Since September me and my friends have all gone to this Wetherspoons and the other ones in the surrounding area and have never had an issue about our age(us being in college, ages 16-18). Today me and a group of my friends wanted to go out for a meal as it was one of my friends 17th birthday. We were sat outside in a quiet area with no one around. Without greeting us, a member of staff demanded to see our ID. We questioned her as to why as we were not ordering alcohol and had been there multiple times without it being an issue. Quite rudely, she said it was a rule and if we didn’t provide ID of being 16 or one of us 18 we would have to leave the premises. The majority of us had our IDs but some didn’t. Those that didn’t showed our college ID and photos of our passport but that was unacceptable. We had to leave. As we were walking out, she followed us close behind and made some rude remarks. I understand if this is a rule however there was no need to be so rude and ignorant.

Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, lots of space, wheelchair and pram friendly (apart from the front doors to get in) Food is tasty and cheap. Beer garden is nicely done up. Parking is a nightmare unless you want to pay £4.30 for a minimum or 2hours.

Visited this pub with my partner for lunch and drinks. Ordered via the app and the drinks took 25 minutes to come and a further 5 minute wait for the food. When the food came it was cold. We were also sat outside in the non smoking area where someone was smoking. We told staff about the cold food and person smoking but they done nothing and when I asked for the manager, I was told they were busy. We got a full refund eventually and I also asked that they provide us with a free meal voucher as a gesture of goodwill. More a hope than expectation. I then received an email from Wetherspoons saying that I am now no longer welcome in that pub due to my behaviour! It’s mental. I’m barred for asking for something, not for being violent or causing a disturbance. It’s no issue for me as I don’t line in Exeter, but won’t be spending my money in another Wetherspoons again. I’d rather get a meal deal from Tesco.

Don't eat there much nowadays as the clientele has gone downhill a lot, especially 1st thing/mid morning, Our last visit a week ago was not a pleasant one due to the fact that upstairs was shut for a private venue?? Now I've never heard it goes private well not 11am morning leading up to dinner rush, Most downstairs seating was occupied by big noisy groups or the individual taking up a table designed for 4/6 people, No not my cup of tea anymore

Great location for a Spoons if you're out and about in Exeter as it's very close to the main shopping area (although there are plenty more charity and independent shops close by). The food can be a bit hit and miss. We've had warm bread instead of toast, dry cold lumps of porridge but they can do decent food now and again .. and we go back as it's convenient if you want something cheap to eat around Exeter city centre. As always, the coffee/tea/hot chocolate is a bargain (drink as much as you want for £1.71!). The tables can be a bit sticky so don't lean too much! The staff are always friendly though and they have loos there too.

BBQ Chicken melt was dry and jacket potato overcooked in the microwave the skin was inedible and the potato looked like it had been stepped on. Stopped in The Chevalier for a few drinks at the start of our night out and everything was pretty good so decided to return for breakfast the following morning…shouldn’t have. Four adults in our group, 1 ordered a vegetarian breakfast while 3 built our own using the extras. It was quite busy so understand the bit of a wait for food to arrive. I also understand the kitchen staff didn’t realise the breakfasts made up from the extras were for more than one person so were all put on 1 plate. We asked for a couple of extra plates, but had to wait ages for them whilst the food was going cold on the table in front of us. Eventually, 2 small teaplates were brought out to us to fit our food on. We asked for 2 larger plates only to be told we probably wouldn’t get them as kitchen wouldn’t be happy if they had to send out more plates. After a few more minutes the larger plates were given, but the food was now very cold. We ate it as we were hungry, but won’t go back again.

She then took their orders, walked to the other end of the bar where she proceeded to blatantly moan about the couple and laugh with colleagues about the couple being annoyed. Walked back to the couple and served them from the till she said was broken. Of thise colleages she ridiculed the customers with, one of them was serving, the other was doing nothing, despite several other people waiting to be served. They forgot my order until I told them and they got the wrong drink, also pretty sure I saw a rat crawling on the kitchen floor

Our first time trying Five Guys and it was amazing! The food was so, so good. Loved you could build your own burger and our cashier Owen H was brilliant. Really informative but also really lovely!
