Poor selection of vegetables. The flatest Yorkshire puddings ive ever seen. Gravy had a fatty taste .

We go here every year whilst staying at Devon Cliffs as there’s always a warm welcome! Don’t know the name of the man that always serves us but he is so friendly & good fun! Carvery is amazing! Thoroughly recommend this pub!

Good food and plenty, service was slow due to shortage of staff, which we understood. Atmosphere was made by ourselves around the table by the family. All that said we would go again as the food was good .

Nice place. I was at a wake but the food was good. I did look at the menu and they had a good choice to pick from.

Best Sunday lunch. Was cooked to perfection. Dan at the bar was lovely. Very accommodating. Funny and helpful. He needs a payrise.

Was not bad 6 months ago but today, don't seem too bothered about whether they serve you or not, and when they want £9 for a jacket potato and £6 for a battered sausage, well, make your own minds up!!

Carvery was the best we have had, staff are lovely and polite. Can't fault it, atmosphere great.

A lovely little pub. If you want simple tasty pub grub with a relaxing atmosphere then this is the place for you. We found this place on our drive past and decided to stop for lunch. The food was simple pub grub which is just what we wanted. It was hot, tasty food in a relaxed setting. Service was very quick and staff friendly. 4 stars due to dirty highchair and baby changing.

Called in on way back to Devon Cliffs. Not a great choice on the menu. Food arrived. Didn't enjoy it and was too embarassed to say anything. I'd of rather paid another £5 and eaten at South Beach Cafe on the caravan park...(which we have done twice on our break prior to this). Stick to a drink only!

Been 3 times to this fabulous pub, once for Evening Meal and 2 Sunday lunches. The food on all occasions were delicious, ( Sunday lunch Roasties are some of the best I've ever had!) Excellent service, Staff so friendly, welcoming and the Owner was understanding of my dietry needs - thank you! Food presented well and piping hot. Highly recommend.

Went to the Clinton arms what a great pub. Meals we re really good and tasty and atmosphere was great. The barman who greeted us on arrival was really friendly. Would recommend this pub for a great meal. Just down the road from the haven site.

We recently stayed at Devon cliffs, and fancied a bit of a change, popped in here for a drink, friendly staff, Reasonable priced.

We came to visit today for a Sunday carvery. Its was a beautiful meal and service was absolutely fantastic. Highly recommend.

Locals pub with good kids area and basic pub grub menu. Friendly staff, clean and tidy.

As it's the closest pub to Sandy Bay, we popped in. Fair to say its been at least a couple decades since I've visited, much better now, great service and a landlord thats says ''Hello '' We took over the beer garden with the extended family one evening and loved it. If your staying at the @HavenHolidayPark "SANDY BAY" pop down and have a beer or two. Nice family welcome Devon Pub.

Absolutely fantastic food & the staff are great, especially Isaac the chef, really friendly & helpful. The cauliflower cheese was amazing, along with all the other food 🌟 Definitely recommend this pub, well worth a visit.

Was served last week by a lovely lady behind the bar .Made all our party feel so so so welcome the food was lovely . Lovely menu a lot smaller though from last year and no sausage and red onion pie which was a triumph. We will be back very soon . Thank you once again .

A short stroll from Devon Cliffs park or a bus ride (you may need the bus back after a roast dinner) A very friendly welcome as we entered and quickly taken to our table. Up to the bar to order super easy, don't be concerned when you hear there is only small and medium carvery I can put away a roast like I'm being paid and even I was stuffed with what can only be described as the BEST roast dinner I have ever eaten (sorry nan) the meat was juicy and tender, perfect roast potatoes and a lovely selection of veg. Special mention to the superb roasted parsnips I could have had a plate of just those bad boys👍. We didn't look at the dessert menu as we were all so full we could y have even got in a communion wafer. Definitely recommend and definitely coming back on our return to Devon cliffs. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We went to the Clinton arms to a wake after a friends funeral and the food was terrible. Poor quality ham, eggs in the sandwich and the price of £10 ahead which was charged was day light robbery.

