The Strand Inn in East Devon

Many of my friends no longer drink at this pub for various reasons.

Was only on a visit,as me and my wife on Holiday not been to Exmouth for years parked up was Raining so looked for pub came here asked if dog friendly young girl at bar " yes it is " came in sit brightside of doorway put my Husky under table 2 local chaps really descent of them said beautiful dog they had even came up fussed him 1 local chap said to some local snotty nose lady don't sit by them they have a dog he's not large he's medium they deliberately sat right by us with their Yapping small dog which set mine off to that lady thanks you ruined our stay.Pub is and sounds good on Reviews but people don't listen so there for we left Lady with small dog your disgusting. Also slating my Dog who was calm before you sat by us.. To the Chap who came out with my canister as I was angry thanks and thanks for sticking up for us.. Some people are really rude and vile ..

Always a warm welcome. Good place to watch sport. Baby Guinness are the best!

Did not have food here, so I can not rate, but it was a great atmosphere and friendly staff

I went to a charity disco bingo evening with 2 friends. Though we live fairly locally, we had never been to The Strand before. What a FABULOUS little pub! The atmosphere was brilliant and we were treated as if we had been regulars for years. We will definitely be going back whether there's another charity event or no!

Great place to have a few beers and watch Rugby. Friendly staff and patrons in general. Good fun especially with a few trays of shooters with strangers 👍

Was very disappointed this time when we visited the strand friday 22nd sept 2023 was ok but saturday 23rd different story .you advertise youre hrs to 1am yet sat u rang bell at 12 we got a drink half beer and a gin 5 mins later u sent female bouncer to tell us to drink up 5 min later u sent male bouncer to tell us to leave i said thought u were open to 1 female said between 12 and 1 they do what they like so i said we are not too know that grumpy bar manager said thats why i rang bell u still advertise until 1 if he told us we had 5 min to drink up we wouldnt have bothered would have gone somewhere else very unprofessional his last words were dodnt see why i should stay open do 4 people can drink 2 wasnt drinking and we were just finishing do embaressing as we are 56 and 70 yrs old .my brother lives here and he wont go here has had issues .would i come again only if grumpy isint there as were made to feel un welcome so sunday night went weatherspoons and made to feel welcome

We come to exmouth to visit family and usually come to this pub and its usually very good but was so disappointing this time friday was ok but saturday after a lovely meal went in strand around 11 for a last drink ..at 12 they rang bell even though says 1 am on door wish the grumpy guy on bar told us he would be shutting in 10 mins as he served us then at 12 .05 he sent girl bouncer to tell us to drink up 5 min later man bouncer came up and said he wants u out i said to bouncer but it does say 1 and she said between 12 and 1 they shut when they want to i said we werent to know that so grumpy said thats why i rang bell wasnt a problem they wanted to shut early but they could have told us i wouldnt have had another drink and as we left he said im not staying open for 4 people to have a drink we wasnt we just wanted to finish our drinks he was very rude,grumpy,no personality so sunday we went some where else would return but not if grumpy working other guy lovely this was sat 23rd sept 2023

What a shame that this establishment no longer welcomes families in their beer garden. We have lots of great memories of holidays here with our well behaved children but this year we were told we were no longer welcome. Sad times. They've lost a lot of business from us this summer 😕

the strand is situated in the centre of exmouth , the prices are very competitive as it is opposite a wetherspoons , call in quite regular for a nice quiet pint , it also has a beer garden for when the sun is shinning .

Really friendly and good atmosphere

Friendly, relaxed approach. Sports, music, dogs allowed. Cheerful beer garden. What more could you want? Plus, outdoor heating, music, darts, and prize draws.

Sorry my review is late was there in September last year the staff was very polite and friendly highly recommend if in Exmouth

A pub which doesn’t allow you to take a baby in from the rain in order to be changed and have a quick drink. Avoid this pub clearly not family friendly

Absolutely tipping it down with rain so we thought we'd stop off for a drink in this pub and to change our baby. Unfortunately not to be. Very aggressively and very rudely turned away by who I assume was the manager/landlord at the door on the basis of the baby being with us. Nice community spirit shown there. Disgusting place

Had a lovely time .the barmaid was absolutely amazing is couldn't do enough. I'm in a wheelchair and she actually spoke to me. I met the landlord and he was good fun.good day would go back again. Xxx

Waste of time.... rude bar staff...... Went in last night spent £100 without any problems..... go in tonight with my 3 daughters all older than 18 and because my 19 year old daughter didn't have her I.d with her was refused entry... but the best part of this us my daughter has tattoos but by law you have to be older than 18 to have these......

