Nice place near to the seafront and the tramway. Sandwiches are good and made to order and if you are lucky you can eat and enjoy outside. You have a choice of bread and a good wedge with plenty of substance.

Regularly come here as the food is always good and very friendly staff. Husband had his usual bacon sandwich which he says he can never fault. I went for the lovely thick country veg soup with lovely large wedge of very soft granary bread. Absolutely delicious and perfect for the cold wintry day. Thank you

Unwelcoming staff - no smile or chat from either of the “ladies” - you really do need to brush up on your customer service. If you don’t like interacting with people don’t work in hospitality. Overpriced for the quality of the coffee/food received. I am local and will never visit again.

Made a lunch visit while on holiday nearby. I ordered a Stilton ploughman’s (choice of bread) and a cream tea for my wife along with a tea and coffee with the very friendly lady at the counter. Less than 10 minutes later the food arrived- ploughman’s was the best I’ve ever had-4 slices of granary bread ,loads of butter and Stilton ,pickle, side salad etc- just about managed to eat it. !!!! The cream tea had enough cream and jam for about 4 and very highly rated by my wife. We happened to sit in the outside terrace as we have a dog and the road was a bit busy but on no account don’t let this put you off. Massive bonus the cost was £15.30 The main reason for this review is an old adage of mine. “One street back” I don’t use many places on the main tourist areas as they usually are poor quality and expensive- hence “ One street back”

Went to Finishing Touches today for lunch with my mum (she recommended it). We had carrot and coriander soup which was really tasty and definitely homemade. It had a lovely flavour. It came with big chunky pieces of soft granary bread. Not realising how much bread we would get, we also ordered a cheese sandwich, which was made with the same soft, fresh granary bread. It was gorgeous. I couldn’t eat it all but brought home the leftover bread in a doggy bag to eat later as it was so delicious. Very friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Finishing touches has a simple menu which rarely changes. This is fine as it ensures a consistent, sustainable high standard. Some customers have been partaking tea/coffee and snacks regularly for ten or more years. The staff are warm and welcoming and there is a calm, leisurely atmosphere. The portions are generous, and the cakes are fantastic. It is a perfect place for a singleton, a couple, or even a party of ten to meet for a coffee, lunch or afternoon tea. There is outdoor seating undercover for fine days, and inside is always clean and comfortabale. Well done Finishing Touches.

A relatively new addition to Seaton this is a large establishment where well behaved dogs are welcome at the outside tables. We were just there for a cuppa which was nice, came with extra hot water as standard and were served promptly. The cakes looked nice but we weren't eating. "Finishing Touches" Cafe gives reliable good quality food, friendly service and in my opinion is the best place in Seaton to go for breakfast!Hawkins coffee is just the right strength and good size cups. Delicious chunky toast/bread with "proper" marmalade (given in little individual dish rather than the standard small screwtop jar). Good size seating area inside and small outside area. Only downside is the main road to look out on but thats not the fault of "Finishing Touches" at all!

Well well well... After a very long week that consisted of walking for 21.5 hours a day, I had achieved one of my dreams by completing the walk from Fife, Scotland all the way to Seaton, Devon. I arrived in Seaton at around 11:17 and thought to myself, "I think I need a coffee", I started to walk down the road, and my goodness was I delightfully shocked when I saw the beaming glow of this wonderful palace of coffee. When I arrived at their smoothly polished doorstep, I was welcomed by the smell of fresh flowers and cut grass, although the I'm still not sure where the grass smell came from... My whole experience here was amazing appart from the few minutes when I overheard the couple next to me talking about how they stole 450kg of sugar from a train a few weeks ago, but I guess that's not my business. The only way to sum up my experience is to say that this shop was the light at the end of my tunnel.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

