This reveiew refers to the Restaurant only, as we did not stay at the Hotel. We have come here on a number of occasions over the past few years. The place was fairly full and as we came on the spur of the moment, we did not have a reservation, but after waiting for less than 5 minutes, a table was quickly found. Service was impeccable. The Menu is not very extensive, I would have liked a few more dishes, but we managed to select a decent starter and Main course. Quality and quantity was good too. Altogether a very pleasant experience. We will be back again.

We nipped in for a quick drink, the orange wine was delicious and the place has a nice atmosphere. We had some little snacks whilst visiting.

A brilliant stay in the heart of Stow, absolutely perfect for a couple and totally worth the value for money! We booked directly and received breakfast each morning (anything on the menu and the food is delicious!) and also a complimentary cream tea which I thought was such a lovely touch to our stay. The room was very large (family room) which a large en-suite bathroom and large shower. Would definitely stay again! Note there is no parking but the local Tesco has free long stay which is a 7 min walk away. We were lucky to get on street parking just by The Porch House!

The Queen’s Head is just off the main square and we found it by chance. Very friendly welcome with a lovely wood burner in the bar. Good choice of drinks and we decided to return for a meal. Simple menu with traditional options. We had the fish and chips and pie with both dishes plentiful and piping hot. Only downside was they advertised skin-on chips and served the equivalent of French fries. Worth a visit.

Nice well presented food served by friendly staff. Whilst the service was good it did take a little time for the food to come. Initially one of our starters was wrong and had to be replaced. Then our main meals of steak and ale pie and Fish and Chips arrived at 9.30pm (our booking was at 8pm). Eating late is never great so if I was to book again I would go for an earlier booking to take into consideration the waiting time.

We called in twice over the weekend for breakfast. The staff are friendly and helpful, we had the full cooked breakfast which is the best I have ever had, the toast is proper door steps with plenty of butter supplied . The coffee they use is also excellent, so much so I asked what it was and where to buy it from . The building is really nice , lots of history and exposed beams , the menu has the story of the tea room in it. And afternoon tea is available from 9:30am, I highly recommend a visit, you will not be disappointed.

Was happy to sit down and have a drink and a bit to eat after a long afternoon of shopping, however as soon as we got there we were disappointed and should of known to turn around and go elsewhere. The host had a disgusting attitude and was rude, never saw her smile once, we sat down and waited and waited for our order to be taken, people who got seated way after us were served before us, we got walked past about 10 times and a server was stood doing nothing and looked at us many times but never bothered to come take our order, so I had to ask a server to come take our order, so then he tells another server to do it then he goes to take someone else’s order. We were ready to leave but finally a nice young lad acknowledged us, we both ordered a scone and then got told there was only one scone left (bear in mind this was at not even four in the afternoon) so my mum ordered something different, my scone came freezing cold and my mums food was very unsatisfying. Will definitely not be going back!

Just back from a lovely 3 night stay, we had Cottage 1 a split level room in the courtyard. Lovely big room, we liked having the lounge area upstairs on the mezzanine floor. Really good full English Breakfast each morning, we had one evening meal, I had the Blade of slow cooked beef on horseradish mash, with veg, it was absolutely delicious. My husband had the equally delicious Pork Belly dish. You do need to book a table for evening meals in all the pubs in stow, it gets very busy with tourists and we saw many couples being turned away.

I'd read great things about the Fox so thought it was time for a visit. We didn't book as it was a last minute thing while driving past. Other than the bar staff the place has rather rude staff and I think this is lead by the General Manager who just shrugged his shoulders, when we pointed this out. He used to be at another local pub and had the same arrogant attitude there. If you can cope with the attitude the pizza is well worth putting up with the French style of mamangement.