The Strand Inn is singlehandedly the best pub in Exmouth. I’m on a small caravan holiday and needed a place to watch England v Denmark, and The Strand Inn accommodated myself and my family. The prices are very good and the food is really nice. The service is top quality and I wish there was a pub like it back home. Definitely recommend!!

As a local I visited the above establishment yesterday early evening to have a few birthday drinks with two of my sons and three friends. Upon arrival we were greeted by a member of staff, possibly bar manager. I asked if there were any tables available, to which the chap replied yes they have one table available in the courtyard for six. He asked how many were in our group, I advised six. The staff member then asked if it was all young lads, I advised with the exception of me yes. The man then refused access on these grounds. I removed my hat (not that it should have been necessary) to reveal my grey hair pointing out I was actually 52! This made no difference the biased individual had already formed an opinion without rhyme nor reason and turned us away. For me, I have never been so embarrassed or humiliated in all my life. It was my understanding that the hospitality industry had been hit quite hard during these unprecedented times, yet they can allow staff to discriminate against hard working honest individuals. Absolutely disgusting, the individual involved should be ashamed of himself, what example is this teaching young men when they are treated this way. I for one will never set the foot in the place again, I will gladly give other local businesses my business. I will also make every effort to encourage family and friends to avoid such a premise where visitors are treated so appallingly, no doubt the young men I was with will do the same.

Dog friendly, very important to me

I attended The Strand at around 15.00 yesterday (26/09/20). To be told I had to wear a mask, I explained I couldn’t due to having asthma and significant breathing difficulties. His response was “well I don’t care I’m not willing to pay a 10 grand fine”. So he has effectively discriminated. His attitude was disgusting from the first minute to the last. DO NOT VISIT THIS VENUE THEY WILL DISCRIMINATE!!!

I went with some friends and got stopped in to exetering of search of our bags when had nothing in our bags when been to the beach we certainly would never go in your pub again as don't feel very welcomed with my friends birthday and your security of one was bit jobs body We never go again !!! Popped in today after visiting the really expensive Grove on the seafront and was warmly welcomed by the staff. The price of drinks here are not tourist orientated and are sensible. Ideally located for the town centre and adjacent to the train and bus routes: I would definitely recommend. Unfortunately The closer you get to the beach the less your money will buy.

Oh what to do in Exmouth when a storm hits the exmouth coast ? 10 of us travelled down for the cancelled races. We found this pub and were made to feel very welcome. The owner and staff were friendly and efficient prices were very good and my wife and friends were included in raffles bingo meat auction sing along and even ended up doing a conga all before 7pm. The owner only took over a few months ago but he has a great little pub who the locals seem to enjoy and welcome strangers. Great 6hrs on a horrible rainy february day. Thank you.

The weather was vile and 10 of us piled into the strand for the day. What a lovely warm welcome we recieved. Disco bingo was hilarious. Would definitely recommend

I went to this pub two consecutive days. The second time I visited I didn't even need to ask what I wanted as they remembered from the previous day! Warm, friendly and just around 10/10.

Had a great day at the strand playing disco bingo and then listening to the duo sing the disco bingo is so popular they are thinking of starting to do it on Thursday's as well

Omg where do I start, The staff.....The door staff were lovely very polite not like some you meet, The bar staff were great, smiley made your night better not like miserable ones that make you leave lolThen there is Doug, well he is so cool, made me laugh from start to finish, even made me collect glasses what a funny awesome guyWell they do a meat raffle and I won chicken, that was bought on the Saturday night to be drawn on the Sunday lunch, had music on and to be honest I thought the drinks prices were really good, on the Sunday they had disco bingo and kareoke wow what fun, had such a fantastic day, sang played fun bingo with great friends and family in this little gem of an Exmouth pub, didn't think my experiences coming here could get any better and then you come along, thankyou Doug and the team can't wait to come back, from the crazy Brummie girl and her cousin ❤️❤️

stayed in Exmouth for the night and went for a pub crawl however the strand was so good we stayed for the rest of the night.good atmosphere with friendly locals.good music being played with prices of drinks surprisingly low.

I've been a couple of times over the weekend to this pub and cant believe it isn't busting at the seams .up the road I paid £3.95 for a pint of warm flat trendy ,100 years ago, real alegot a great pint of john Smith's with good music and all the sports for less than £2 .TV outside with football on what's not to like .Good stuff.
