We had researched local places to get a cream tea in the area - we were on holiday in Membury. As this was only 10 mins away from where we were staying, we drove to The Teapot Cafe. It was a lovely looking cafe within a farm shop area. (Lots of other lovely shops too.) It was very busy outside - we wouldn't sit out side though as there were too many wasps and dogs. We went inside where there were plenty of tables. We went to the counter to order our creams teas to find out they had run out of scones! Such a shame. They offered us cake but we were there for the cream teas! Sadly we decided to leave.

A lovely little spot situated next to a farm shop with other little independent businesses around it. The food was good using local farm produce only thing is the order was wrong. I did repeat the order twice to the person on the till and it still arrived wrong, the waitress offered to change it but I would have had to wait again so we ete what we were given. Good selection of food available seems popular.

Without doubt the best sausages i've ever tasted. The breakfast is amazing and certainly up to par with any local hotel. Beautiful array of cakes And some real coffee shop coffee. Indoor and outdoor seating BOTH allow dogs. The Teapot is located at miller's Farm shop amd as expected a great place to stock up on fresh from the farm produce and fresh fruit. Amither Bonus is that it's also a garden centre so there is no reason to drive past. Now if you'll excuse me I have a sausage Bap to finish off. Paul pengelly

The food was exceptional , made and served by the lovely Hayley , thank you Hayley . Cakes looked amazing on the counter . But when we arrived we waited for table service as that’s what it was when we went last time . Which is always nice . But no one came , so I approached the counter to place my order and mentioned that I’d been waiting for my order to be taken at the table only to be told we don’t do that !!! Quite abruptly too . I said no problem it’s just when I came a few months back you did. I paid on my card and thought it sounded just a little to much but didn’t want to say untill I checked myself with the menu !! I was overcharged by £1 , doesn’t sound a lot but if you did that with every customer that would soon mount up . So when she bought the drinks over i mentioned it . I had an omelette which states ham , cheese , mushroom or tomato !!! Then extra charge of 75p per topping !!! Well even with my standard cheese omelette then add two extra toppings at 75p each. My order still was over charged. When she came back she was not good at customer services at all plonked it on the table saying we could t work it out so here’s the 50 p !!! I judge all the places I go but customer service , this was plain rude.!! So I’m afraid marked down by me .!!

The Teapot CAfe Table 7 Covers 4 26/02/2022 at 10:31:38 So, it was quite surprising that when we did show up at the Teapot Cafe, which we vivited a long time before, that it became a very frustrating experience on that day. I was born in France and have been previously trained for in the hospitality trade in France, then England, Scotland from restaurants to Inns and Hotels, as well as private high demanding personal service for key people in the USA, all for a total of eleven packed years; also mentoring and uplifting aon a high degree people and organisations altruistically for fifteen years, has taught me balance within facts, in decision making when making true statements. The service we had at the Teapot Cafe was terrible: to start with, we had to wait around fourty two minutes, to have one breakfast, one Eggs Royale (which then when we received it was not, see comment below), and a children's breakfasts: in our books, that takes 8 to 10 minutes top. Secondly the Eggs Royale were not on the menu (that was underlined before confirming the order) and they did put mushrooms intead os salmon plus the mufin was as tough as a shoe sole! And we were charged...the same price. At last but not least, when you have about four young waitresses, two "leader" ladies serving plus a chef, the service should be excellent. So, I pray they read this and have people knowing enough about correct catering to solve this problem, as if not, the word gets around quickly. I am sure they can redress it.

Just the sort of menu we wanted but it missed the mark. Four of us paid our first visit to Millers Farm and were amazed at the shop. Beautiful fruit and veg at first then a wide range of groceries and wines. Certainly coming back to that. We all needed a lite bite and ordered 2 fish and chips, one quiche salad and chips and one ham, egg and chips - the writer. My ham did not seem very fresh but two thin slices of dry ham. The fish were like frozen battered fish and rather tasteless but the quiche was good, clearly home made. Service was fine and quick enough but we were not asked if we were ok.

We ordered one vegetable soup with bread and one sausage bap. The vegetable soup was clearly liquidised with no sign of any vegetable in it, and both glutinous in texture and utterly flavourless. The sausage bap was the size of a house, but quantity triumphed over quality due to the flavourless, cotton-wool-like texture and flavourless bread. We left more than we ate. On leaving the waitress asked if 'everything was ok', to which we commented specifically on our disappointment with the soup. She said that we should have said something earlier, but really, that isn't the point. A great many cafes and restaurants ask customers if their meals are ok a minute or two after they have served them- that way things can be put right. It wasn't especially busy when we were there so that could have been done. Can't recommend this place at all, and won't return.

We bought a cream tea. We were given one smallish scone with jam and cream. I went to buy another scone as it wasn't enough, so I bought a plain scone on its own, nothing else with... or on it... and the shop owner / assistant charged me two pounds! I felt so embarrassed on her behalf, but to be honest it was wasted on her...she joyfully put the dry scone on a plate and handed it so me. I quietly kicked myself afterwards for paying the money...vowing never to go back again!

Great venue for lunch, always busy, good food at reasonable prices. Until today, prices have risen, the place was half empty, the food still good but not exceptional so why the price hike? My breaded plaice with chips, peas and tartare sauce was £16.99! It was nice enough, not outstanding and available elsewhere in Sidmouth for a lot less. If they want more profit and less customers I think this approach will work, we will think twice before returning as there are many other places to eat locally that offer better value for similar food.
