We were staying at The Indigo Hotel and booked into Colsons on the Friday evening.
We decided to have a cocktail at the bar before our meal and was told we needed to visit the rooftop bar for cocktails ! How ridiculous.
We entered the restaurant and there were another 4 people dining when we arrived plus another 4 people arrived whilst we were eating. That’s a total of ten people all night.
Service was ok ! Nothing special. Food was quite nice but nothing to rave about.
We visited this restaurant when it opened a few years ago, it was buzzing and the grills were being used. What’s happened ?
The staff seemed dis interested and not bothered. We watched a reception clear the tables, whilst the bar staff stood chatting.
The following day we had tea in the bar area. The service was so slow, the tea cups and tea pot were both very stained with chips on one of the tea pots.
Such a shame that a once vibrant place was empty.
We booked for Sunday evening but b as see on our Friday night experience we cancelled and went elsewhere.
Such a shame, surely the management can see what’s happening?
Popped on before 11.00am and got a breakfast baguette (including 4 fillings) and coffee for £4.50. Both were delicious. Bakery staff knowledgeable and friendly. Clean premises and all food nicely displayed. Would definitely recommend and use again.
One of the biggest Wetherspoons in the UK. This one near the main railway station. Usual JDW fare plus an extensive range of real ales (discovered afterwards the local CAMRA group pub of the year 2025). Converted luxury house / hotel with nice interor and huge beer garden. We had fish and chips, which were very good, as were the drinks.
The only slight drawback was it filled with students from the neighbouting university later on and the resulting noise made conversation difficult.
Ordered a simple order chicken balls egg fried rice special chow Mein ( no veg ) the food turned up chow Mein full of veg and chicken balls that could cause a pothole if dropped. Called the restaurant and there response was I will re-cook it this time and then you won’t get no service from us ever again 🤣 DISGUSTING FOOD EQUALLY DISGUSTING CUSTOMER SERVICE AVOID AT ALL COSTS MUCH BETTER AROUND !!!!
AVOID AT ALL COST - if you want food
After booking a table for 4 on Monday 22nd Aug for brunch we arrived to be told sorry, the waitress had sent back the wrong card machine and they were closed.
We rebooked for Tuesday 23rd Aug arrived again after parking in town for 2 days, to be told, sorry we have no water today. We have closed the kitchen. You can imagine my disappointment 2 days on the trott, what a way to run a business. The manager was basically saying tough there is nothing I can do about it. Terrible attitude rude and no help what so ever. Good luck if you go for food.
I booked Exe Restaurant for my Birthday dinner with twelve of my friends. After visiting the first time for a Sunday and receiving such amazing food and service, I knew we had to book it for my 25th Birthday. We had the most amazing evening, the food and service was impeccable. They even went to the extra effort of decorating the table and making it feel super special for my friends and I. Thus is one of my favourite restaurants in Exeter and if your looking for somewhere where the food is amazing and you feel really well looked after this place is for you. The staff are amazing, so friendly and helpful. They really do go that extra mile so thank you so much for having us. We can’t wait to come back.
Quirky little cafe tucked away near the Cathedral green. Had a lovely goats cheese and onion toastie, the sourdough was excellent! Also a decent sized tea pot which is always a bonus.
Staff were very friendly and had a little chat when we left about where to go out and about in Exeter.
Fricking awesome / Give Libby a pay rise / Out of 10 I’d give Libby 1 / Number 1 hot spot for a great time / The music and sound system is hands down the best in Exeter
We visited for a roast and so, so glad we did. Absolutely incredible food, the pub is gorgeous and so cosy and the staff were so friendly. The atmosphere was really lovely too. Definitely a top spot for a roast in the South West, will be back very soon!
