Words cannot describe how amazing the market for independent bars and breweries. But somehow palmer street bottle stands out among them. The food is fabulous, special shoutout to the sourdough toasties they make. The variation of alcohol on tap is always a keen point that peaks my interest and helps me struggle to make rent at the end of the month as I just must taste all the local and special brews that come through each time I return to Frome. The friends I have now made from the staff and the memories this place now holds is amazing.

High hopes dashed. Front part of the restaurant felt cosy and welcoming but there was no space. Went, instead, up a short step to the middle room , sat outside what turned out to be the toilets. These were used a lot by the other guests and afforded a direct view to inside one of the toilets , not ideal. This table should not be placed there for both the diner and user of toilet, sake. Food: The snack chosen was a charcuterie board, consisting of 6 or 7 tiny pieces of toasted bread and chorizo. Or salami. Hard to tell it was so thin. Very thin chorizo or salami type meat. Very small chorizo or salami There was a small gherkin…whoa, Let’s party! This cost about £8.55. My friend had a cheeseboard which was about £12.50 which was a high price for a cheeseboard but with hopes for quality and quantity for that high price, we said we,d share it if there was too much….. oh what fools… we were! It was early evening so no pressures on the kitchen we thought and so had expected something great. Instead…the cheeses were so minimal, the slices were as thin as the crackers it came with, no joking. THIN as a 2 pence piece, which coincidentally is about what it was worth. The Wedge was about 2 Millimetres thick. (Or thin depending on if you are human or an ant) by 1cm by about 5 cm. It was totally pathetic. Actually it was embarrassing , as if put there as a joke, to get a reaction. There were 3 such tiny limp, pieces of cheese on this “platter”. About a third as much cheese as you get in a half a supermarket meal deal sandwich! Plus a bout 6 plain water thin water crackers, no biscuit thickness, no texture, no relish, no relish no blooming relish…….just plain boring crackers. Frankly this is the worst effort at providing interest, value or taste that I have ever come across. The total price for these two plus a couple of soft drinks was just shy of 30 pounds. For £30.00 in times of sharpened budgets as we are living with, value should be foremost in the goal of the restaurant, cafe or other service providers. That is a very bad value, very bad care, very weak offering. If charging these prices at lest have the grace to forewarn the customer that the portions are minuscule and especially that the cheese is wafer thin. so they can make informed choices. Shall not be back any time soon. If this was my establishment I,d be embarrassed, mortified, and wondering if I was in the right line of business. Come on, this was over £29 ; yes a few limp drabs of schemes and timely slices of cured meat for…..29 pounds. Get real. Await your apology and resolution.

We stopped in for a very quick drink while waiting for some flowers across the road in Bramble and Wild. The selection is short but judiciously selected. We enjoyed an orange Italian wine and a pink lemonade. It is a place to try something different from the usual high street offerings. The service is casual and friendly. The seating inside is limited but there are benches outside when such weather permits. Would definitely come back and definitely recommended.

Spirits - some locally distilled. Retribution Gin 5⭐️'s For wine, the organic range lovely. Aldwick wines available too. Highly recommend Aldwick Jubilate, a beautiful English fizz. Food on offer... oosh, so good. Check out the menu. Palmer Street Bottle (PSB) is a must go-to. We frequent often!

I’ve been a regular for a few years, but I am now sick of being ripped off and not listened to. The place is freezing in winter and roasting in summer. They also sell extremely smelly cheese from the fridge that is open regularly by customers who want a beer. I have seen numerous customers ask why the cheese couldn’t be moved to a different fridge and the excuses from staff range from ridiculous to condescending. The drink prices are exceptionally high, and none of this is put back into the venue, seats are uncomfortable and covered with animal skins which aren’t washed regularly and dogs sit on them too. If you want an unhygienic, overpriced pint, then look no further.

What an amazing discovery in the heart of Frome. 6 (I think) craft keg lines and a great selection of cans and bottles in the fridges. Would love it to have cask but they can't have it all! Dog friendly which to me is key, cozy seating at the front and a nice larger area at the back. What an excellent craft beer (and other things) outlet. Two enthusiastic, convivial, knowledgeable and sociable hosts, serves great beer (on tap - keg but good), as well as cider wines and spirits, and stuff in cans/bottles. I had several glasses of the Kernel Export Stout, and a quick taste of the newly tapped "in house" beer that Nathan had a hand in making (literally). Excellent. They also do a selection of local cheeses to buy, a cheese board and beer/wine sampler to have in the bar, toasties, sausage rolls, and much more. If you're visiting Frome this is the place to be!! Nathan, Henry: keep it up: whatever you're doing works, so don't change it. (Shame about the bloke down the road - you know who I mean!). Will definitely be back to sample more goodies when I find an excuse to return to Frome - even if I have to invent one!

Dropped by here hoping to grab a bite of lunch for my daughter and a pint into the bargain. The young bloke behind the counter couldn't have been less interested in being helpful. I won't go into the detail, but we ended up passing on the food and just having a couple of pints and a soft drink. As I was paying I complimented the chap behind the bar on the quality of their ales (which is their main selling point). He looked at me blankly and stated "Ok. But I have no idea if they're good or not. I don't like beer." Words fail me. Who on god's earth thought that this clown would be an asset to that business.
