Starbucks in Exeter

Went here a couple of weeks ago on Saturday afternoon. Ordered a tea and it was fine. Sadly, I found the staff a bit rude. The name on the cup was wrong, and although I didn't mind that at all, when I mentioned it (because I was worried I had taken someone else's drink) the lady serving was quite obnoxious and sarcastic. I had been polite myself. When I went to the table to have the drink, I could hear the man working on the till complaining that i had mentioned this, in a way that made me feel I was being made fun of. I wouldn't go here again and it doesn't surprise me that this place has the lowest reviews I've ever seen on here.

I went to this Starbucks looking for a sweet and yummy hot chocolate. however, was very upset to find out that my hot chocolate was not made to my standard. they said they had no dairy milk. but said they had skimmed??? my hot chocolate consists of milk, cream and a cup......not happy about this. be careful when you order a hot chocolate. especially if its in-between a study break during exam week, this can ruin a day.

I've started appreciating Starbucks a lot after some bad experiences with coffee in the recent years. While it's nice to explore new cafes, Starbucks gives you the reassurance of the quality - a place to go for if you need a decent cup of coffee!

Not a big fan of the tuna panini (too much mayo and not enough tuna) but the ham and cheese one has been discontinued. Jack was very friendly and helpful on the till. Clean Starbucks (relatively) and toilets were clean (yay!!).

Overall my every day drink neve taste same quality is out of the picture for starbucks , customer service is way too low closed my account today due to being insualted by customer service. I spoke with supervisor and brought it to her attention . Overall horrible 😞

Omg the service is sooo bad , between ordering a medium latte & fruit toast to have must’ve been almost 1/2 hr !!! I sent toast back to be done again as it gone cold whilst waiting for coffee …. Doesn’t seem to be any urgency to get customers orders done, no communication or support between team members

I came here to write a poor review but seeing how many other bad reviews it has I am trying to be nice by rating 'average'. The wait was long, which was partly due to the time it takes to make the hot drinks (maybe invest in another machine and an extra barista?) and also I think inexperienced staff. One person was clearing tables extremely slowly and a pile up of paper cups was left for 15 minutes or more before someone tidied them away. The nice bit - I quite enjoyed my drink and snack when it finally arrived

Went in to get a quick double espresso and it took 15 minutes! Barista making mistakes on few drinks, our ticket lost at the end, no real support from other team members to ensure quick service during lunch hours. This is not Starbucks standard! That is why we always go to local private caffe, because they care!

Strawberry and cream frappe used to be absolutely megga, I’m pretty sure they used to use fresh strawberries years ago and now they’ve chopped the ingredients right down so it’s just milk with a bit of concentrated strawberry juice in. They taste crap now. I’ve noticed a lot of cut backs and Starbucks seem to just employ a lot of young staff who 9 times out of 10 have no social skills and get your order wrong. EVERY single time I’ve been to Starbucks this year my order has been wrong. Sorry, was a massive fan of Starbucks but losing interest with them now

Disgustingly rude staff! I have been a loyal customer of Starbucks for years in Singapore and worldwide. Touched down Hamburg and felt bit cold, ordered a hot tall Americano for myself and requested for 2 small cups of hot water, as husband was feeling nauseous and only want some hot water. To my horror, I was being charged €1.38 for 2 small cups of hot water. The staff even raised his voice at me to demand payment if I want to have them, as I mentioned I had never been charged for hot water in Starbucks all my life as a customer, in Singapore as well as other countries such as NY, Barcelona, Paris, etc. Clearly there is no written price on the menu board with price of hot water and he had charged me under “brewed refill”. What a horrible experience as a tourist, with such rude staff! Do come to Singapore and experience good Asian hospitality.

Horrible service, disgusting coffee. I don’t plan to come back. I always come here for frappuccino coffee but now it taste different and definitely not better.

Just visited Starbucks exeter and will not be going back. It needs a good clean,had cigarette butts on the carpet going in and could have had a brush around the floor and tables wiped!!!! Couldn't drink my coffee as couldn't see if the cups were clean. Will NOT be going back.

If you want a quick coffee this is convenient and on a par with the many other local offerings It can be busy.

