Ordered cheese chips. Received cheese chips with baked beans on top. Genuinely baffled.

Cash only!! Clear tax dodgers Long wait for sausage to be cooked Chips minging I'll be going elsewhere during my 3 week stay in the area

Really Disappointed. Fancied a takeaway for a Saturday night tea but wish I hadn't. Chips were stale, dry & tasteless like they'd been reheated. Asked for Salt & Vinegar but there was barley anything on there, probably the dry chips that soaked the vinegar up like a sponge. I also had a burger which was ok but the bun was like cardboard. They also don't take card which I find very odd & unnecessary. Come on guys it's 2024 & you're running a business in a thriving town like Frome how have you not got a card machine!? One positive thing I'd say is they have done a nice renovation to the front & inside since their unfortunate window incident.

This is a pretty decent chippie if you're in the area and it does have the advantage of a captive audience! Our chips were hot and nicely cooked so none were wasted. Beware though that this is a cash only establishment which is surprising but at least there's an ATM next door.

Had to take chips back as they was raw, chips are too thick to cook, not boiling them before cooking, not double frying them, got second batch of chips and still raw

It is a load of Codswallop !!! Very well named We had a reasonably large order and was told CASH ONLY a total waste of time !! It doesn't say CASH ONLY on the door or window they expect customers to quiew up and order only to be refused and have to go outside and find a cash machine !! In this day and age it's just turning business away !! So they honestly respecting customers to carry cash when our government and society wants a cashless society My advise is AVOID unless you have loads of CASH !!!!!!!!

Best chipy in frome at the moment any how

My chicken burger tonight was awful. Normally spot on but hideous. Lettuce onion and mayo I asked for. The bun was hard. It was clearly stale and been put on a griddle or toasted to try and bring it to life.

The best gluten free fish & Chips I ever had!!!

All round 5 stars from me, I had the Jumbo and chips and one of the best fish suppers I've had in years. Well cooked and fresh piece of cod, crispy batter not greasy (considering cooked in a fryer) and lovely chips, light and crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. Great staff, very polite (even when I didn't read a sign saying cash only 🤦) even carried on with my order while I went a draw out money (most places would wait for you to come back with cash) I would definitely make the trip to get these. Best I've found around and I'm mainly in Bath.

Just had a faggot meal from there and it was absolutely disgusting, one of the worst takeaways I've ever had, even the dog wouldn't eat it, service poor in there also. Would not recommend this place.

Ordered cheese burger and beef burger. There was no cheese on the cheese burger. The rolls were stale and so much for the salad!! We said no salt and vinegar on the chips and they put salt and vinegar on. The onion rings we had looked like they were from lunchtime! The poor young girls were running around like headless chickens trying to serve everyone with no help!! Very disappointed. Won't return in a hurry.

Lovely food, if you time it right! We’ve found that if you get there just after they open in the evening the chips are horrid. Seem to be the leftover lunchtime chips re-heated!! Cod is lovely, no skin, light crispy batter. However I do wish they would update their price list as it says cod is £4.40 yet we were charged £5.10 last time we had some. Still cheaper than other chippies in Frome though.

The food is generally decent enough but only accepting cash is archaic.

I hate to leave a poor review of a local business however too many times the customer service has been to awful with exceptionally long waits, and items missing from order. Tonight I waited 25mins for a small order with an almost empty shop. People received freshly cooked orders before us. Eventually after 25mins I had to leave and was told it was because the sausage I ordered had to be 'freshly cooked'. I was not informed of this wait time and assumed it would not take half an hour to cook a sausage. Especially since the store was quiet and owner was standing around chatting the entire time. Eventually got a refund on the sausage and left, only to have cold, stall, inedible chips missing the gravy I ordered. I will be travelling across town from now on.

Nice chips but service can be slow

Picked up fish and chips on a Friday night. It was the best that I've ever eaten. Light crispy batter, sweet cod that fell apart into medallions, and tasty chips. An extremely satisfying meal and worth the money.

Simply put, the food is good. Tasty chip shop food. Their triple burgers are my personal favourite. The style of the place has improved since the refurbishment and appears very clean. Their kids meals are also well presented and at a good price. However, 3 times now food has been forgotten from our order. After walking 2 miles there and back to get it, waiting 20 minutes outside the shop, with a child with Autism, it is really frustrating. “Why don’t you check it?” I hear you ask, well, the person handing the food to me repeated the order to me. So I assumed the service was correct in putting in what they had on the list. Shame on me for not triple checking, but I am sick of people taking this for the “standard” and blaming customers for not checking what was allegedly checked by businesses that specialise in this. 3/5 is fair in my view, if their service was consistently correct I would likely give them a 4/5. And if they also accepted card payments maybe even a 5/5

Although I live close by I used to avoid Codwallop because their chips weren't great. This has completely changed now, and it's my preferred chippy. They've done a great job of keeping going during the pandemic too.

I love this place. The batter is consistently light and crispy and more importantly there is never skin on the cod. Codswallop also make incredible burgers which you might not think to try at this quality local favourite chip shop. Highly recommended!!

Great little chippy! (Love the name!)We fed 2 adults and 2 kids for under a tenner! Staff were friendly and it was a 5 min drive from our hotel (Frome Flyer) so when the Beefeater was overbooked this Chip Shop was our saviour! Nice food great service and very quick!

The fish and chips are great, as are the burgers. While I personally like chips very slightly crispier than they tend to be here, they're not far off. No complaints at all about the beef burgers, and veggie burgers, but the chicken burgers aren't amazing quality. The fish is excellent. Good variety of sides (I am partial to their onion rings). All in all, very reasonably priced, for a decent standard. I would prefer it if there were some chairs to sit and wait for rather than stand. As the food is cooked fresh, there is always a wait.
