We think this restaurant/cafe must have changed hands recently as it’s not as good as it was. The staff are pleasant, but that’s about the only positive thing I can say. We arrived early so it wasn’t at all busy. Despite this, our breakfasts took an age to arrive and when they did they were lukewarm. Won’t return.
Lovely place to go and nice cappucino. So lovely that you have your food/drinks without dogs barking or bothering you as the dogs are in the outside porch area.
Sea front just across the road although not visible from the cafe.
Comfy lounge and chairs and an altogether pleasant visit. Not overepriced.
I thought the coffee here was great.
I have one criticism. On one of their menu boards, it asks customers to be patient and kind to staff. Since when is it a coffee shop’s job to tell its customers how to behave? I would recommend you remove this offensive signage and worry about your own employees behaviour. Many thanks.
Second visit here and food is nice. Such a shame though that some of the cutlery was dirty and the plate was so obviously unclean! Dried on red food stains under my scampi and chips. No way this wouldn’t have been noticed.
Sorry, not acceptable for the money paid
Homemade food cooked and presented very well. Delightful staff (same applies to farm shop)
Lovely that well behaved dogs are welcome
Good to see so many locals there
We stopped at the cafe for a coffee and to warm up and decided to have lunch. I had the all day small breakfast which was excellent, the bacon was really tasty and everything was cooked perfectly, not greasy at all. My wife had the Tuna melt panini which she said was the most delicious food she had on holiday in Devon. The service was friendly and quick and everything was spotless.

Eat lunch here for first time yesterday wow spectacular views & meal which was very reasonably priced. I had jacket potato with the best prawns I've tasted in a very long time together with side salad with a beautiful dressing thank you
Absolutely fantastic location on the beautiful seafront. Clean hotel with basic breakfast served, unfortunately very little choice on what time to have breakfast. Only option was after 9 every morning and often not much fruit salad left on the buffet by then. They're unable to accommodate guests who prefer to decide, on waking, when to have breakfast. We opted not to have the evening meal. Disappointed that the bar closes at 10:30 pm, latest. On occasions would really have liked a drink bit later than this which does not seem unreasonable to me. Hotel obviously very understaffed but staff were pleasant and hard working. Revolting view from our small stuffy bedroom window (see photo) Window had covering placed over it to disguise the disgusting outlook. Window only opened a few cms and the room was extremely stuffy, insufficient air circulating around the room but the hotel communal areas were comfortable. I have asthma and my room worsened it considerably and made it very hard for me to sleep so not a restful break at all hence poor review.
I asked for a cream tea for two and was told it was £12 for one scone each and a mug, but if I wanted a pot for two and two scones it would be £18. I queried this and was told by two assistant that was right. How can that be right? Ridiculously overpriced even if it cost £12 with a pot. The scone was out of a packet and heated up (probably to soften it up) and wasn’t that thrilling!
We enjoyed our night at this well run, clean and friendly hotel. The three course evening meal was freshly prepared and delicious.
Our room was spotless and well presented. We both are surprised this is only a two star rated hotel, as our experience exceeded many four stars we’ve stayed in. Our breakfast was again delicious. The staff are all attentive and couldn’t do enough for us.
It has ample parking and a beautiful rear garden with seating. If we are in the region again, we would wholeheartedly head for The Tumbling Weir, Thank~you
A shock to see bakery staff picking up and cuddling a dog in the shop. It is bad enough that dogs are allowed in food shops but holding a dog whilst in their aprons and near all the bakery items was unhygienic.
Pizza was amazing 5* best pizza we have ever had, the base was very tasty and the toppings were so good and fresh. Authentic woodfired pizza 👌 💯%
Car broke down on the Axminster bypass: when fixed I had lost the will to drive another 4 hours so checked into the George Inn. In the middle of an outrageously good Halloween party, the staff were never the less attentive, sympathetic and checked me in quickly.
Recently refurbished, the hotel is really and very well furnished and decorated - super comfortable, super clean, super cozy.
It’s a little gem, with parking - great value too!
Had a takeaway from this place tonight for the first time and it was the best Chinese I've had! Chicken balls were great along with everything else we ordered. Thank you x
This place is very much a locals place. Open mike night on when we visited. Not many customers Very old run down and drab. Manager was friendly enough to start but then when we had bought a drink was only interested in his locals. Drinks expensive for the type of place. Ok for one drink but no atmosphere. Wouldn’t visit again