Had a horrible experience with the barista who I assume was the manager. My friend stepped back to let someone through and his backpack accidentally knocked over some metal cups. The manager gave us extremely rude attitude for something that was unintentional, stating that he had just ruined £100 worth of products, before even checking if they had been damaged. Starbucks’s net worth is $110 billion, I don’t think a few cups will damage their company. The first rule of customer service is that the customer is always right, and this level of atrocious service is why we won’t be going back to this particular Starbucks.

Xmas Truffle hot chocolate is just their regular hot choc. No chocolate whipped cream and no sprinkles shown in picture. Also very tasteless, no sweet chocolatey taste. Defunct not worth almost £4.

Just like Costa, Starbucks is just another coffee shop chain. The coffee was average. Service was prompt. Atmosphere lacking. This is due largely to the COVID 19 situation. Dreadful piped muzak pumping out reggae of all things. A very average experience.

I went into this Starbucks since they were taking part in the Eat Out To Help out offer. I went in and it was not too busy. I ordered a Medium Mocha Frappicino which would normally cost £3.80. With the offer it was £1.90 which is a bargain for a Starbucks drink.

It has been 5 months since the last time I visited Starbucks, time flies so fast. Quickly grabbed a cup Strawberries and Cream Frappuccino (£3.85) - one of my favourite iced blended drinks in this coffee chain. I especially enjoy the strawberry puree sauce they use, it is pretty good without being too syrupy. Don’t forget to add a swirl of whipping cream since it makes the drink even more delicious and creamy. Also a plus when they change to use the paper straws instead of the plastic one

Hoy 8 de febrero Mi familia y amigos (8 de nosotros) decidimos reunirnos en Baker Street e ir a la sucursal de Starbucks para tomar un café y algo de comer a las 6:50 pm llegamos a la tienda y 2 de nosotros bajamos las escaleras para el área de configuración se llevará a cabo para sentarse y los demás fueron a pedir comida y café, ¡pero literalmente hemos sido expulsados de la tienda diciendo que el área de configuración cerrará a las 6 pm! ! ! !En el horario de apertura de la puerta estaba mostrando que la tienda cerrará a las 10 p.m. ! ! !Servicio al cliente repugnante, todos estábamos decepcionados y eso arruinó nuestra noche caminando para encontrar otra cafetería para tomar un buen café.¡Por favor, el equipo de Starbucks mira este repugnante servicio al cliente! ! !Gracias

Estaba tan ocupado y no parecía haber suficiente personal trabajando o suficientes sillas y mesas en la cafetería para la cantidad de personas. Esperamos mucho tiempo para que llegara nuestro café, sin embargo, nunca me puedo quejar del café o la comida de Starbucks. Simplemente no volvería a este Starbucks.

Navidad como llegó. . . . . agradecemos que esperemos más tiempo pero no hay suficiente personal, esperamos un rato y luego las bebidas salieron una por una, así que cuando nos sentamos a la mesa, las bebidas no estaban calientes y luego el joven usó sus dedos para limpiar la taza, ya que estaba goteando. Sin sonrisas ni disculpas. Muy decepcionante.

Pasamos por 2 chocolates calientes y un frappachino para mis hijos, ya que son fanáticos de Starbucks.El lugar estaba limpio, tenía excelentes habilidades de servicio al cliente y también estaba ocupado, aunque no fue un problema, y el personal no tardó en superar los grandes pedidos.

Este ha mejorado, uno de los mejores en el suroeste, la tienda estaba limpia y había muchos empleados que estaban ocupados haciendo su trabajo y brindando un buen servicio para todos. Vinimos a tomar una copa antes de visitar el cine, justo a tiempo antes de que cerraran. Estaba muy ocupado, pero el personal era excelente.Ahora, Starbucks ha dejado de hacer sus lattes gratis con la compra de su café molido de los supermercados, lo cual es decepcionante, por lo que es posible que no estemos visitando tanto ya que no hay muchas tiendas limpias para elegir.

Starbucks don't solicit direct feedback so it goes here. A warmed tuna ciabatta, dry and chewy at the same time whith an almost imperceptible filling. I really must make more effort when finding a lunch snack venue.