About a year ago me and my team of stock brokers were on a business trip in seaton, Cornwall. We found a what looked like a lovely little coffee shop and decided to give it a whirl (Brice my VP of sales has a slight caffeine addiction too). Upon entering, we were greeted by two members of staff that were dressed in red hooded robes chanting biblical aramayak. We at first thought this was some what suspicious, but we were desperate to keep Brice from going on a full on caffeine withdrawal rager so we took a seat. Upon taking a seat, I noticed that I had to sit down on the seat to be able to sit on it. This isn’t acceptable. I expect the seating process to be autonomous and swift. After being told to order at the counter, we then decided to sit at our table and wait to be served. After about 3 hours of waiting, I then approached the counter and asked why we had to wait so long. I was told for a second time to order at the counter, so again I took a seat and waited for a member of staff to come and take our order from the table like any normal human being would. At this point, it was looking like we weren’t going to get our own way (even though one of Brice’s favorite hobbies is going into businesses that aren’t his and telling them how to run the place). The food was average at best, the drinks could of been made better by my little toe, and the general attitude shown by staff was satanic. I think they may have been operating as some sort of cult, of this I am unsure. The main thing that did it for us though, was when we eventually ordered at the counter after waiting for 2 weeks for someone to take our order from the table. I ordered a 6 shot soya decaf skinny mocha Choca latte yaya for Brice as at this point he was damn near breaking the walls down with his bare hands. I ordered a decaf earl grey with 1/16th of the teabag left out and also requested the water to be at exactly 13 degrees as Brice also has a allergy to heat. We also ordered two pieces of the lemon drizzle cake. When the drinks arrived, we were disappointed to say the least. Brice’s coffee resembled more Tina Turner as she burnt out in the final leg of her career. The earl grey I ordered came out as a Dorset tea which I didn’t order. I’ve heard some things about Dorset too, so I’d be more than reluctant to drink something that’s branded Dorset. The lemon drizzles arrived and by that point we just gave up. The drizzles were dry and sunny with no sign of rain. The locals seemed happy but our team hate locals and also hate the southwest as it’s too quiet and boring. I don’t think we’ll be coming back to the southwest ever again after this. Toilets were clean though, which was nice.

The lady in charge was making a big deal out of the price of various teas. Not all teas are included in the scone and tea offer which is baffling. Does this café not bulk order at wholesale? This cafe is very popular with regulars, the decor is run of the mill. The younger waitress was very good at her job and smiley. Be careful at being over charged as we were and not given what we ordered. Asked for Earl Grey and got Dorset tea. We got charged more as it was earl grey but did not receive it . We did not want a confrontation as on holiday so we just left. Would not repeat going to this cafe

Somewhere you can sit outside with your dog but still feel like you are in the cafe. It has an outdoor seating area which is walled off and covered so you don't feel like people are walking past your table as you eat. The tomato and basil soup was very tasty, as were the thick slices of bread that came with it. My husband enjoyed his ploughmans too, which had all the necessary ingredients, in good sized portions. The coffee was good too, as was the service.

Slightly characterless, fairly large cafe in Harbour Road. However, great choice of good value simple food. Nice coffee, friendly efficient staff, and 'deals' such as a bacon roll and a coffee / tea making things even better. Huge choice of tasty cakes and sandwiches.

We have been having coffee here regularly each week over a period of years being local residents. We love our decaff lattes and toasted teacakes. We think we are slightly addicted to this coffee shop because we miss it so much when we go away!!!Lovely light lunches and coffee in a comfortable cafe. Highly recommended ... and this is where the locals have their coffee which is a good advertisement in itself.OUR RATING : EXCELLENT !!!

