Hadn’t intended going here, but had awful service at another place we went to. So glad we went here. Lovely friendly service from beginning to end. Food was delicious . Maybe a little pricy but ok for a treat now and then. Cafe was lovely and clean.

Can’t call Eggs Benedict if it’s poached eggs on a muffin with hollandaise. Requires Ham. Overpriced. Disappointing and not as good as it used to be

The queuing was confusing got seated to having to queue again to order which was even more confusing as people were queuing from both-sides the women taking the order at the till was clearly stressed which added to the feeling of being uncomfortable we sat back down to receive our drink my niece made a comment on how sweet the teapot was (dinky) was her word and the waitress said yes and they squeaked if you put them in your bag which shocked her , she said is she implying I am going to steal it , my meal was dry over cooked breadcrumb turkey we spent a lot of money in the shop and the restaurant it’s a shame the restaurant staff were not as good as the shop staff who were wonderful would not eat here again

Decided to visit the Combe Garden Centre, overdue really as we are quite local. Went into the Kitchen at Combe for lunch. We had to wait behind the rope to be seated. I can understand this is busy times, but it was quiet and being seated involved the member of staff giving us a menu and help yourself to a seat. All well and good, but waiting what seemed a very long time behind the rope without even a menu to peruse was just plain daft and annoying. My wife wanted the jacket potato, but it clearly said on the menu this wasn’t available on a Sunday. We spotted a jacket spud being served and after an enquiry we were told we can ignore the menu in that respect. Whilst waiting at our table, we felt sorry for people coming in that wanted a seat with a brolly for shade, the only two tables suitable had ‘reserved for large parties’ on them. These tables held about 6-7 people and remained unused all the time we were there. Seemed ridiculous. Anyway, the positives, the food was promptly served and the quality good and the surroundings were very pleasant and a delight to sit in. Will we come back? Unlikely I feel, it could be so much better but needs better organisation and removal of petty rules.

Good food but very small portion of ham , egg and chips for 16 pounds ,really should of been twice the size for that price. Also don't have the Coke / cola , 200ml can for 3 pounds and it tasted and looked like a cross between panda pop and happy shopper cola . Won't be rushing back .

WOW! Do try the Cauliflower and Stilton Soup… Amazing.. So good, that we found the young, delightful restaurant owner, Caitlin, and told her how good we thought it was. She very kindly gave us the recipe. Every time I come here, the food has been consistently good, modern and wholesome. Well done !

very busy little place , some staff helpful some not so . my sister went to the till and got completly ignored and she was the only one there !!! only went up to ask for butter . The food was ok . i went out of my comfort zone and ordered from the specials board. £15 for beef and mushroom pie in a red wine sauce with veg and chips. well it would of be lush if i were a vegetarian as there was only one very tiny piece of meat in mine !!! but loads and loads of mushrooms in a very watery gravey . i was not impressed !! however i do get it they are produced in numbers so hard to put meat in them all but it was very overpriced for what it was . save you money and go to the farm shop back up the road you came from !!! if i were to coke again i would only have a sandwitch .

Everyone needs to go here!!! Just stopped on my way back to London on the off chance of a bite to eat, and wow they did not disappoint! Staff and setting was wonderful and not to mention the carrot cake. Definitely worth a detour, maybe even a trip itself.

Haven’t been to Combe for a while but went today for lunch for my Daughters anniversary, I ordered cod Goujons on an open wrap, when it arrived there was 3 Goujons on some salad with tartare sauce on an open wrap. This would have been ok if it was a starter, the chips were powdery and not worth eating. Very disappointing meal and won’t be going back. Used to be good portion meals but won’t be going back. A mains a main but your mains are more like starters.

A friend had recommended The Kitchen. It is a great little find, with a lovely friendly atmosphere. I can’t believe how fantastic the food was and everything coming out the kitchen looked. We will definitely be back to try the menu.

This is a relatively new venue which was severely disrupted by the Covid epidemic so it was a great relief to find it open once restaurants were allowed to re-open. The menu is small but functional and we particularly like their fish and chips but the food is always fresh and served up well and promtly.

Lovely sitting area and good menu spoilt by lack of flexibility on the breakfast menu and my need to swap eggs and beans due to allergies. Initially “we don’t swap” became “ you can have an extra bit of toast” I get that every business has commercial priorities, but they also have customers, and in every situation the customer surely has to be made to feel they’re the priority and they’re being listened to. Unfortunately i wasn’t made to feel either, which is a shame as it’s a lovely place.

Wednesday afternoon 19th May and we visited Coombe Garden Centre. While we were there we visited The Kitchen Cafe. We sat in the outdoor seating area and we ordered 2 flat whites, £3 each. The coffee was very flavoursome and we were served by a charming young lady. There were some major works underway in the outdoor area, creating raised flower beds, water feature and a barbecue area. We had a peek under the protective fencing, it will be really good when finished. Will certainly be back.

We stopped at the cafe for a coffee and to warm up and decided to have lunch. I had the all day small breakfast which was excellent, the bacon was really tasty and everything was cooked perfectly, not greasy at all. My wife had the Tuna melt panini which she said was the most delicious food she had on holiday in Devon. The service was friendly and quick and everything was spotless.

Car broke down on the Axminster bypass: when fixed I had lost the will to drive another 4 hours so checked into the George Inn. In the middle of an outrageously good Halloween party, the staff were never the less attentive, sympathetic and checked me in quickly. Recently refurbished, the hotel is really and very well furnished and decorated - super comfortable, super clean, super cozy. It’s a little gem, with parking - great value too!

Great burger and beer today. Service was friendly and quick, as always. Informal dinning, great food. Had tried to book, but answer phone is full. Emailed but no response. Found out when we turned up that they are not currently taking bookings. Plenty of free tables though and table service.