Nhân dịp mùa Giáng sinh, Starbucks cho ra mắt hàng loạt thức uống mới, trong số đó còn có những món đã xuất hiện từ năm ngoái luôn rồii ^^ nay mình thử Christmas Brulee Latte vì cái tên mang đậm dấu ấn Giáng sinh, nguyên chữ “Christmas” còn gì hớp thử một ngụm mà vị cà phê espresso thơm lừng khắp trong miệng, không bị đắng quá mà ngọt nhẹ nhàng, vừa phải. Ngoài ra, cà phê còn có cả vị beo béo nhờ kết hợp với eggnog từ sữa và trứng. Đương nhiên không thể thiếu một lớp whipping cream bông xốp với đường vụn được khò vàng rắc phía trên trông đẹp mắt cực ^^ ai mà thích ngọt giống mình thì sẽ tù tì múc kem với đường ăn chung không thể quên khen Red Cup năm nay cũng xinh xắn nữa, chụp hình tấm nào là ưng tấm đó. The venue was cold, and more like a school canteen, not at all cosy. The service was extremely slow and having asked for a very hot latte, it was barely hot and I did not have the time or patience to return it for re-heating. I have never tasted such bitter coffee in Starbucks before and I will have to be pretty desperate to go to Starbucks again, this has really put me off!

Staff are rude. Don't greet on arrival or leaving. Disgusting . Dirty and overpriced. Cup only half full.. ripoff. Don't bother unless you are absolutely desperate. Go over to WH Smith opposite.

Starbucks are generally know for being unclean, this one wasn't too bad. I do like their coffee, it is consistent to taste and the measures are always the same. Starbucks Management need to take note that the majority of their stores are unclean and lack management and that there doesn't appear to be many Starbucks in the South West that people like for these reasons! If I didn't get free vouchers, I wouldn't set foot in these. This store wasn't too bad, managed to get a seat by the window that was clean

My go too coffee place! Brilliant variety of drinks and I love the mini ham and cheese toasties! I even get ketchup when I request it. Lovely staff and quick service :) Recommend strongly :)

Better places for a coffee in town but Starbucks was one of the first. Usually full of people on laptops who linger over a coffee. Better venues across the road

Despite some reviews here, had lovely sunshiny smile & welcome from a lass about 7:35 this morning. Makes all the difference when you're greeted with this. 😊 thank you smiley lass

Walked into this dark dingy Starbucks, queued, ordered 2 muffins, a cold bottled drink and an americano with pouring cream. Received everything apart from coffee waited alone for 5 minutes (nobody else waiting) to be served a large (i asked for medium) sickly looking coffee with the cream already poured into the cup. I didnt have time to deal with the rude member of staff that slammed it down onto the counter. We drank our drinks and ate our muffins and left never to return. Later that day I developed a really horrible stomach upset, I had only consumed food & drink from that Starbucks so I can only assume something in there was not good. The place was disgusting and filthy, I would never return. Starbucks SERIOUSLY?? Up your game, the competition is too high. Shut down or clean up your act!!

I like Starbucks coffee but it is far too expensive. This Starbucks interior is very basic and I don't think I'll be returning!

Non avevo mai visitato un bar Starbucks ma, convinto dalla grande fama che ha raggiunto nel mondo per le sue bevande, ho deciso di testarlo in un viaggio ad Exeter. è stata una delle peggiori esperienze che ho avuto sia per quanto riguarda il prezzo che il servizio ricevuto.

I have visited this coffee shop twice over the festive period at different times of the day. Staff very friendly and polite. Orders taken promptly,but the wait for drinks to be prepared was not acceptable. I had a pot of tea given to me and then waited a further 10 minutes for coffee.......However,the coffee was good and hot.

Went in, ordered a hot chocolate, 10 minutes later, still waiting, there were several 'kids' behind the counter, obviously staff but messing about, one guy was making drinks. Pricey for what I ordered, £3 for a hot chocolate, no cream or extras either. Toilets filthy, got a refund just as the drink was ready. Didn't bother as I had to get home. Didn't seem happy about giving me a refund either. I will avoid this in future.

Popped into starbucks for a light lunch. Great range of sandwiches and toasties on offer. Staff were quick and efficient.

We called in for a morning coffee, tea and snack.

Stopped in for a coffee and cake with my girlfriend. Thought this would be a nice treat and the service is quick and polite. But the restaurant is tired and dark. The only free table needed cleaning. Otherwise the usual high standard from the major chain.

