We stopped at the cafe for a coffee and to warm up and decided to have lunch. I had the all day small breakfast which was excellent, the bacon was really tasty and everything was cooked perfectly, not greasy at all. My wife had the Tuna melt panini which she said was the most delicious food she had on holiday in Devon. The service was friendly and quick and everything was spotless.

One of the few places in Sidmouth to offer an all day breakfast. Many places stop at 11.30 so I was really happy to find Sarah Jane's. Good no fuss cafe with a simple selection, reasonably priced and off the front so can avoid big crowds, Friendly service and nice selection of simple food. Great place for an actors breakfast if your on tour or at local rep.

We had a great lunch at Sarah Jane's. Some really nice touches - for example, the salad with our paninis included fruit (melon, grapes, kiwi, pomegranate) as well as the usual salad leaves.

I went here with my mom so she could have a drink and a sit down as she walks with a stick and she must rest her leg every now and then, we sat down the person working there came over and rudely told us that we must have something off the lunch menu when I asked if we can just have a drink and scones she abruptly said no not on the lunch menu you can't we only have 4 tables so its wasted if you just have a drink. I went back to ask her for a name she obviously ended up being the manager , she tried to say she didn't say it and that she can't have someone just having drinks she ended up telling me bye because I was clearly right that she is prejudice against people who are not local and disabled, we ended up at the chattery where the customer service was wonderful and the lady here was lovely told us we were more than welcome to sit here just for a drink 😁.

Despite what the listing says, this cafe is currently open on Sundays 10am to 2pm (be warned weekday closing is 2pm also at the moment). Bought two takeaway bacon baps which were cooked to order. Was offered the choice of white or granary baps. We had one of each so well placed to review. Baps were beautifully fresh and bacon was very tasty, cooked enough for a few crunchy bits but not overdone. Prices very reasonable, will definitely return to try more of the menu. Service friendly and helpful.

We chose this on holiday because we thought a local cafe would appreciate the custom more than a chain but quickly regretted this choice. Filter coffee was watery and food was made on the cheap. 'Vegetarian' sausages are just shaped mash potato and peas and children's chicken nuggets tasted of fish. Everything is cooked in old oil so the taste is trainted and we felt sick long after eating. They ask you to pay before it arrives and the proprietor insists on holding the condiments and adding them herself which is infantilising and unhygeinic, especially as she's not wearing any gloves! Why not let customers serve themselves and wipe bottle aftetr? Staff disapeared quickly so there were no thankyous or queries about the food. Worst meal we'd had all week and a real disapointment. Avoid.

Had an excellent lunch here while we were on holiday in East Devon. "The best omelette" my wife has ever had. I had a chicken, bacon and avocado panini - unusual and good. Both came with with interesting salads. Tap water served by the bottle - always a plus for me. Nice staff and good service. Strongly recommended.

Went there to simply get a small lunch and a coffee. We wanted to takeaway, first thing that went wrong was they charged us for eating in. Our coffees then came out after 15 minutes, they got are order wrong (gave me a hot chocolate). Are food then came out, 30 minutes after our coffees! We were waiting for 45 minutes for a sandwich and a coffee! To top this off, the staff we utterly rude to each other, making sarcastic and nasty comments about each other. Also, they weren’t very friendly to costumers. I know it’s a hard time at the moment, but the service given to us and other costumers should have been a whole lot better!

This cafe in Sidmouth is excellent value for money. The food is cooked to a high standard & the drinks are reasonably priced. You can always tell a good cafe as the locals vacate the premises here on a regular basis. The staff are very friendly & make you feel very welcome. Overall, a wonderful establishment that I would recommend to anybody visiting Sidmouth.

Hubby and I like trying different places for breakfast and my hubby delivers to Sidmouth for his job and he saw SarahJanes and suggested trying it since I have the same name. The young gentleman serving was very friendly and polite and made us very welcome. The food was freshly cooked as it was very hot when it was served to us. The cooked breakfast was delicious and plenty of it to. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

This time we ordered Brie, Bacon and Cranberry sandwich when it came what a lovely surprise it had a lovely side salad which was not your ordinary one it had a slice of orange, kiwi fruit, lettuce and peppers. The waitress we had was really friendly and helpful, nothing was to much trouble. Would we go again Most Certainly

Had a sunny day wandering around Sidmouth. Looking for a cheap light lunch and Sarah Janes looked OK. In fact it was way better than that. We only had snacks but others were eating huge meals that looked great. It seems they have a lot of local regulars as the very friendly staff new people’s names. Both the meals we had were excellent, freshly prepared and well presented.

Need a great café with a real Devon welcome - here it is. When it's sunny [come to sunny Devon where it rains six days in seven --- not really] you're far better off here on the pavement than on the Champs Elysees as the pic shows. You have the quiet bustle of a small country town going past. Inside, everything is as you might expect. Good range of café food and they will vary the menu for you if you ask. Quality of service and food are excellent. If you want a Devon welcome - here it is.

First visit under new owners, good to see they're keeping it more or less the same. I had the pulled pork paninni special with chips and mum had small chicken curry with chips instead of rice, both very nice and filling, £10.90 for both. Good selection of breakfasts and greasy spoon meals. Clean and tidy with outdoor tables if the weathers good. Not disabled friendly as the single loo is cramped.

Decided to visit the Combe Garden Centre, overdue really as we are quite local. Went into the Kitchen at Combe for lunch. We had to wait behind the rope to be seated. I can understand this is busy times, but it was quiet and being seated involved the member of staff giving us a menu and help yourself to a seat. All well and good, but waiting what seemed a very long time behind the rope without even a menu to peruse was just plain daft and annoying. My wife wanted the jacket potato, but it clearly said on the menu this wasn’t available on a Sunday. We spotted a jacket spud being served and after an enquiry we were told we can ignore the menu in that respect. Whilst waiting at our table, we felt sorry for people coming in that wanted a seat with a brolly for shade, the only two tables suitable had ‘reserved for large parties’ on them. These tables held about 6-7 people and remained unused all the time we were there. Seemed ridiculous. Anyway, the positives, the food was promptly served and the quality good and the surroundings were very pleasant and a delight to sit in. Will we come back? Unlikely I feel, it could be so much better but needs better organisation and removal of petty rules.

Car broke down on the Axminster bypass: when fixed I had lost the will to drive another 4 hours so checked into the George Inn. In the middle of an outrageously good Halloween party, the staff were never the less attentive, sympathetic and checked me in quickly. Recently refurbished, the hotel is really and very well furnished and decorated - super comfortable, super clean, super cozy. It’s a little gem, with parking - great value too!

I was so surprised it was amazing. We had a family meal coming in from the rain. Service was attentive and quick. Drinks arrived, and the food was ordered. When the burgers arrived, they looked fantastic, and they didn't disappoint 👌. We had a variety of types. Mine was the chicken burger with loaded fries. I have to admit my first thoughts were totally blown away. This place is definitely going in my revisit list as we regularly go to exmouth. Well done, you, for fantastic experience 👏 👍