Top notch service with a tight yet inviting community. Children love it and the food was spot on. Happened to see a lovely couple just wed pass by ♥️

Booked into for food at 7.30pm as we could not get in anywhere else as there were 16 of us, big thank you to the staff including the chef who stayed on to accommodate us, pity we do not find this place sooner. Very friendly and welcoming, food was very good not one of my party complained good food and reasonably priced. If you are stay at Devon Cliffs you have to try this place it's only down the road from Devon Cliffs

Food was really good, I had the special, steak and ale pie recommend by Tash at the bar, and it did not Dissapoint, Tash was really friendly and helpful highly recommended coming for food.

Came on the spur of the moment having promised ourselves for the past few years visiting Devon that we would try this place. Well it didn't disappoint. They were initially fully booked and we were just getting in our car when we were shouted back. The owners squeezed us in and boy are we so glad they did. Food, service and atmosphere were amazing. A very warm welcome and very good service on our evening visit last night. A limited menu due to Covid but my Mediterranean tart was delicious. Sausage and mash was good, too. Felt very safe and it was wonderful to sit inside at last!

We visited twice whilst staying at Devon Cliffs and will definitely be back next time we are in Devon. Very friendly staff, quick service, great drinks menu and a playground for the little ones. Highly recommend a visit!

Family friendly pub with an amazing beer garden, plenty of space and a climbing frame for the kids to enjoy. Food is top quality and their drinks are reasonably priced for the quality they serve. Definitely recommend.

We had an amazing time away at devon cliffs and happened to come across the clinton arms. We popped in here on our first day over in devon and met a nice, kind, funny and charming man who we got to know very well that politely seated us at a table suited for our needs and had a lovely chat with us throughout our stay. Thank you to danny for making our time down at the clinton arms worth while to the point we came back each and everyday. We had a lovely waitress a couple times called tash that was very polite and friendly and that you knew you could have a chat and a laugh with. This made our holiday. We had a few meals here which you couldnt fault. Definitely worth the money. For this time of year the we saw and respecting the clearly marked signage around the pub that clearly marked the entrance and exit. Thank you both danny and tash for making our experience at this pub the best! Thank you!

We popped in here on our first day of our holiday while we waited to go to our caravan was met by Danny and a lovely lady from then on we kept going back and had two meals which were good pub grub at it’s best. We found that signage in and out the pub were VERY CLEAR and all bar staff were POLITE and FRIENDLY and thanks to meeting Danny on that first day of our holiday we went back almost every day THANK YOU

We visited here as a family before our holiday at Devon Cliffs. We came in the bar and were greeted by a really friendly lady who gave my 2 young girls lots of attention, which continued throughout the visit.We ordered our drinks which were brought over before ordering our food. Our 2 diet cokes seemed a little like the syrup had been mixed wrong, the lady took them back to the bar and came back saying that's just the mix, so she replaced them with 2 bottles of coke which were the same price, however it was coke not diet coke we had ordered, my wife was at the toilet with one of my girls and I was being showed by my other how many legs a rabbit had so didn't really pay attention to this at the time so my fault that I didn't bring it up at the time. The food came really promptly, the girls had sausage and chips which they both ate every drop of, at first I thought it was a bit of a short portion with only 1 sausage but it was a really good quality sausage and filled the girls up enough to not question it. I had the fish and chips which again was fine maybe could of been drained a little longer as there was a lot of oil sat on the plate but again that is a personal pet peeve, my wife had a chicken burger which she said she really enjoyed. As the tagline of my review says it was just good pub food, simple and effective, good for a quick visit or if you want to eat out without spending a fortune. The whole experience was taken to a better level by the great hospitality