So one morning I went to get a cup of coffee to starbucks, and I was surprised how the girl who was taking the coffee order was talking to me, very rude, wasn't listening at first, I get the wrong coffee also, on her badge was "AGA" or something like that, honestly is not that how customer service and hospitality works.

This starbucks was in a great location and had plenty of space and a good seating area. It's clean and the staff are friendly. I'd definitely come back here.

I had a hot chocolate and a pain au chocolat for breakfast. The hot chocolate was quite sickly (even without the marshmallows) and expensive for what it was but that's what I've come to expect. The pain au chocolate was very over priced and didn't taste very fresh at all.

Writing this review for the other Starbucks with a drive through on alphington road, near marsh Barton, used the drive through and I was greeted by a lovely lady called sally. She was very accommodating and smiling, made my day, she was very helpful and must make lots of customers very happy

Awful staff, cold coffee, will not be returning to this store, untrained staff that were more intim chatting than helping customers

Second time in 3 days I come in this Starbucks. In both occasion I only had some food warmed up so I can't talk about the quality of drinks.

Horrible vibe in this Starbucks. Kind of dirty, staff a bit clueless and generally disinterested. I love going to Starbucks but this must be the worst one I've ever been too. And I've been in many Starbucks around the world.

Run down and rather dirty and worn out , needs refurbished .Drinks were rather tepid , crushed out with baby prams and very young children .

Decided to have a pick me up coffee this morning. A Starbucks was opposite so why not. Bad idea.

Came in here as me and my partner wanted a Christmas hot drink. After queuing for a while and paying for my drinks and cake, I was then handed a takeaway cup with no lid, nothing on the cream (like the decorations in the photos) and the cake in a bag, with no cutlery. I then said I asked for the drinks to be to sit in, to then be told the 'dish washer ain't working'. Well perhaps a sign would of been nice, or to be told this before I paid. Did not pay nearly 14 pounds for drinks in plastic cups and cakes in a bag?! Ridiculous won't be going here again. Lattes were cold and flavourless. Since then I have visited costa and it was so much better. Avoid Starbucks and go there instead you won't be disappointed!

Staff with attitude, the place needs a deep clean and possible more staff (without attitude) to keep the queues down and keep the place clean. the same goes for the Starbucks at Exeter St Davids station. Both awful.

Had an Earl Grey and a Baguette, very impressed, clean and tidy and not too busy. Would recommend to anyone

Stopped for a coffee before attending a business meeting. While the coffee was nice the tables were dirty and litter on tables and floor. A trip to the toilets was aborted as they were dirty, there was soiled clothing on the floor and no toilet paper. Ok for take away coffee but not for using the café and facilities.

Centrally positioned in the City, this branch carries all the usual Starbucks range. Friendly, efficient staff make this a good quick stop when shopping. There is a large seating area in the back to recharge whilst using the free wifi.

They can't make tea the cups are filthy the floor is disgusting and the toilet look like it belongs in a bus station will need to scrub clean after leaving here it is a health hazard. Stay away if you value your health!

It's ok if you want a plain drink but don't bother with their smoothies. You walk in and there are huge advertisements for Berrie Yogurt smoothies so I go to order one to be told "oh we've stopped those" well why do you still have signs for them then? Get tape and cross it out. Ordered two different drinks in the same order and there was a 5 minute gap between them when we were the only ones in the queue. Used to love this place but now not so sure

Asked for a chicken salad and a double espresso macchiato and got limp brown lettuce with a weak diluted coffee. Wrong all round really.

Stopped off in here for a coffee and a cookie. The lady behind the till was very friendly and took my order efficiently. My coffee was served quickly in a nice big Starbucks mug which I liked. I sat at the back of the cafe. It lacked atmosphere though. Also there was an issue with the floor it had become uneven and looked very untidy.

Always seem to stop here whenever we're in Exeter. It's fast and efficient and I really like their marmite and cheese bap. Their coffee good too.

Coffee was standard quality but very expensive for a big standard coffee. The cafe was dirty and even though it was quiet the tables weren't cleared and ours was sticky. This was pleasant however compared to the state of the toilets. The smell was so disgusting that I am glad I went on my way out, as I would've walked out without finishing my coffee otherwise. It was enough to make you gag. I definitely would never go here again and if this is a standard Starbucks I am surprised they have any customers at all.

