for our Christmas meal in the evening! I'm sure you won't be disappointed with a visit here!

Went for a nice walk in the surrounding countryside before having lunch at this lovely little cafe. Nice spot right by the heritage train line and done out very nicely inside. There’s a good assortment for lunch but I’d definitely suggest you give the Greek food a try. There’s also a very tempting selection of cakes and bakes to choose from so make sure you arrive with an appetite.

Really lovely staff, including the chef who popped out to offer us a doggy bag 😊 we got to feed Barney the station dog a treat and take a little selfie. The best home made food, lovely warm atmosphere and all for £16.50 each for festive cream tea 🤤

We love eating here. Ate from their Greek Catering Trailer during Covid when the cafe was closed. So pleased the newly refurbished cafe is now open for everything from a snack to a satisfying meal. Lovely and clean, great friendly service and great menu. We always eat from the authentic Greek choices. Sometimes we add chips which are really delicious and tasty. A lovely place to eat, reasonably priced and happy to be regulars.

Excellent food and very friendly service, very impressed. Took Mum for lunch, she had the souvlaki, I had the Greek salad. It was all fresh, tasty and delicious and the flat bread was the best I have ever eaten. The cappuccinos were great too. We had a fun ride on the steam train, then went back to the cafe where we shared a cream tea. I can't wait to go back to try the cooked breakfast and the homemade cakes. Highly recommended.

We visited the cafe today for a welcome cup of afternoon tea . Service with a smile and an excellent cuppa . Just one thing to spoil the afternoon was the ‘wasp killing ‘ device sat on the table with dead wasps floating in the liquid and one pour soul trying to escape death by drowning . Please stop demonising wasps - scientists agree they are as important as bees to our ecological system and need our protection . I’m sure folk can avoid getting stung without resorting to this contraption .

What a hidden gem, lovely friendly welcome. great coffee always fresh delicious cakes, and to top it off amazing authentic Greek food.