Called through to make booking, background was very noisy and lady who answered the phone was also welcoming people in, so my call lasted longer than expected with issues with hearing because of the background noise, but she was polite so thought nothing of it. Booked a table for 4 with a highchair. Upon arrival we tried to find the entrance, my father in law who was holding my 1 yo son was first in, admittedly he was maskless at this point because my son enjoys pulling it off. We were greeted by a very blunt and loud man saying “gotta put your masks on before you come in” We all had masks and were in the process of putting them on, as we’d just come from the car and it was raining heavily (visit was during storm Alex) so we just didn’t want to get soaked. This man was sitting on a table with five other adults literally right next to the entrance door, you pass within a foot off them and the table to enter the pub. I know the rules about once you’re seated you can take a mask off, but this place need to look at the layouts of their tables. Me wearing a mask is to protect you.....where’s the protection for my son who is too young to keep a mask on when having to walk in close proximity to you? A waitress escorted us to a backroom, sat us down (masks off) and pointed at the highchairs (mask back on) to go and fetch it. She offered us drinks, we ordered, she then came straight back with the bill for drinks. We asked for a tab, sorry no tabs, new rules because of the table service (?????) another colleague overheard, came over, you can have a tab it’s easier, then the debate ensues right next to us .... can we or can’t we? Turns out we could. Drinks ordered, food ordered. Waitress prints off bill and prompts payment. Ermm, we haven’t had the food yet, nor are we sure if he will want dessert or other drinks. Drinks came out, ice missing from once of the drinks, we asked again for it. Within a few minutes of us having the drinks arrive, the lady came back without ice but “any more drinks” the drinks were barely touched yet, but I suppose she was just being efficient right? Just the ice please. She came back a shirt while later with a pint glass of ice and smirked asif to say “enough ice for you”?! Food comes out....edible. Typical pub grub but lower standard and rushed, (I presume as kitchen closed at 7.30pm and our order came out about 7.25pm they just wanted it down) batter was undercooked on the sausage, burger was burned all round the edges. We ate the food, the drinks were gone...waiting.....empty glasses, waitress no where to be seen, The irony that now we actually wanted the bill. The one way route exit for social distancing was now closed with curtains pulled across. We were now the only people in this back room. Finally we saw someone by the bar and called them over to ask for the bill. Our waitress came out and the bill was paid. We asked for which way out now the exit was closed “oh you can just go through the bar to the exit in the there” Oh great, passed all of the people lining the exit without masks. The man that had prompted us earlier to wear masks was now saying we could walk out of the entrance rather than the mock 2nd exit that had been created.....seriously, which way do you want it? Guessing he’s had a few more bevy’s by this point. He’s got to have been part of the management, if not, for your rep sake put him away from the customers. We left....worst 90 minutes of our holiday. We felt unwelcomed, unwanted, and out of place, unsatisfied by the food, Oh well, We won’t be returning and definitely will not be recommending.

Sunday Carvery absolutely fantastic, food was great, service was great, during these tough times the Clinton Arms had everyone’s safety at the for front, lovely atmosphere and staff where great, keep up the great work

I booked for a small birthday party, my guests were put at ease by friendly and dedicated staff members who went over and beyond in making this occasion so special, we enjoyed lovely freshly made piping hot dinners and felt safe and secure in our surrounding environment.Thanks again for serving our home made celebration cake and in helping us have a truly great evening. 5*

Hi this is a review to say thank you for a wonderful weekend 4th,5th,6th September. We were a group celebrating our wedding vows renewal amid this strange time, the staff were so so friendly and happy to serve us, we “socially distanced “ but were quite loud they were patient and happy to serve us. On the Sunday we all had a lovely carvery lunch. There’s a good size back room which leads to a lovely back garden for children to play safe, I thoroughly recommend this pub

I come up from Wales every 6 weeks and always me and my partner and dog visit this stunning little country pub. The staff are so friendly and the food can be lovely and if ever something is wrong it is dealt with straight away.the place is welcoming and very clean.they welcome my dog everytime and also find a seat for us to go with her my partner has anxiety problems and needs to be away from people and to the staff always make sure the help us find a quiet little table out of the way.i have never had a complaint about the meals I have ordered and yes the menu is small but with what is happening at the moment you have to expect that but the stiff that is on the menu is value for money and the drinks are also well priced well done all the staff and managers who have managed to keep this place 5 star will visit again very soon