I had a hot chocolate at the Exeter St Davids Starbucks and was charged extra for Soya milk - something I don't usually have to pay extra for back in Bath. I politely told the lady serving me that I thought this was awful, and she agreed but said it's company policy. I've complained about it on the website but no-one ever got back to me.

Yummy hot chocolate with a still warm cookie, friendly and very quick service. No complaints, will visit again.

My flat white was lukewarm. After I pointed this out I was told that this is how it should be served and if I wanted it hot I should have a latte. Unbelievable.

You'd think that ordering a clearly labelled Croque Monsiuer is easy.

Unfriendly stuff i visited very early morning when i waited for my bus. Only one customer was in, so I decided I can come in. I ordered my latte and barista started doing coffe. She made it for first customer but she ignored me and went to customer who just came in took ordef for him and started doing panini for him after that she came back to me.

Best coffee around. Gingerbread latte is by far better than anywhere else. Quick and fast service. Nothing was too much trouble :)

I think they were 'training' new staff as the guy at the till was very slow and wouldn't give me eye contact or acknowledge me for ages. It felt really awkward. The coffee is delicious but a quick smile or a hello goes a long way.

Walked into the Starbucks at Exeter St David's station. No queue. Ordered two drinks and a cake. Half the café was portioned off at 7pm with still uncleared tables. Found one empty table which I had to wipe down and remove dirty cups and litter whilst the staff chatted and did nothing

I visited the high street cafe twice recently with my toddler. Neither time was busy and so I was served quickly and the coffee was good. Unfortunately, on both occasions however I felt the staff were not particularly friendly or helpful

Clean and tidy with sockets to charge your phone but that's the only thing I found good to say about this Starbucks. The staff are very unwelcoming wanted a cold drink and was met with sigh when I asked what a certain Mango drink as I was not certain

commuting ino Exeter ever day, i thought that starbucks opening at the station would be a nice way ro break the morning up. Wrong. On two occasions i ordered a take away tea and was given 3/4 of a cup (and that included my milk). The first time i complained, the second i gave up and have not been back since.

My wife and I went in the one at St Davids Railway Station. Wife ordered breakfast sandwiches and two coffees. Staff could not understand English and mostly ignored her or did not speak. Place to avoid if possible.

Whatever has happened to the quality of Starbucks??! It used to be great.....

if this is how stabucks is , we will never go near one again. i placed an order for two coffees and two danish pastries. after i had received the coffees , i waited for the danish's. the "barrista" served several other people as i waited , staring through me for a good while , she eventually asked if i was waiting for another drink , i replied with what i was still waiting for. the girl who had served me called cross stating that it would be one and a half minutes , which i thought rather precise and odd at the same time. i was then presented with two toasted teacakes! by now my coffee was getting cold and i was getting hot! i went to our table and the danish's were brought to us with a cursory apology. a customer opposite was approached with the teacakes but they had cocked his order up too. it cant be rocket science , can it? the place itself it pretty grotty , I assume the cobwebs in the single toilet will be spayed gold and used as xmas decorations , not so sure about the overflowing bin though. this really was the coffee world equivalent of a mcdonalds , grimness for the masses!!

The 3 girls who served me were lovely I'm unsure of their names. But it was the evening of 4th march. Would absolutely recommend it to a friend.

I was served by a man who was polite enough and my drink was made fast and was well made, the staff however ruined any enjoyment by acting as though they were chatting in their kitchen at home, shouting and laughing, ruining any quiet time people wanted as they could be heard across the cafe. They talked and shouted very loudly about things I didnt want to be hearing about of their social life and when it was time to close the area of the cafe I was sat in, a blond girl working there decided to bellow across the cafe floor to her colleague that the cafe was closing and we needed to leave, leaving us to squeeze past a barrier they had made so people couldn't get in. They would probably be more suited to working in Mosaic. I will be going to Costa next time where their staff are professional and polite.

As ever, the Starbucks coffee is fine, but that's all that is good about this place. The entrance mat is embedded with chewing gum, the floor throughout is dirty. The toilets are appalling. A Starbucks poster on the wall is peeling at the edge. Yuk. The whole place is dingy and dirty. Not nice.
