This place has recently changed hands and the new owners are also in business marketing wine particularly from South Africa. Our visit were was principally to collect a couple of cases of wine that we had ordered, but whilst we were here as part of our Wells mini break, we decided to have brunch having not breakfasted. Parking is not easy here, the custom seems to be to draw-up right outside on the main road, and park on part of the pavement. There is a car park opposite and to the left about 100 metres away. This café/shop serves the village of Chewton Mendip and, judging by the clientele we saw there, it is well supported by local residents. There appears to be different menus available depending on the day of the week and the time of the day. When we visited the breakfast menu was still in operation and we chose the standard breakfast rather than the larger version. We had 2 rashers of good bacon, a great sausage, a hash brown (which was a tad oily), a well-cooked fried egg, a small (but sufficient) serving of baked beans and a slice of toast made from supermarket bread. At £7.95 this represented excellent value as it was all cooked to order. It was much-enjoyed and made the better because of the sachet of HP Sauce available in the sauces selection. We also bought some good scented candles and had a good peruse of other ‘fancy good/gifts’ and the wine on sale, but in the latter we were seeing if there were some South African wine that we hadn’t tasted from our connection with the wine cellar mentioned earlier. The lady serving was very pleasant and helpful, and we enjoyed our time here.

The Mendip Pantry is doing very well under its friendly new managers. there is a good range of home made food to takeaway and good coffee. It also stocks a good selection of groceries.

I feel obliged to write a review to say the old owner has gone. The place is now clean and refurbished and bears a new name The Mendip Pantry. Its worth a visit. They do takeaways and sell all sorts of things including fresh fruit and veg. The owners seem very pleasant and live in the village.

Everything was dirty, awful food and expensive beyond belief. Empty shelves. Quiite simply, one fo the worst places i have ever visited to eat. I don't know who the owner of this place is but it needs a ggod clean and a new person in charge. Simply dreadful.

5* the owner and his staff are always very welcoming and friendly in UK Kebab. Excellent service. We ordered a mixed kebab, cheesy chips and a pizza all was expected and salad is always fresh with great portion sizes. Meat was tasty, fresh tasting. Pizza went down an absolute treat with my partner. Would recommend ++ Would have added a photo but I demolished it way too quickly! Thankyou !! :)

So I recently had a wedding to attend in Frome, sick of eating the hotel food I googled fish and chips and hey you guys popped up I was so happy and could see your opening times and closing time, I get to your shop at 8.43 and could see the closed sign on the door, you guys had closed up early and were cleaning the shop. What a disappointment this was, if you closing time says 9pm you close at 9pm not 8.30 or 8.40 or 8.45 you close at 9pm!

Went here for my granny’s 90th and they put on a spread for just £18 per person which was amazing for the amount of food that was offered. All sandwiches were delicious and the scotch eggs were delicious. They even brought out extra quiche and scotch eggs mid feast so there were some warm and ready to eat throughout the buffet. The desserts came as a surprise as I had already had my fill but had to make room for the delicious meringue, brownies and scones. Plenty of delicious food and a surplus of leftovers. Very impressed with the whole experience and will be visiting again.