The menu (which carries the excuse of Covid and trying to keep people safe is simply a way of explain poor quality and no cooking ability. Half a dozen main dishes (all can hppily be deep fried or microwaved. Cheap (Iceland, Aldi) ingredients that are over fried. Disappointing doesn't even start to describe this experience. Value for money was very low. Everything out of the freezer, nothing locally sourced or homemade. Nothing stopped them cooking the same menu with good ingredients properly and charging the same. y message to the pub "I fear you may not survive Covid irrelevant of the new decor, your standards and quality are too low."

Popped down the Clinton arms for a late evening drink and the staff are very friendly and chatting and the price is decent we never had any food so can’t comment

We pre-booked a table for two for a Sunday Carvery. We were greeted by friendly staff who explained to us how things would work to maintain social distancing. We had awhile to wait for our number to be called but we were kept up to date by staff. We were then guided to the Carvery which offered three different meats and variety of vegetables. Food was really good and a very reasonable price. Would highly recommend. We felt safe and relaxed and staff ensured social distancing was maintained. Definitely would visit again when in the area.

Absolutely amazing service, social distancing in place and couldn’t fault. Extremely clean and didn’t feel uncomfortable at all. Took my 2 year old today whilst we are holidaying at Devon cliffs, the staff made us feel very welcome and were very accommodating to our needs. I felt they were very understanding, knowing how hard life can be with a toddler. They got us served very quick so we could be out. The food was outstanding, roast potatoes were perfect, not many Carverys can say this. Would not hesitate in retiring year after year. Very happy staff = very happy customers

Very friendly staff greeted us during these crazy times. We turned up nearly an hour early due to completing our coastal walk quicker than expected however they managed to accommodate us. It’s a popular place so I’d make a booking if I were you. Food was lovely and fresh, great onion rings tooWill return Pudding is great too

Went in here for a drink came back twice! Really welcoming great banter with the bar staff and the locals. If we are back in the area we would definitely be back, even if the old Rosie does not agree with my brother!

After reading the owners reply I THOUGHT it was only fair to respond. We had a dreadful meal at The Clinton arms last week FISH and greasy chips we felt WRITING on trip advisor was a suitable reaction. After the 1000s of PEOPLE you have served in the past two months the common reaction does seem to be you do seem to get a lot of COMPLAINTS. The fish was dreadful the chips were greasy the burgers were clearly frozen, your coffee is dreadfully weak instant coffee (no your not costa) but you do still charge for your products and the toilets were not being checked hourly as you have stated before. They were indeed not cleanNow I’m sure Basil Faulty will RESPOND with a argument as seems to be the theme with his complaints but please AVOID if possible.

Nipped up for a meal,very small menu missing items on food and it was basically a cheap chicken burger an chips sorry not nice..Also bar staff told customers too stand behind the covid line and 5 mins before had her arm around a customer...

Firstly we had to go to the bar. No table service. No ppe worn by staff. Bar staff not at all friendly or welcoming There was no one way system in place for the bar entering or leavingDogs ok in certain areas but we couldn’t sit inside as they were booked. It was empty Disappointing as we probably would have visited every day for food and drinks whilst on holiday if the service had been more welcoming

We visited today as a family of 3 for a Sunday carvery.Pre-booked the day before which was nice and easy.When we arrived entrances were nice and clear with hand sanitizer available.Staff very friendly and ordering clear.Carvery was nice, we plated for us by friendly staff again, and based on their portions they certainly didn't want us to go hungry...I think the kids portion was the same as the adults meat options were beef, turkey and gammon.. veg was sprouts, carrots, swede, green beans, cabbage and very tasty cauliflower cheese. Very generous with the roast potatoes (if you ask for 3 expect 5 )Plates promptly cleared once we were finished and easy to pay.Lovely little play area outside as well as covered tables.All in all would certainly recommend as a great value carvery with friendly service. Not a la carte but tasty.In current circumstances it was good to see a local pub busy but managing in a sensible and safe way.