We popped in here for lunch having been on the disappointing tramway. What we saw of the town was a dump so we weren't hopeful with this cafe. I had a ploughmans which was nice and plentiful, nothing special but nice. I wouldn't visit the area again but if I did some how end up there's I'd eat at this cafe again

Went into Finishing Touches in Seaton, Devon and l asked for one decaf tea, one latte and a piece of cake and was charged £6.20. Whilst sat at the table waiting for our order l looked at the blackboard with the prices on and l noticed it said "any cake with tea or filter coffee £3.50". so when the girl came over with the cake and said l think you have overcharged me, tea and cake £3.50 and latte £2 so it should be £5.50, not over £6. She said it was because we had decaf tea but l said the board doesn't say what type of tea in the offer, If it's for normal tea the it should say offer excludes decaf or special teas. She then said well that's because decaf is more expensive and that's what it is and walked away, HOW RUDE. Will NEVER go in that coffee shop again and l am a local person, I must agree with some of the other comments - it does need things done to it - clean windows, coat of paint and l noticed the floor, under the cake display, under the sofas - rather a lot of dust, need a good clean

What a lovely little coffee house in the centre of the sleepy Devon town of Seaton. Ideal place for a re-freshing drink or a nice snack. Or maybe just the place to put your feet up and enjoy a delicious Hot Chocolate and watch the world go by. If you like your tea or coffee this place is the 'cream of Seaton' !

We sat down at a table which needed wiping so asked for it to be wiped. We were shocked when we were handed a cloth for us to wipe the table ourselves!!! The coffee was weak, the food was very average, the décor was very tired looking with filthy windows. The name of this coffee shop is ironic as it seems to forget all the finishing touches.

Out of season (and not even half-term or weekend), cream teas aren't as freely available in Seaton as in the peak of summer. Trotters apologised for having no scones, and suggested we try Finishing Touches. We arrived to find that a batch of scones was in the oven and due out in a few minutes - well worth the wait. There's nothing wrong with a cream tea including only one scone when they are this size! We also got generous portions of jam and clotted cream, and a full pot of tea. There's a choice of upright chairs or armchairs, and a collection of local and national papers. We'd been on a walk and, though our boots had been thoroughly scraped, we were concerned that this footwear might be unwelcome - which wasn't the case at all.

This is a very nice cafe / coffee shop. We've had breakfast here a few times - bacon roll and coffee or just coffee and toast. This is also a good place for afternoon tea - excellent home made cakes. The coffee is good and the prices very fair. Service is always prompt and with a smile

We live locally and often pop in for a coffee. Lovely selection of cakes and scones taste like homemade. They also do light lunches and menu is reasonably priced. Café is clean and bright. It's popular with locals and is very handy for anyone visiting Seaton Tramway.

We stopped at the cafe for a coffee and to warm up and decided to have lunch. I had the all day small breakfast which was excellent, the bacon was really tasty and everything was cooked perfectly, not greasy at all. My wife had the Tuna melt panini which she said was the most delicious food she had on holiday in Devon. The service was friendly and quick and everything was spotless.

Decided to visit the Combe Garden Centre, overdue really as we are quite local. Went into the Kitchen at Combe for lunch. We had to wait behind the rope to be seated. I can understand this is busy times, but it was quiet and being seated involved the member of staff giving us a menu and help yourself to a seat. All well and good, but waiting what seemed a very long time behind the rope without even a menu to peruse was just plain daft and annoying. My wife wanted the jacket potato, but it clearly said on the menu this wasn’t available on a Sunday. We spotted a jacket spud being served and after an enquiry we were told we can ignore the menu in that respect. Whilst waiting at our table, we felt sorry for people coming in that wanted a seat with a brolly for shade, the only two tables suitable had ‘reserved for large parties’ on them. These tables held about 6-7 people and remained unused all the time we were there. Seemed ridiculous. Anyway, the positives, the food was promptly served and the quality good and the surroundings were very pleasant and a delight to sit in. Will we come back? Unlikely I feel, it could be so much better but needs better organisation and removal of petty rules.

Car broke down on the Axminster bypass: when fixed I had lost the will to drive another 4 hours so checked into the George Inn. In the middle of an outrageously good Halloween party, the staff were never the less attentive, sympathetic and checked me in quickly. Recently refurbished, the hotel is really and very well furnished and decorated - super comfortable, super clean, super cozy. It’s a little gem, with parking - great value too!
