Whilst doing some last minute Christmas shopping popped in to Costa
Enjoyed a perfect coffee , superb hot chocolate and delicious mince pie
Everything perfect
Despite being busy the staff were polite professional and welcoming
Manager Radu ensured that everyone felt special and valued
He’s an absolute asset to Costa - I hope he stays in Exeter
We were visiting Exeter for a few day to celebrate my 60th birthday, yesterday
For some reason the restaurant we had booked was closed , the seconded, Harry’s was fully booked. So remember my shares. Free drink and being really hungered by then we went into your Exeter branch. Bar guy was great while I found new site for details. Ordered burger fries and onion rings for hubby I just asked for chips, cheese and bacon. The bar was almost empty. When the food came. No fries for my husband My fries were stone cold I sent them back. To which the waitress tutted at me . My husband had almost finished his burger but stopped eating so we would be eating at the same time . Fries arrive. Absolutely swimming in cheese all stuck together. And 3. Yes just 3 small cut up pieces of bacon. It was not even a 1/4 of a rasher. I eat some as I was so hungery but left most of it.

Mothers day menu had 3 meat main courses and no fish option - vegetarian option was roast cauliflower and the starter was cauliflower soup. Staff were very helpful but service was very slow. The roast was overcooked and the cauliflower was burnt. The roast potatoes were overdone and all the veg overcooked and limp. Overall the food quality was extremely poor. The staff accepted this and said that only one "chef" was working that day.
The wine waiter did not show me the bottle to check it was correct and did not offer the wine to be tasted before slopping it into our glasses.
We sent back the food, paid for the drinks and left.
Very disappointing.
My husband lost his wallet in Exeter so the following day we returned to places we had visited to ask if it had been handed in. The staff at Samuel Jones had found our wallet, kept it and also tried to trace us. It’s lovely to find such honesty and we are extremely grateful.
Thank you Samuel Jones staff.
Went here a couple of weeks ago on Saturday afternoon. Ordered a tea and it was fine. Sadly, I found the staff a bit rude. The name on the cup was wrong, and although I didn't mind that at all, when I mentioned it (because I was worried I had taken someone else's drink) the lady serving was quite obnoxious and sarcastic. I had been polite myself. When I went to the table to have the drink, I could hear the man working on the till complaining that i had mentioned this, in a way that made me feel I was being made fun of. I wouldn't go here again and it doesn't surprise me that this place has the lowest reviews I've ever seen on here.
We've been here a few times just for drinks and it's very nice. This time I booked a table before an evening out, specifically to share the cheese and meat platters (advertised on the website), along with our wine so we weren't drinking on an empty stomach.
When we arrived at 5pm we were told the platters were not available. Apparently they are very rarely available, we were told. Please do not advertise something that you cannot deliver.
Because of this we stayed for one drink then went and had food elsewhere. You missed out on around £100 of spending over a couple of hours.
Amazing food and lovely, helpful staff. The staff were very accommodating. Wonderful place. Been here 2 times already since opening and would strongly reccomend.
Dreadful! Plenty of staff but no one seemed to know what they were doing. They couldn't find a clean glass for my drink. Very limited food. Took 30 minutes to make cheesy chips and when we got it, it was 80%cheese and the chips weren't cooked.
Coffee was lukewarm. Tea was in a dirty cup. Cutlery covered in food.
Sandwich was stale.
Staff surly, uninterested and struggled to understand basic English.
Ordered through Deliveroo. Took nearly 2 hours.
All food stone cold.
Hamburger sat so long at shop the ketchup had completely dried into the bun. Bun on big mac was almost black.
Missed out a drink. Terrible.
Went here whilst on holiday and it’s the worst for service. The food was hot and the lovely lady clearing tables was wonderful but that’s it.
The queue for the order machines was huge and there must have been 20 people waiting. You can’t pay cash at the machines and so you had to queue again at the counter. At least 7 people ordered after me but got their order before me.
Wouldn’t recommend
I ordered breakfast off them at 10 and was left waiting for half an hour sat next to the workers. I was about to approach because all the workers seemed to be standing around doing nothing while we were waiting. When they call our food as being done just to tell me they stopped serving breakfast HALF AND HOUR ago. While I did request a refund service was terrible there was nothing stopping any worker approaching us to say they were unable to make our food rather than leaving us sat waiting. The manager was no help and had to wait for him to refund me and the staff were useless!