Met a friend there for a few drinks. The main issue I had was the attitude of the staff who were quite rude and abrupt in the way they enforced the new social distancing rules. I get that it a difficult situation, but I think that a more diplomatic approach will get a better response. My second issue is that according to the sign off sheet in the gents toilet they hadn’t been cleaned since 11am the one and only time they had been. In the currently Situation with Covid this is unacceptable.

We visited yesterday as a group of 8- 4 adults, 4 children. Intially, first impressions were good with a lovely play area for the children. The menu was limited due to current circumstances but there was no vegan option available leaving me with a plate of chips. Food came out ok. We were interrupted on numerous occasions to see if drinks were finished and my sons drink was even attempted to be removed after stating twice it wasnt finished. We ordered ice cream for the kids and only two out of the four bowls came out. A mistake with the order which is easily done however, once raised we then had to wait a very long time for two more bowls to arrive trying to entertain two very disgruntled children. It takes seconds to put some ice cream in a bowl. When they did arrive, it wasn't the double scoop that was ordered. By this point we just wanted to leave however this proved a challenge too. 3 occasions we asked to pay we simply got forgotten, a reoccurring theme. We were then told they needed our table vacated at a specific time which easily would have been achieved if the ice cream had arrived and we simply could have paid. We didn't receive an itemised receipt so we have no idea what we paid for. Very poor service. We will not be returning despite whatever your reply to this may be.

We were immediately greeted as we walked in and shown to our table. We didn't have to wait long before we were called to our carvery which was delicious, great value for money and a huge portion, even the children's. The server took extra care to cut my little ones meat into small pieces which was a thoughtful gesture. All of the staff are friendly and attentive and genuinely ask how the food is etc. Really lovely, family pub. Well worth a visit.

Walked into the bar, order 4 drinks that come to £17 something. Nearly £20 for four drinks. Well. Things get better...We order food as we were starving, we had fish and chips for £14 (all but a few pence) 2 scampi and chips, chicken burger and a kids chicken nuggets with chips and beans with 2 sides of onion rings.The kids meal come out first and instantly I though that’s not worth £6.95 but my son was hungry and I wasn’t willing to make him wait anymore, then came the 2 sides of onion rings, one dish was full and the other one was half empty, you would think as the 2 portions are going to the same table they would at least try to even them out. Then outcome the shocker burger and the 2 scampi meals, and they was presented to us on a kids plate, the kids meal had just as much on the plate as the adult meals. The peas had been overheated and gone hard due to being in the microwave for far too long. All round shocking experience after spending well over £70 on a round of drinks and meals I expected better. I would much rather find a local chip shop and have the same meals for around 35% of the price and get portions worth paying for. If you eat there just order a kids meal save yourself some money. Absolutely shocking.

We were fortunate enough to win a carvery on an ExmouthAir competition and have always wanted to try here. The pub is obviously undergoing a refurbishment which is evident when you use the corridor on the way to the toilets. The dining area and the bar are recently and well decorated. There is a large family room which also houses the carvery area.Our welcome was warm and friendly and in spite of the weather there was a steady stream of customers. The carvery was well presented, the chef serving friendly and helpful and the food hot, appetising and plentiful. Well worth a visit

Had a lovely greeting as soon as entered pub. All very friendly and welcoming. We had the carvery and it was very nice and both enjoyed everything. Nice wine to accompany it as well. Dale the owner checking all ok with everything. Certainly go back again.

Went for a carvery/Christmas dinner originally, but this did not happen on a Friday. However, we stayed and all three of us had a really good meal and the staff were brilliant. I agree with existing reviews that the radio advert should be made a lot clearer. All in all though a very pleasant lunchtime.

Though staff were okay we found food dissapointing. We were lured in by a deceptive advert on the radio suggesting a very good value meal. On arrival I was not offered the option of spending the price hinted on their advertisement. The meal was more expensive and worse quality than other surrounding carvery establishments. I wo'nt be returning.

Tough as old boots. Left most on plate didn’t even bring it home for dog, even though we arrived there as they where just opening when you would expect meat to be at the nicest. The staff where friendly though

My wife and I went to the Clinton Arms for a Sunday carvery. We both had the lamb. This was one of best carvery meals we have had in a very long time. Nice friendly pub with a great atmosphere. Oh and a lovely pint of Guinness too. Would definitely recommend.

Popped in to ask if our walking group could have lunch on a Monday in January. Unfortunately they don't serve food on a Monday in the winter, which is quite understandable. Never mind. Nice cider all the same.

Spontaneous meal out today with our family. Phoned, booked, arrived, got a friendly greeting lovely service great carvery. Will come back again.

Midweek carvery was the absolute best - 5 stars. Meat was gorgeous and tender and the honey roasted parsnips were beautiful. All of the staff were very friendly and welcoming and the Devon hospitality shone through. Would highly recommend others to visit especially on a carvery evening.

Live in village. Had food and a beer in the summer and was great food. Same again tonight Really lovely friendly service. Highly recommended!

Called here to have a drink and watch the football,soon realised that this pub is for Locals only waited ages to get served as staff needed to keep locals happy

Very nice family pub. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent especially the gammon, scampi and lasagne. Unfortunately we only discovered The Clinton a couple of days before going home, definitely looking forward to visiting again next year.

We visited last night for our meal. We both ordered cottage pie. When it was bought to the table there was a very dry cottage pie in a dish served with a portion of chips, very hard frozen peas and a jug of thick, almost cold gravy.

I don’t usually drive with the radio on but being stuck in traffic I tuned into our local station + an advert came on for The Clinton Arms, sounded good + not having been there for a few decades I thought it would be worth a try.

Service was poor , some staff think playing on the fruit machine was more important then serving staff and put out by customers . My daughter enjoyed her pizza although she had to change topping as didn’t have some , my lasagne was not great didn’t find any pasta more like meat with melted cheese on top .

we was on holiday in exmouth and no staying very far from the clinton was there on Saturday had great night very nice place and very friendly the bar staff were great had a karaoke which was great fun will go back again when go to exmouth next

What can I say,. We here I begin..

Sadly the food was poor. Chips cooked in old oil, coleslaw tasted out of date. We wanted non alcoholic drinks. Coffee poor instant make, no non alcoholic beers, ginger beer. Gammon and eggs, the gammon was dry and thin, cheese burger, poor quality tasteless burger. The seagulls enjoyed the food the most.

We were nearly put off with some of the reviews, and did find the single barmaid very busy but coping well with a lovely attitude, the meals were fine but to have no ham available for a pizza topping and also to run out of Jacket Potatoes a basic need strange.

Had our wedding reception here and they were amazing staff were brilliant and they exceeded our expectations would definitely use them again 😁

We visited The Clinton Arms during our holiday at Devon Cliffs. We decided to visit during the week, for a family lunch (9 of us), so it wouldn’t be too busy to seat us all.

Saw the pub as we drove out and read the reviews. Wished I had seen date of reviews.

Just a short walk from Haven's Devon Cliffs holiday park is this nice local pub. We popped in for Sunday lunch & it was excellent. We ordered the food at the bar & it was brought out to our table in less than 15 minutes. The beef was so tasty & melted in the mouth together with a choice of fresh vegetables. All the meals are reasonably priced.

Wanted a good Sunday lunch near to Haven Devon Cliffs Holiday park. A little walk from the camp we found The Clifton Arms so we popped in. What a lovely pub, staff very friendly & the roast dinners were excellent, very tasty. I would recommend this pub to anyone. It also has an outside play area for the kids & a indoor room with their own TV channel & plenty of games to help keep them amused.
